Chapter 70: The Prying Eyes of Konoha's Higher-Ups!
"You little brats, have you all lost your damn minds!!!"
Uchiha Tatsuki, his two-tomoe Sharingan glaring, cursed loudly while sporting a bruised and swollen face. Despite his injuries, he had managed to knock down several genin.
As the fight continued, the genin gradually realized something was wrong.
Normally, a Transformation Jutsu would dispel after a single hit, yet this chunin had taken countless punches without reverting.
"W-Wait, stop fighting!"
One of the genin suddenly shouted.
"We... we might have hit the wrong person!"
Hearing this, many of them paused, quickly realizing the oddity.
"How is this possible? We had that Little Brat surrounded. There was no way he could have escaped or hidden without us noticing..."
Doubt and confusion spread across their faces.
Whoosh... Boom!!!
Seizing the brief respite, Uchiha Tatsuki immediately fired an emergency distress signal.
"Obstructing official duties, assaulting clan guards... you bastards aren't getting away with this..."
Suppressing tears, Uchiha Tatsuki gritted his teeth and cursed furiously.
He had done nothing to provoke anyone, yet he had been ganged up on and beaten for no reason. And now they were telling him it was a case of mistaken identity???
He had never suffered such humiliation in his life!
"Run!!!"
Seeing the clan's alarm signal, the genin no longer dared to question whether this man was truly a clan guard.
They knew they had messed up badly and immediately scattered like frightened birds.
"None of you are getting away! Do you really think the clan guards are just for show?"
Uchiha Tatsuki pinned down one of the elite genin.
As he restrained one, several clan jonin quickly arrived on the scene. These brats wouldn't escape today. Even if they managed to slip away now, the clan guards would track them down sooner or later.
Night Market.
Having received his shadow clone's memories, Ryun's main body couldn't help but change expressions.
"I... was way too reckless!!!"
Ryun could hardly believe that the shadow clone had originated from him.
It had inherited his sharp tongue and arrogance but had taken it to another level... provoking people left and right during the clan meeting!
It had practically maxed out its hate meter!
The fact that it hadn't been beaten to death (or dispelled) and lasted until it dispersed on its own was nothing short of a miracle...
"What's wrong? Who was too reckless?"
Noticing Ryun's odd behavior, Kushina blinked her big eyes curiously.
"N-Nothing..."
After calming down, Ryun felt both amused and exasperated.
The shadow clone's provocations were his responsibility whether he liked it or not. The grudge with Uchiha Fugaku was now set in stone.
The way it handled the ambush wasn't bad, but letting Uchiha Kazuhiko awaken his Sharingan... even Ryun's main body felt sour for a while...
"That damn bastard got lucky! Not only did he unlock the Sharingan, but he also caught the attention of the clan elders..."
Ryun muttered resentfully.
"What are you mumbling about? You're acting weird..."
Kushina stopped walking and stared at the distracted Little Brat in confusion.
"Remember that bastard Uchiha Kazuhiko?"
"Yeah, what about that jerk?"
"He unlocked his Sharingan..."
"What???"
The two walked hand in hand on their way home, chatting idly.
But suddenly, Ryun stopped in his tracks and fell silent.
"What now..."
Ryun sensed something—a feeling of being watched, and the source seemed to be coming from the sky above.
He subtly glanced upward but saw no one.
'The Third Hokage's Telescope Technique...?'
Though he thought this, Ryun's expression remained unchanged as he resumed their earlier conversation.
The old man occasionally used his crystal ball to check on Kushina.
He rarely did so at school—Ryun estimated it happened maybe once or twice a month. After all, few places in Konoha were safer than the academy.
But during summer break, he checked more frequently, roughly once every eight to ten days.
Kushina was the future Nine-Tails vessel. Even though it would be years before she became the jinchūriki, the Hokage wouldn't completely neglect her and still kept an eye on her from time to time.
Hokage's Office.
"These two seem unusually close..."
Sarutobi Hiruzen took a puff of his pipe and muttered casually.
"Close? That girl Kushina is practically head over heels for him..." Tsunade grumbled.
Several people were present in the Hokage's office—Tsunade, Jiraiya, and the two Hokage advisors.
The identity of the 'new Nine-Tails vessel' had been classified when Kushina first arrived in Konoha, not even the Sannin were informed.
But now... anyone who looked into the red-haired girl could easily deduce her background.
"Who is this kid?" Koharu Utatane asked curiously.
If he could charm the future jinchūriki so thoroughly, she needed to know more.
"His name is Uchiha Ryun. This kid even went on a mission with Orochimaru before..." Jiraiya added.
"Uchiha???" Koharu instinctively frowned.
"His hair color seems a bit off... am I seeing things?"
Homura Mitokado adjusted his glasses and muttered, leaning closer to the crystal ball.
Under the dim night lighting, Ryun's hair appeared alternately black and purple, making it hard to discern.
"You're not mistaken... because he's a mixed-blood. He has Senju lineage, so his hair isn't purely black..."
Sarutobi Hiruzen chuckled, exhaling a cloud of smoke.
Hearing that Uchiha Ryun had Senju blood, Koharu's frown relaxed slightly, though she didn't seem to notice it herself.
"A mixed-blood of Senju and Uchiha... quite rare!" Homura joked lightly.
"When Orochimaru registered that B-rank mission last time, he asked me to list three names. One of them was Uchiha Ryun—probably this kid, right?"
As the mission records keeper, Homura recalled the name.
"This kid doesn't have a Konoha forehead protector. He must still be in school, right? And Orochimaru already took him on a B-rank mission..."
The two advisors were speechless.
This was against protocol. Homura had been confused when writing the name, not immediately recognizing Uchiha Ryun. At the time, he thought it was some Uchiha clansman.
Now it turned out to be some snot-nosed academy student?
Taking on a B-rank mission before graduation? Was he trying to defy the heavens?
"Who knows... but Orochimaru seems to think highly of him." Jiraiya remarked casually.
The Sannin often drank together, and Jiraiya had heard Orochimaru speak of Uchiha Ryun.
Orochimaru had labeled him a 'monstrous' genius.
"Tsunade, what's on your mind? You've been quiet the whole time..." Sarutobi Hiruzen noticed his female disciple's unusual silence.
