Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Return of Hands
---
Amegakure – The Tower
Atop the tallest tower in Amegakure, inside a dimly lit hall, Nagato sat in his mechanical chair, gazing at the group returning. His Rinnegan flickered as he observed them stepping into the room.
"It's only been half a day, and they're back," Nagato mused, his voice calm yet laced with curiosity. "It seems everything went smoothly."
Orochimaru let out a low chuckle, his golden snake-like eyes narrowing with amusement.
"With Naruto-kun's meticulous planning and the Flying Thunder God Technique, how could it not?" he said, his voice tinged with playful mockery.
Konan, standing beside Nagato, habitually took her position, remaining quiet.
Meanwhile, Naruto dispelled his shadow clone, absorbing its memories instantly. A slight look of surprise crossed his face—his clone had spent a considerable amount of time talking with Nagato.
The two had exchanged stories about Jiraiya—how he raised Naruto, the training he had given him, and the kind of person he was in the village. Likewise, Nagato had reminisced about his own time with their former master, sharing details Naruto had never known, not even in his past life.
Naruto glanced at Nagato.
Nagato met his gaze.
They exchanged smiles.
Kotoamatsukami truly was an extraordinary technique.
By suppressing the extremist thoughts that had once consumed him, Nagato had begun to return to his true self—the boy who once dreamed of peace, the disciple who had longed to walk beside Jiraiya.
He still recognized their master.
He still desired a world of mutual understanding.
Realizing this, Naruto's resolve hardened even more.
He turned to Orochimaru with a grin.
"Uncle Snake, it's time for you to perform your god-tier ritual dance!"
With that, Naruto stepped aside, giving Orochimaru space to work.
Orochimaru rolled his eyes.
"Naruto-kun, your humor is as annoying as ever," he muttered.
Still, a long white snake slithered out from his sleeve. He pulled the Shinigami mask from his waist and slowly placed it over his face.

The Ritual Begins
The moment the mask settled, a strange, eerie hum filled the air.
Orochimaru's body began to convulse, his limbs twitching unnaturally.
Then—he spread his arms wide, forming a crucifix-like stance.
A deep, guttural whimper escaped his throat.
"Ugh... Uhh... Ahh..."
The temperature in the room plummeted. A chilling presence settled over them.
Then, it appeared.
A massive spectral figure emerged behind Orochimaru—the Shinigami, the Death God itself.
Its white hair flowed wildly, sharp red horns protruding from its skull. Its golden pupils gleamed with an ominous glow, and its mouth, filled with blackened, jagged fangs, clenched a deadly dagger between its teeth.
A wave of pure, unfiltered malice flooded the space.
Konan instinctively frowned, taking a step behind Nagato.
She didn't fear much—but this felt different.
Nagato, on the other hand, studied the Shinigami with fascination. His Rinnegan eyes flickered.
"So this is the Shinigami…" he murmured.
His voice turned softer.
"I wonder… if Yahiko is there."
Naruto, understanding his thoughts, gave him a reassuring look.
"Nagato," he said, voice steady. "Don't worry. Trust me. Just wait."
Nagato met Naruto's gaze and nodded.
For the first time in a long while—hope flickered in his eyes.

The Soul Extraction
The Shinigami raised its left hand, grasping the ritual dagger in its mouth.
Then—it plunged the blade into its own stomach.
A horrific tearing sound echoed as the Shinigami's abdomen split open, revealing wraith-like souls writhing within.
Orochimaru's body trembled violently.
At the same moment, a deep gash appeared on his stomach, blood gushing from the wound.
From within the Shinigami's belly, five souls emerged.
One of them, as if summoned, floated in the air for a moment—then suddenly surged back into Orochimaru's hands.
Orochimaru's eyes gleamed with euphoria.
"My hands…!" he gasped. "My hands are back!"
His fingers twitched—then flexed, perfectly restored.
Meanwhile, Naruto's eyes had locked onto the remaining four souls.
His expression darkened.
"The First Hokage… The Second Hokage… The Third Hokage…"
Then, his gaze softened.
"…and my father, the Fourth Hokage."
A pang of emotion flashed through him.
Forgive me, Dad. But this isn't the time for us to meet.
He quickly pulled out a pre-prepared sealing scroll.
Forming a hand seal, he activated one of the Uzumaki Clan's Sealing Techniques.
"Soul Binding Seal!"
From the scroll, four chakra chains shot out, wrapping around the souls, dragging them into the parchment.
With a final burst of energy, the scroll snapped shut, the seal complete.
Naruto exhaled, rolling up the scroll carefully.
He would keep this safe—until the right time.

The Rebirth of Orochimaru
At that moment, Orochimaru tore off his mask, clutching his stomach wound, groaning in pain.
"Naruto-kun…!" he hissed.
Without hesitation, Naruto turned to the sealed White Zetsu clone he had captured earlier.
He unsealed it, pried open its mouth, and shouted:
"Uncle Snake—take it!"
Orochimaru's golden eyes gleamed.
Without hesitation, he opened his mouth wide.
Suddenly—a long snake with a human face slithered out of Orochimaru's throat, its body coiling in the air before plunging straight into White Zetsu's mouth.
The transformation began immediately.
The White Zetsu's flesh warped and twisted, its skin peeling and shifting, reshaping itself.
Moments later, the figure lying on the ground… was no longer White Zetsu.
It was Orochimaru, fully reborn.
Nagato, watching from the side, was completely stunned.
Even as an Uzumaki familiar with Sealing Techniques—this was beyond comprehension.
To break a soul-sealing jutsu, the caster must be sacrificed. It was an ironclad rule.
A one-for-one trade.
Yet Orochimaru had cheated death itself.
Nagato murmured in disbelief.
"This… shouldn't be possible."
Naruto grinned, helping Orochimaru up.
"Uncle Snake, you've worked hard," he said. "Congratulations—your hands are back, and your power has skyrocketed."
Orochimaru stretched his fingers, feeling his restored strength.
He let out a dark chuckle.
"It's been a long time… since I've felt this good."
Then, with a wicked smirk, he turned to Naruto.
"Now, tell me, Naruto-kun… What do you need me to do next?"
Naruto's eyes gleamed.
"Not just yet. There's something I need to handle first."
Orochimaru chuckled.
"Interesting… Very interesting."
