Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Memory Kill
Rain Village.
Naruto, carrying Nagato and Konan, flashed back using the Flying Thunder God Technique and landed on the high platform.
As soon as they landed, Naruto saw the masked man sitting where Pain (Deva Path) usually resided.
Naruto smiled slightly, walked toward the masked man, and called out, "Hey! What's wrong with you? You come to someone's house without saying hello, and you destroy the Shadow Clone they left behind—seriously?"
The masked man slowly turned his head, and in his only visible eye, the Mangekyō Sharingan appeared. He stared at Naruto for a long moment, then slowly spoke, his voice filled with doubt: "Naruto?"
Naruto put his hands on his hips and said, "Yeah, it's me. What's the problem?"
The masked man stood up and pointed at Nagato, who stood behind Naruto. He said sternly, "Nagato! Why have you cut off contact with me? The Akatsuki organization has a new mission. Don't you know?"
Nagato remained atop the large bird, his cold eyes expressionless as he remained silent.
The masked man's expression darkened. This wasn't a good sign.
Konan stepped forward, looked at the masked man, and said, "Madara! From today on, we are no longer members of Akatsuki. We'll be changing our uniforms soon. From today, Amegakure will be ruled by the Heaven Organization. I hope you understand that."
Madara snorted and sneered. "Oh, really? Hahahaha, how amusing. When did you decide to name your little group that?"
Konan's face flushed with anger.
To insult the Heaven Organization was to insult Naruto.
As for Nagato, he responded with action—Six Paths of Pain were activated.
Madara frowned deeply, his voice dark and low. "So, you've grown up and now you dare challenge me?"
Naruto raised a hand in a calming gesture, smiling as he spoke. "Senpai, it's raining heavily outside. You and Konan should head inside, and I'll talk to this person alone."
Nagato looked uncertain, but Naruto reassured him with a glance. "It's fine. You and Konan go in. There are some things I want to discuss with him privately."
Nagato, seeing the determination in Naruto's eyes, nodded in agreement.
"I understand," Nagato said before controlling the bird to take him and Konan inside the platform. Konan glanced back at Naruto before following Nagato inside.
As soon as Nagato and Konan were gone, Madara's voice slowly echoed, "You don't have a Sharingan, and from what I know, you don't have any Genjutsu training in your system."
Naruto smiled slightly, slowly turning to face the masked man.
Madara continued, "In this world, the only ones who can change a person's consciousness without leaving any lasting impact are the eyes of Uchiha Shisui, the strongest Genjutsu—Kotoamatsukami!"
"Did you use Shisui's eye on Nagato and Konan?" Madara asked.
Naruto remained silent, refusing to comment.
Madara walked around him, shaking his head. "If I'm correct, the reason you're able to use Shisui's technique is because Uchiha Itachi helped you."
Madara's tone became laced with curiosity. "I'm truly puzzled. Naruto, you, who has targeted Hokage since childhood, would actually betray Konoha and become a rogue ninja. What drives you to this? Why did you take Itachi's strongest Genjutsu and not use it on Sasuke, but instead on Nagato and Konan? You even created an organization called HEAVEN!"
Madara was filled with confusion. "It's all so bizarre and puzzling. I still don't understand why you did this."
Naruto, noticing Madara's thirst for understanding, smiled disdainfully. "Am I really confusing you that much?"
Naruto spread his hands, his tone mocking. "But you know what confuses me more? A person who was loved and cared for by his teacher and his wife since childhood, and yet… would betray everything they gave him. When his teacher's wife was giving birth, he snuck into Konoha, used his teacher's newborn son as leverage, kidnapped his teacher's wife, and released the Nine-Tails!"
Naruto's voice grew colder with each word, and Madara's expression behind the mask grew darker.
"Even! If it hadn't been for the teacher's timely arrival, that bastard might have controlled the Nine-Tails and killed the one person who had always loved him!"
Naruto sneered, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "Tell me, how could someone who was so loved and cared for by their teacher and his wife end up like this? How could someone repay such kindness with such hatred?"
"Enough!!!"
Madara's voice became a roar, his finger pointing at Naruto, his anger boiling over. "What do you know!? What do you understand about this world!? Do you have any idea how much hatred and hypocrisy run deep in it!?"
"But what's the point?" Naruto shouted, cutting him off.
Naruto glared at Madara, his tone scathing. "No matter how hypocritical, how twisted, or how disgusting this world is, what does that have to do with your teacher and his wife? How do you think they feel about you now?"
Naruto's voice was laced with fury as he continued, "My dad and mom treated you like their own son, but what did you do to them!? When I was born, you strapped explosive tags to my body! You did that to their own child!!"
Naruto clenched his fists in frustration, his voice rising in anger. "And what did you do? You betrayed them. You betrayed everything!"
Madara, struck by the words, took several steps back, clearly rattled. He stared at Naruto, his voice trembling. "You… Who are you? How do you know this…?"
Naruto sneered, his tone dripping with contempt. "To beat a person, you attack their heart, Madara."
He looked at the masked man with an unyielding smile, his eyes filled with determination. "I may have escaped your pain in the past life, but I'm coming for your heart in this life."
Naruto made a hand sign and whispered, "Transformation Jutsu!"
In a flash of smoke, Naruto transformed into a woman.
Madara's eyes widened in shock, his steps faltering. He looked at Naruto, unable to contain his disbelief. "You… You…!"
Naruto, now in Rin's form, looked at Madara with a sharp gaze. "What's wrong, Obito?"
"Why… Why did you betray your teacher and his wife like this? Do you even remember your promise to me? You always wanted to become Hokage, Obito!"
Madara's heart clenched as he looked at the woman before him—Rin, the person he had failed to protect. A deep ache gnawed at him, pulling him back into painful memories.
Pain.
The pain of loss.
And the pain of his own choices.
Obito's eyes filled with sorrow as the truth of Naruto's words hit him. The weight of his actions became unbearable.
But in that moment, there was no time for reflection.
Naruto's voice rang out one last time.
"Tell me, Obito… Why did you throw it all away?"
Obito didn't say another word. Without a second thought, he escaped through the space-time vortex, unable to face the truth any longer.
