Naruto: Rebirth Of The Child Of Prophecy

Chapter 22: Naruto VS Konan

The Hidden Rain Village. A cold drizzle fell from the gray skies, painting the metallic cityscape with an even darker sheen. The rain mingled with the sound of rushing water from countless pipes and the distant hum of machinery.

In an instant, the rain seemed to ripple unnaturally as Naruto appeared at its center, the Flying Thunder God technique depositing him precisely where he intended—the place where he had once saved Jiraiya's life. Naruto straightened, his orange jacket catching droplets of rain that slid down like liquid silver.

With a flick of his wrist, Naruto unsealed Danzo's right arm and Sharingan from a scroll and tucked it away securely. His expression was calm, but his eyes betrayed the weight of his thoughts. Without hesitation, he began walking deeper into the heart of the Hidden Rain Village, each step purposeful.

The rain continued to fall, soaking through Naruto's clothes, clinging to his skin.

Somewhere far away, Nagato's eyes snapped open in the tower where he resided. His pale face turned slightly toward Konan, who stood by his side.

"What's wrong?" Konan asked, her voice soft but sharp with concern.

Nagato's Rinnegan glowed faintly as he answered, "There's an intruder… someone strong enough to disrupt my rain. The chakra is immense, unlike anything I've sensed in a long time."

Konan frowned. "Could it be Jiraiya-sensei again?"

Nagato shook his head slowly. "No. I know Jiraiya-sensei's chakra too well. This is someone else. Prepare yourself, Konan. It's the same as last time."

Konan nodded without hesitation, stepping toward the edge of the platform. Her body began to shimmer, transforming into countless sheets of paper that folded into delicate butterflies. The fluttering origami scattered into the wind, taking flight into the rain-soaked village.

Outside, Tendo Pain moved. Nagato's chakra flowed through the Deva Path, guiding it to the rooftop of a towering structure. There, Tendo Pain stood still, forming hand seals. The rain suddenly ceased, leaving the village eerily silent.

Naruto tilted his head upward, noting the abrupt change in weather. "Looks like they've noticed me," he murmured to himself. "I'd better hurry."

He leapt into the air, landing on a narrow ledge, and quickly formed a hand seal. Three shadow clones appeared beside him, their expressions identical to his own. Without wasting a moment, they began gathering nature energy.

Flying Thunder God was a remarkable technique, but the long-distance jump from Konoha to the Hidden Rain Village had drained a significant amount of Naruto's chakra. By the time he arrived, his Sage Mode chakra had already dissipated. But now, sitting cross-legged in a secluded corner, he could feel the nature energy flowing back into him.

Minutes later, the transformation was complete. Naruto's eyes opened, glowing with the sharp vertical slits of Sage Mode. His senses expanded outward, allowing him to perceive every movement within the village.

At that moment, a paper butterfly floated into his field of vision, its fragile wings shimmering under the dim light. Naruto reached out and caught it gently between his fingers. A faint smile tugged at his lips.

"No need to look for me, Senior Sister," he said quietly. "It's me."

The paper in his hand began to shift, folding and unfolding rapidly until it formed the outline of a human figure. Konan emerged from the origami, her expression cold and unreadable as she took her full form.

"You are…" she began, her voice laced with recognition, "Konoha's Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, Naruto Uzumaki?"

Naruto let out a bitter chuckle. "Senior Sister, is that really what you're going to call me?"

Konan's expression didn't change. "That's how you're described in the Akatsuki's reports."

Naruto shook his head with a wry smile. He thought back to the events that had led him here, to the strained connections and broken ties. The Akatsuki—Nagato and Konan—didn't see him as a fellow student of Jiraiya. To them, he was just an enemy.

"What are you doing here?" Konan asked sharply.

Naruto's smile faded, replaced by a seriousness that matched the tension in the air. "I'm here to see Nagato. I promised him last time that I'd visit again when I had the chance."

Konan's demeanor shifted subtly. Two pairs of paper wings unfolded from her back, their edges sharp and glinting like blades. She rose into the air, her voice cold. "There's no 'Nagato' here. Only Pain. And you've made a mistake coming here. To trespass in the territory of God is to invite death."

Before Naruto could respond, her wings erupted in a storm of paper blades, raining down on him like a barrage from twin Gatling guns.

Naruto leapt to the side, narrowly avoiding the onslaught. His Sage Mode reflexes allowed him to dart along the walls, evading the relentless assault.

"Is this really all you've got?" Naruto called out, his voice tinged with mockery. "I don't like fighting women, you know."

Konan's attacks didn't falter. She continued her relentless pursuit, her paper wings firing in unending waves.

Naruto sighed. "Guess I have no choice." He flung a kunai into the air, its trajectory precise. A second kunai followed, sailing closer to Konan.

With a flash of light, Naruto used the Flying Thunder God to teleport mid-air, catching the second kunai as he reappeared directly in front of Konan.

"Senjutsu: Giant Rasengan!"

The massive, swirling sphere of chakra formed in his hand, its power distorting the air around it. He hurled it at Konan with unerring accuracy.

Konan's paper wings fluttered furiously, attempting to shield her from the attack, but the Rasengan's sheer force tore through her defenses, shredding the paper into fine fragments.

Just as the Rasengan was about to connect, a figure appeared behind Konan, his hand outstretched.

"Shinra Tensei."

A wave of repulsive force burst forth, deflecting Naruto's attack with ease. The Rasengan dissipated harmlessly, and Naruto leapt back, teleporting to the kunai he had left behind.

Konan landed on the ground, her expression strained. "I'm sorry," she said softly. "He's stronger than me."

Tendo Pain—Nagato's most powerful path—nodded. "Leave this to me. I will handle him."

Konan hesitated but eventually retreated, leaving Naruto and Tendo Pain standing alone in the clearing.

Naruto looked up at the floating figure before him, the Rinnegan glowing ominously. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy. The Rinnegan's power was unparalleled.

A faint smile crossed Naruto's lips as he thought of the purpose that had brought him here. He straightened and looked at Pain with determination.

"Brother," Naruto said, his voice steady. "Let's talk."
