Naruto: Rebirth Of The Child Of Prophecy

Chapter 23: Naruto VS Pain

Tendo Pain floated in mid-air, his face as cold and unyielding as the rain-soaked steel towers around them. His Rinnegan eyes focused on Naruto with an eerie calm. "You are not qualified to talk to God," he declared, his voice devoid of emotion.

Before Naruto could respond, a series of sharp sounds echoed through the air.

Swish, swish, swish!

Four more Pains appeared, each clad in Akatsuki's black and red cloud robes, surrounding Naruto in a circle. Their expressions were as lifeless as their movements were precise, the black chakra rods glinting ominously against the dim light of the rain.

Naruto's eyes narrowed as he recognized them. His memory flashed back to the fierce battle during the attack on Konoha. These were the same Six Paths of Pain he had fought back then—the ones who had brought devastation to his home.

Tendo Pain spoke again, his tone unwavering. "I had planned to hunt you down in Konoha, but it seems fate has brought you to me. Very well. I shall take the Nine-Tails here and now."

Pain extended his hand.

"All things are drawn toward Heaven!"

Naruto felt his body jolt as an invisible force gripped him. He was yanked forward, hurtling toward Tendo Pain. Above him, the other four Pains leapt into the air, their black chakra rods aimed straight for him.

"Not so fast!" Naruto growled, forming hand seals mid-air. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three shadow clones appeared in an instant. Acting with perfect synchronicity, one clone grabbed Naruto's arms, while another pulled his legs, propelling him downward in an arcing motion. The third clone provided additional force, breaking Pain's gravitational pull.

Naruto flipped through the air, landing on the ground with a thud. But before he could react further, something wet and constricting coiled around him.

"Damn it!" Naruto muttered as he realized what it was. A translucent, slimy tongue had wrapped around his body, binding him tightly.

His eyes darted to the source: the short-haired Animal Path Pain, who was holding a hand seal. The chameleon! Naruto grimaced, recognizing the familiar summoning beast that had eluded him before.

High above, his shadow clones engaged the other Pains. One clone tackled the Asura Path, while another grappled with the Human Path. The third charged at the Naraka Path, but its attack was blocked by a chakra rod.

Naruto smirked despite his predicament. "You think this is enough to hold me?" he said, his tone confident.

With a flash of light, Naruto vanished, teleporting back to the kunai he had marked earlier. The chameleon's tongue snapped uselessly through the empty air.

As he reappeared, Tendo Pain moved with precision. In an instant, he closed the distance between them, a black rod sliding from his sleeve as he thrust it toward Naruto's chest.

"At this range, you can't escape," Tendo Pain thought, his Rinnegan tracking every movement.

But Naruto didn't flinch. Instead of teleporting away, he stayed put, catching the black rod with his right hand.

"Frog Kumite!" Naruto shouted, his left hand blocking Pain's free arm while his right hand gripped the rod tightly.

Pain's eyes widened slightly in surprise as Naruto's strength cracked the rod with a loud snap.

With a swift motion, Naruto kicked upward with his left foot. Pain crossed his arms to block, but the force of the kick sent him hurtling backward. He landed with a skid, regrouping with the other Pains, who had taken their positions around him once more.

Naruto stood confidently, his Sage Mode aura radiating around him. He pointed at Tendo Pain. "You're strong, but I know your weakness. A five-second interval between your abilities. Your close combat and defense? They're not as impressive as your long-range techniques."

Tendo Pain said nothing, his expression as calm as ever.

Naruto turned his attention to the other Paths of Pain. "The Hungry Ghost Path absorbs chakra and shields you. The Animal Path handles summons—like that disgusting chameleon that just tried to trap me. The Human Path pulls intel and extracts souls. The Naraka Path? Revives your allies and judges truth and lies. And the Asura Path… well, I remember blasting that one to bits during the Konoha fight. Guess it's back with its mechanical weapons."

Pain's silence was broken as he finally spoke. "So Jiraiya-sensei discovered our secret and passed it on to you. But it doesn't matter. Against the power of a god, knowledge is meaningless."

Naruto's smirk grew. "God? You can call yourself whatever you want. I'm not here to fight you today. I'm here for something more important."

With that, Naruto pulled the broken black rod from his hand and stabbed it into his shoulder without hesitation.

Pain's Rinnegan flickered slightly as he sensed the sudden connection.

Naruto closed his eyes, channeling the Sage Chakra through the rod. "Let's see where you're hiding."

In the distant tower, Nagato froze. His emaciated body trembled as he sensed Naruto's chakra flowing through the rod, backtracking the connection directly to him.

"This kid…" Nagato murmured, his voice weak but tinged with astonishment. "He's using Sage Mode to locate me."

Back at the battlefield, Naruto opened his eyes and smirked. "Found you."

He tossed the black rod aside and formed hand seals once more. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A thousand Narutos appeared, their sheer numbers flooding the battlefield. The Six Paths of Pain immediately tensed, preparing for the onslaught.

"Stop them!" Nagato's voice commanded through Tendo Pain.

Tendo Pain leapt into the air, unleashing a powerful Shinra Tensei. The repulsive wave obliterated dozens of clones in an instant. But it wasn't enough. The remaining clones pressed on, overwhelming the other Paths with relentless attacks.

Meanwhile, the real Naruto used Flying Thunder God to dart between the kunai he had marked earlier, evading Pain's counterattacks effortlessly.

Inside the tower, Nagato sighed deeply. "Konan," he said weakly, "come back. Stay by my side."

Konan, who had been observing from a distance, returned to Nagato's side, her expression filled with quiet concern.

As the chaos raged outside, Naruto finally reached the base of the tower. He leapt up to a square entrance, his feet landing lightly on the cold steel floor.

The interior was dark, the walls made of dull metal. Water dripped from unseen pipes, echoing through the oppressive silence. Naruto walked cautiously, each step reverberating against the stone beneath him.

After a hundred steps, the corridor opened into a large, dimly lit chamber.

At its center sat Nagato, his frail body embedded in a massive mechanical frame. Black chakra rods protruded from his back, connecting him to the machine that sustained his life. His Rinnegan glowed faintly as he looked at Naruto with tired eyes.

"What do you want to talk about?" Nagato asked weakly, his voice barely above a whisper.
