Naruto: Mission Tsunade – Time for Uncle to Step Up!

Chapter 208: Chapter 208: Inauguration Ceremony

As time passed, the Hokage inauguration ceremony officially began.

Kawaki had never attended an inauguration ceremony before. This one was personally arranged by him, and he was determined to make it unforgettable.

A group of beautiful women took the stage, delivering a captivating performance for the villagers.

Their graceful silhouettes and mesmerizing movements drew cheers from the audience.

"Pretty nice, huh?"

Seeing Kawaki completely absorbed, Tsunade's eye twitched in irritation.

"Huh? It's okay, I guess... Still not as good as you."

Kawaki quickly looked away under Tsunade's icy glare.

It was such a shame that Jiraiya wasn't here today.

"Heh~ So this is why you've been so busy these past few days."

"Rehearsals were great, right?" Nemu smirked mockingly. All men were hopeless perverts in her eyes.

"No way! I've been handling serious matters."

Kawaki hurried to explain. He hadn't really attended any rehearsals—he'd only snuck in a few peeks.

"I'll deal with you later."

Tsunade clearly didn't buy it. She shot him a fierce glare before turning away.

"We don't have so many elaborate displays in Sunagakure."

Pakura stood beside Orochimaru, feeling somewhat amazed.

Rich villages definitely had more extravagance.

"It's just Kawaki adding all the flair," Orochimaru replied. Having seen his fair share of ceremonies in his lifetime, even he admitted this inauguration event was quite impressive.

"I bet Brother-in-law is going to get beaten up," Nawaki said with a mischievous grin.

"I think you're right," Minato added, drawing laughter from the others around them.

As the opening dance concluded, Nemu Koharu took the stage as host.

"Good morning, everyone."

"Today is an important day—we are here to welcome Konoha's fourth Hokage."

"She is a powerful ninja as well as a kind-hearted hospital director."

"She not only led our village to victory during the Second Shinobi World War but also healed countless injured and ill villagers."

"And that person is—Lord Tsunade."

"Let's give her a warm round of applause as she takes the stage."

Nemu delivered every word flawlessly, and immediately afterward, thunderous applause erupted from the crowd.

Many people even shouted Tsunade's name enthusiastically, showing how popular she was now.

The clapping and cheering echoed across Konoha.

"Still not over it yet?" Biwako Sarutobi stepped out from the house and placed a coat over her husband's shoulders.

"It's in the past now. I'm just happy for Tsunade." Hiruzen Sarutobi gently patted Biwako's hand where it rested on his shoulder, keeping his gaze fixed toward the village square.

Suddenly, he smiled bitterly and shook his head, brushing aside some unrealistic thoughts.

"Everything packed already?"

If things had gone differently—if it weren't for circumstances beyond his control—it should have been him personally handing the Hokage hat to Tsunade.

Instead, he now waited while the entire clan compound was being moved.

"Yeah, we're all set," Biwako softly replied, unsure how else to comfort her husband.

"Why don't you head back first? I'll stay here a bit longer."

Hiruzen gently urged his wife away. Meanwhile, the celebration continued in the village square.

Under everyone's expectant gazes, Tsunade beat her wings and flew directly from the ground onto the high platform.

That stunning display sent another wave of cheers roaring through the gathered villagers.

Seeing Tsunade retract her wings, Nemu Koharu gave her a slight bow and nod before turning around and leaving, stepping aside so she could take center stage alone.

"Ahem~"

Tsunade cleared her throat. Kawaki had written a rather lengthy speech for her, one she had spent a long time memorizing.

The crowd below also quieted down, waiting for Tsunade's speech.

"It's truly an honor to stand here today."

"..."

"From now on, under my leadership, Konoha will surely become even more prosperous."

"I, Tsunade, the Fourth Hokage, swear this."

Memorizing a script and actually delivering a speech were two entirely different things, but Tsunade gradually became immersed in her emotions.

The last sentence was practically shouted.

"Hokage! Hokage!"

The villagers in the audience were moved by Tsunade's passionate speech, and on the distant Hokage Rock, the final stroke was completed.

Looking at the Hokage Rock, Tsunade's face was positioned fourth from left to right.

It wasn't as expressive or lifelike as she had imagined, but one glance was enough to recognize it was her.

Thus, Tsunade's Hokage inauguration ceremony concluded successfully.

"Awesome!!"

Kawaki gave Tsunade a thumbs-up as she stepped down from the stage.

"I almost died from exhaustion. Why did you write such a long speech?"

Tsunade complained out loud, though her eyes betrayed her happiness.

"But you delivered it so well!"

"Let's go home for lunch. This afternoon, I'll take you to find a helper."

Stepping forward, Kawaki took hold of Tsunade, and they vanished in an instant.

Meanwhile, the villagers were still dispersing in an orderly fashion.

After lunch, Kawaki and Tsunade, now out of her Hokage robe, headed out together.

"Are we heading to the Nara clan?"

Kawaki kept the identity of the helper a secret to preserve the surprise, though Tsunade already had a good idea where they were headed.

"Yeah, to find Nara Shouta."

"Do you still remember him?"

Kawaki had been deeply impressed by this guy during the Second Shinobi World War—the Nara clan's intelligence was indeed top-notch.

"Of course."

Nodding, Tsunade replied. The Nara clan had raised deer for generations, and deer antlers were precious medicinal ingredients, which meant Tsunade had interacted with them many times.

"The Nara clan hates trouble—you'll need to persuade them carefully."

Rubbing his chin, Kawaki was already thinking about what he'd say next.

"Can't you just be sincere for once?" Tsunade disapproved of Kawaki's use of "persuade."

"Close enough, close enough."

"Don't get stuck on minor details."

Waving his hand dismissively, Kawaki didn't let Tsunade interrupt his train of thought.

"Better you than me," he silently apologized to Shouta.

He had absolutely no intention of dealing with all that paperwork.

It wasn't long before the two reached Nara Shouta's doorstep.

Knock knock~

Kawaki stepped up and gave the door a knock.

"Who is it?"

A voice came from inside, followed by the sound of the door opening.

Nara Shouta appeared before them, slightly surprised upon seeing the two visitors.

"Hokage-sama, Lord Kawaki."

Shouta respectfully greeted them.

"Shouta, we came to see you about something today."

"Mind if we come in and chat for a bit?"

Seeing Shouta's confusion, Kawaki wore an innocuous smile.

"Of course not."

"Please."

Nara Shouta ushered the two inside, seated them, and poured a pot of tea.

"May I ask what business the two of you have with me?"

After pouring tea for Lord Kawaki and Tsunade, Shouta sat down opposite them.

"In the Land of Rain, you made quite an impression on us."

"You have vision, a calm demeanor, and can be trusted with great responsibility."

"I believe you are also willing to contribute to the village."

"There's now a very important mission we need you to take on."

"Would you be willing to accept it?"

Lord Kawaki began by flattering Shouta, then quickly shifted into persuasion mode.

Tsunade remained silent, watching as Kawaki played his part.

"Lord Kawaki, contributing to the village is my duty as Nara Shouta."

Seeing Kawaki's serious expression and piercing gaze, Shouta truly believed this was something important.

Without thinking too much, he agreed right away.

"Excellent."

Kawaki's face lit up instantly, his smile turning sly in a way that was hard to describe.

"Congratulations—you're now officially the Hokage's assistant, effective immediately."

For a moment, Shouta didn't fully grasp the meaning. "Hokage's assistant" sounded like an actual official position.

"Isn't there supposed to be a mission?"

He turned to Tsunade in confusion. At that moment, Kawaki seemed anything but trustworthy.
