Naruto: Mission Tsunade – Time for Uncle to Step Up!

Chapter 207: Chapter 207: Hokage Rock

The following morning.

Tsunade sat at home, eating breakfast while wearing her Hokage robes. Kawaki had arranged to accompany her to the inauguration ceremony.

"Sis, you're really the Hokage now!"

"Can I join the Anbu?"

Nawaki made a reasonable request, gazing at Tsunade with hope.

"The Anbu? Have you thought this through?"

Tsunade frowned slightly, not out of unwillingness—after all, Nawaki was strong enough now and had already seen real combat.

It was simply her natural instinct to dote on and worry about her younger brother.

"I still need to grow."

Nawaki replied firmly. Without actual combat experience, he felt his progress was too slow.

He often lost sparring sessions to Minato—mainly because that guy secretly marked him with the [Flying Thunder God] technique.

Mito listened quietly to the siblings' conversation without speaking.

Children grow up and inevitably form their own minds.

"Fine, I'll agree to it."

"I'll set it up so you become a squad captain."

Making him head of the Anbu might be overkill, but assigning him as a squad leader was something Tsunade could easily handle.

"Sis, I knew you're the best for me!"

Nawaki immediately smiled happily, his grin nearly reaching his ears.

"What about me then? What about me?"

Kushina joined in playfully, pointing at herself.

"Go cool off somewhere else."

Tsunade shot her a sidelong glance before returning to her meal.

At this point, Kushina hadn't even graduated yet. Even after graduation, she'd only be a Genin. What could she possibly do?

"Pfft~"

Misaki burst out laughing directly.

"Onee-chan, you're being unfair."

Pouting, Kushina felt rather displeased inside.

"Wait until you graduate, and I'll assign you to a good Jonin team leader."

Tsunade gave at least a small promise anyway.

"Okay then."

After thinking about it, Kushina agreed. She wasn't far from graduating anymore.

Once Tsunade finished eating, as if suddenly remembering something,

She turned to Mito.

"Grandma, would you like to come watch the ceremony?"

"No need. Just don't ruin your grandfather's legacy—that's enough for me."

Mito had seen countless grand scenes before. Konoha itself was built by her husband.

This little affair didn't interest her at all—she needed to choose lanterns for the wedding later anyway.

"Alright then."

Tsunade didn't feel disappointed. This was pretty much what she'd expected.

"Where's my brother-in-law? Why isn't he here yet?"

Nawaki grew somewhat impatient waiting.

"Patience~"

Before Tsunade could finish speaking, Kawaki's voice echoed from the dining room doorway.

"Who's asking for me?"

Without guessing, everyone knew he must've come straight from his room again.

"Brother-in-law."

"Kawaki Big Bro."

Both Kushina and Misaki called out to Kawaki the same way. It remained to be seen what terms of endearment they'd use for Minato later.

"Grandma."

Kawaki nodded toward the three of them, greeting Mito first.

"Already here. Did you eat breakfast?"

Mito warmly greeted Kawaki, a bright smile lighting her face.

"Yeah, I've eaten. I came to pick up Tsunade for the inauguration ceremony."

It was no longer early. Villagers had already begun gathering in the village square.

"Hmm, you two go ahead. I'll skip the fuss."

Mito ignored Kawaki's attempt to engage her in conversation.

"Umm…then we'll be off."

Kawaki couldn't get a word in, and quickly ran out of things to say. He just ended up leaving with Tsunade instead.

Nawaki and the others naturally didn't want to miss the excitement and said their goodbyes to Mito before heading out too.

In no time, Mito was the only one left in the dining room.

"Hashirama, I bet even you never imagined that little Tsunade would become Hokage."

Mito murmured softly as she watched them disappear into the distance.

After exiting the gates of the Senju mansion, Kawaki and Tsunade made their way toward the village square. Nawaki and the others followed behind, chatting about something, occasionally letting out pleasant laughter.

"Nervous?"

Kawaki gave Tsunade's hand a gentle squeeze.

"What do I have to be nervous about? I've already been the third Hokage in our family."

Tsunade shrugged nonchalantly. Having worked closely with previous Hokage, she never really developed much reverence for the title.

"Well then, are you afraid of piles and piles of paperwork?"

Now Kawaki had hit the nail on the head.

"You promised to help me find someone."

"And if you can't find anyone, I'm dragging you back to do it yourself."

Tsunade's face dropped instantly. She could handle it if needed, but dealing with paperwork constantly was exhausting.

"Haha, I've already got someone in mind."

"Let's go invite them together after the ceremony."

Kawaki teased her playfully, and earned himself a punch for his trouble.

"Look, Big bro Kawaki got beaten up again."

Kushina even thought Tsunade was being a bit too harsh—though she herself had completely forgotten how many times she used to punch Minato.

"Heh~ Someone must've learned from my sister."

Nawaki shot Kushina a look of disdain. Misaki was definitely the nicest one around.

"I would never hit someone for no reason~"

Kushina mumbled, her voice tinged with guilt.

"Right, Misaki Onee-chan?"

She turned around looking for support.

"That's right. Our Kushina is the gentlest."

Misaki played the part of the doting older sister, though her sense of guilt seemed to vanish at that moment. As long as Kushina was happy, none of it mattered.

"Hear that?"

Kushina beamed with newfound confidence and stuck her tongue out at Nawaki.

"Forget it. Not worth arguing with you."

Noticing a subtle signal from Misaki, Nawaki decided not to argue any further with Kushina.

"Hmph!"

Kushina let out a cold snort but didn't cause any more trouble—perhaps she herself had realized something.

"Oh!"

...

When they arrived at the village square, many villagers had already gathered there.

Smiling brightly, Tsunade waved her hand and greeted the villagers. She wasn't just the hospital director—she'd also been Konoha's commander during the Second Shinobi World War, having earned high popularity among the villagers.

Indeed, the route Kawaki had planned back then had proven completely correct.

A grand stage had already been set up in the center of the village square, banners fluttering in the breeze.

Flanking either side were over a dozen Anbu, radiating an imposing presence.

At the center of the stage stood a high-end microphone, much more advanced than the makeshift one used during Hiruzen Sarutobi's inauguration.

"You finally showed up."

Nemu Koharu, who had been hard at work for quite some time, rushed forward to greet Tsunade the moment she appeared.

"This way, please."

"Before Tsunade could even speak, she was already being dragged away by Nemu Koharu.

"You three go find Minato and watch the ceremony together," Kawaki said, dismissing Nawaki and the others before hurrying after Tsunade.

"What's the rush?" Tsunade grumbled as Nemu Koharu pulled her along.

"My Hokage-sama, they need to carve your likeness onto the Hokage Rock right alongside your inauguration speech."

"You need to pick a photo right now."

"The sculptors are waiting impatiently."

After Nemu Koharu explained, Tsunade finally got it. Her carved likeness would stand alongside those of her two grandfathers and her teacher.

"I'll definitely be the prettiest one," Tsunade grinned, finally feeling something stir inside her.

"And you're also the youngest Hokage ever," Kawaki chimed in from behind.

"Obviously," Tsunade said with a smug tilt of her head.

Following Nemu Koharu's lead, Tsunade met with the stone carver and chose the photo where she looked happiest as the model.

After going over the details, Tsunade saw the sculptor off, fully satisfied.
