"Sir, should we strike first?" Kakuzu said suddenly. "I recently discovered that an Anbu secretly left Konoha. It's likely Danzō's messenger. With your order, we can kill him quickly."

A murderous aura emanated from Kakuzu. As a bounty hunter in Akatsuki, he'd even killed teammates. Only around Kai did he restrain his temper.

"Haha, such a fun game. Why end it early? Let Danzō jump around a bit longer," Kai smiled warmly, his nine-tomoe Sharingan spinning. Black flames erupted, incinerating the scroll.

"Where's Sasori?" Kai frowned. He didn't want his subordinate to be attacked by Kakuzu.

"He took a job destroying a cult in the Land of Hot Water. I saw the Daimyo's offer—a large sum—so I let him go," Kakuzu explained, producing a bounty poster.

It didn't show a picture, only text:

"Fifty million ryō bounty for destroying the Jashin Cult in the Land of Hot Water."

Considering the timeline, Hidan would be eleven or twelve years old. With the war, the Jashin Cult would want Hidan active. The Land of Hot Water's Daimyo had posted the bounty in the black market.

The Village Hidden in Hot Water bordered the Land of Earth. Usually, the Daimyo would pay Iwagakure to handle such issues. But Iwagakure was under attack by the Third Raikage's surprise force, aiming for the two tailed beasts. They couldn't handle the Jashin Cult.

"Sir, you won't interfere, will you?" Kakuzu asked. Kai's presence was overwhelming, comparable to the First Hokage and Madara.

"The Jashin Cult has a good target. He might become our companion," Kai smiled warmly.

"Besides, aren't you worried about Sasori and want to go with him?"

It was fate. It would be a good way to pass the time.

Kakuzu's expression changed. Kai had seen through him. "Sir, you see through everything."

"Sasori keeps talking about art and materials. I'm worried he won't negotiate well and won't get the fifty million ryō. It'll be a loss."

"So, I hope you'll let me go."

Kai sighed at the artist and the miser. Akatsuki members were all problematic.

"Alright. We have time before Danzō acts. Let's go to the Land of Hot Water. You lead the way," Kai patted Kakuzu's shoulder. He knew Kakuzu's weakness was money.

"Sir, I've made preparations," Kakuzu said happily. "But many have taken the job due to the high bounty."

"We'll meet them. I might need to handle some minor issues."

Kai didn't object. He was interested in the black market.

After Kai left Konoha, Uchiha Fugaku rushed back to the Uchiha compound.

He found no sign of Kai but was shocked by what he saw at the gate.

"Clan Head, the three elders have been waiting for you."

Four guards said in unison. One was Uchiha Ishi, injured by Kai.

"Ishi, your injuries healed quickly. If Kai had hit harder, you'd be dead," Uchiha Fugaku said coldly.

Ishi froze, his face twitching. His challenge to Kai was known throughout the compound. But no one dared mention it openly.

Ishi's face darkened. "Fugaku, I'm giving you face by calling you Clan Head. Without it, you're nothing."

"The three elders will remove you. I'll be the next Clan Head."

You?

Uchiha Fugaku paused, then sneered. "You're a waste. Even if it's Kai or Shisui, it won't be you."

"You're just a guide dog."

"Damn it!" Ishi shouted angrily.

But he met Fugaku's three-tomoe Sharingan. An oppressive aura washed over him. It was pure killing intent. It was enough to intimidate Ishi and other inexperienced juniors.

"This isn't the time for arguing. Fugaku, don't blame Ishi. He wants the Uchiha clan to rise," Uchiha Hou said calmly.

He paused, glancing back. "I heard Mikoto is pregnant again. Another Itachi-level genius would be a blessing. Protect them. Don't let anything happen."
