Chapter 127: MSOC: Chapter 127
"Impossible! This is impossible! He must have deliberately released them; otherwise, that genjutsu couldn't be broken," Sarutobi Rou snarled, his features contorted with rage. He watched as all forty-eight students, along with the two teachers, emerged from the genjutsu. For the esteemed principal, this was utterly humiliating.
"Brother, Teacher Kai didn't release us. Itachi told us the method," Sarutobi Asuma said respectfully.
"This test was about courage!"
"To be killed, then rebuild your body, and then summon the courage to face life and death, making the final choice—that was the teacher's ultimate goal."
Asuma looked at Kai. "If I were to judge, this graduation exam was far more important than three years of study."
"Yeah, when we graduated, we worried about facing enemies on the battlefield, but now we're not afraid."
"With this experience, we won't be paralyzed by fear like before."
"Tch, you think every enemy on the battlefield will be as strong as the teacher? Don't forget, he's known as the Blood-Red Asura!"
The scene erupted into a cacophony of excited voices. The students, initially resentful of Kai, now overwhelmingly praised him as "Teacher." It felt surreal.
"Haha! Did you see? My son, Hizashi Hyuga, passed the most brutal graduation exam in history! He'll surpass me! Jōnin is just around the corner!" one parent exclaimed, bursting into laughter.
"Tch, I'm going to a celebratory gathering. I've already prepared my speech: My son, broke through the Blood-Red Asura's genjutsu, excelling in the most brutal exam, becoming a top-tier genin!" a nearby parent countered, unwilling to be outdone.
The vast courtyard was instantly filled with boisterous displays of pride and bragging. Some conversations were even more outlandish:
"Did your son attempt suicide?"
"Which attempt was your son's successful one?"
"How did your son commit suicide?"
Even the Third Hokage and the other high-ranking officials could only exchange wry smiles at these bizarre exchanges. They hadn't anticipated that this historically brutal graduation exam would spark such a trend. People would greet each other with, "Did your kid try to kill themselves?" This phrase became synonymous with this graduating class—the disciples of the Blood-Red Asura, the suicide survivors!
Of course, this was all in the future. Even Kai wouldn't have foreseen that his unintentional actions would forge these forty-eight graduates into the future backbone of Konoha's fighting force—Suicide Survivors 48!
"Alright," the Third Hokage said, glancing at the dejected Sarutobi Rou, sighing inwardly. He knew that if Rou hadn't run, he wouldn't be the exception. If he'd been killed and reborn, he too would be celebrated. But now, his arguments were futile; even his title as one of Konoha's Eight Colors couldn't add to his credibility.
"Next, the genin graduation ceremony. Since the parents are here, join us. As for Kai!" The Third Hokage looked towards Uchiha Kai.
Before he could speak, Kai, leaning against the tree, smiled warmly. With a bang, his body dissolved into white mist, dispersing into the air.
The sudden action left everyone speechless. These brothers were certainly cut from the same cloth.
Using shadow clones to deal with the genin graduation ceremony? Was this contempt or mockery?
Compared to the shock of the others, Sarutobi Rou wanted nothing more than to find a hole to crawl into. He couldn't even defeat a single shadow clone, let alone seek revenge on Kai!
"Teacher, Kai truly plays by his own rules, but everything he does is impeccable," Tsunade suddenly commented.
"The aura of these forty-eight genin has changed; they exude resilience and decisiveness. On the battlefield, they'll rival experienced ninjas."
"This assessment method might be worth considering."
The Third Hokage and Jiraiya exchanged wry smiles and eye rolls at this suggestion.
"Tsunade, don't be too naive. Instantly creating a linked genjutsu space is only possible for the Uchiha clan, perhaps. Others can, forget it," Jiraiya explained helplessly.
"And maintaining such a vast genjutsu space requires extremely high demands on the caster's mental strength and genjutsu skill. This exam is impossible to replicate."
The Third Hokage nodded in agreement, sighing as he watched Kai's shadow clone dissipate.
"That kid always does the unexpected. Sometimes, you really don't want to be his enemy; otherwise, you might not even know how you die."
Jiraiya and Tsunade fell silent, unable to refute this.
Meanwhile, outside Konoha, a dark figure, like a phantom, landed on a basin, startling Kakuzu, who was sitting on a rock, his expression grim.
"Kai-sama, you've finally arrived," Kakuzu said, his expression tightening, then relaxing.
Kai nodded, frowning. "What's so urgent?"
After escaping the genjutsu, Kai had seen Kakuzu's communication hawk and left a shadow clone at the academy before departing. He considered Kakuzu, with his Kage-level strength and Sasori by his side, capable of easily destroying a small country.
"It's a message from Tenzo," Kakuzu said, producing a scroll.
"While approaching Kisame, he learned that Danzō is secretly contacting the Land of Water, possibly related to the Third Mizukage's assassination. He didn't know the details, but thinking it might be connected to you, he decided to report it."
Kai took the scroll. It contained more detailed information than Kakuzu had described, including the exact time of the meeting between Danzō's messenger and the Land of Water's Daimyo. The massacre of most of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen and the Third Mizukage's assassination had clearly elevated Tenzo and Kisame's positions, granting them access to crucial classified information.
