Naruto: Maelstrom Of The Uzumaki

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Kid, Don’t Cause Trouble for Nothing!

"Konoha Village is a ninja village co-founded by the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama, and many ninja families. Under the leadership of Senju Hashirama..."

A ray of morning sunlight passed through the window and shone on the desk. This was Raiden's first class at the Ninja Academy, and his seat was in the penultimate row by the window, famously known as the "sun spa area."

The class consisted of more than a dozen students. At this moment, Raiden was leaning on his chin with his left hand, casually playing with a kunai under the desk with his right hand, gazing out the window absentmindedly.

"The History of Konoha" was neatly placed on his desk, but Raiden hadn't even opened it.

Raiden had already seen the Ninja Academy schedule, and to be honest, he was disappointed. The first-year curriculum focused heavily on basic studies, particularly literacy, with no sign of ninjutsu.

Instead, physical training classes dominated the schedule, with three sessions a week. Though disappointed, Raiden quickly understood the reasoning.

Most first-year students were under seven years old, and many of them didn't even know the basics of reading and writing. Learning literacy was essential. As for the so-called "History of Konoha," it seemed intended to foster a sense of identity among the children, which was understandable.

The lack of ninjutsu classes also made sense to Raiden. After all, the six-year Ninja Academy program culminated in a graduation test based on the most basic techniques—Transformation Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu, and Clone Jutsu. The academy wasn't going to teach advanced or powerful ninjutsu.

"The academy really is a training ground for cannon fodder in times of war," Raiden thought grimly. "Kids who only know basic techniques—what else can they be besides cannon fodder on the battlefield?"

"It's no wonder so many geniuses graduate early. A test based on basic techniques? I've already mastered those since I was four."

Raiden sighed inwardly. "Six years with these brats... How am I going to survive this? But at least I can focus on building my Yin Seal. That'll keep me busy for the next couple of years."

Raiden's attitude toward class was markedly different from the other children, who listened with wide-eyed admiration whenever the First Hokage was mentioned. In contrast, Raiden paid no attention. His indifference didn't go unnoticed by the teacher.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" The sound of chalk striking the blackboard echoed.

"Uzumaki Raiden! Stand up and tell me what I just said!"

The history teacher, Shingo Katori, a middle-aged man in his thirties and a loyal supporter of the Third Hokage, glared at Raiden. Shingo, already slightly overweight, gestured dramatically as he spoke, his stomach wobbling with every movement.

"Teachers are the same in every world, huh?" Raiden mused. "If I don't answer, will he make me stand outside?"

Resigning himself, Raiden slowly stood up, casually sliding the kunai into his sleeve.

"Sorry, Teacher Shingo. I don't know," Raiden replied bluntly. He hadn't opened the book, so honesty was his only option. However, his indifferent tone made Shingo's face turn an unpleasant shade of blue.

"You haven't even opened the book? Are you mocking me?" Shingo roared. "Get out and stand in the hallway with your book!"

With a helpless sigh, Raiden grabbed "The History of Konoha" and walked out of the classroom.

"Figures. Teachers are all the same," he muttered, balancing the book on his head and taking out his kunai to idly twirl it. Closing his eyes, he began focusing on refining his chakra.

The Yin Seal Raiden was constructing, with help from Uzumaki Mito, was stable and capable of storing a massive amount of chakra. Although Raiden was born with a naturally large chakra reserve, filling the seal would still take considerable time. Thus, he used every spare moment, even at school, to refine chakra.

"That's all for today's class. Dismissed!"

Raiden wasn't sure how much time had passed when Shingo announced the end of the lesson. As the teacher exited the classroom, he cast an annoyed glance at Raiden, who appeared to be napping against the wall. Shingo huffed, extending his hand toward Raiden but hesitated, snorted, and walked away instead.

Hearing the dismissal, Raiden opened his eyes just in time to see Shingo's back retreating.

"Next time, I should refine chakra while sitting. It's more comfortable than standing," he muttered, removing the book from his head as he headed back to his seat.

Before he could sit down, a mocking voice called out.

"Look who's here—our one and only Uzumaki Raiden!"

"Already slacking off in the first class, huh? How arrogant!"

Three boys blocked Raiden's path. The one in the middle, sporting a gaudy hairstyle, sneered at him. Raiden stared at the boy's ridiculous look and sighed.

"Kids under ten pulling off this kind of style? Must've lost brain cells."

"Since you know I'm ahead of you, you should also know our strength levels aren't the same. If I were you, I'd avoid provoking someone stronger. Now, move, and I'll pretend this didn't happen."

Raiden calmly reached out to push the boy aside, but his words only fueled the boy's anger.

"You think you're better than me, outsider?!" The boy roared, throwing a punch aimed at Raiden's face with surprising speed.

Raiden dodged just in time. Annoyed, he retorted, "You know I'm from another village? Are you even a Konoha ninja?"

Anger flared within Raiden as the boy's attacks became fiercer. He countered with a kick to the boy's abdomen, using eight-tenths of his strength, but was shocked when the boy dodged effortlessly.

"What the...?" Raiden thought, startled. Before he could recover, the boy pulled out a talisman covered in strange markings and slapped it toward Raiden's chest.

"These kids aren't normal students!" Raiden realized. "Attacking me in the academy—who's behind this?"

Unable to use chakra due to his Yin Seal, Raiden reacted quickly, drawing his kunai to block the talisman.

"Who sent you?!" he demanded, hoping his loud voice would draw the teacher's attention. Some of the other students, realizing something was wrong, ran to fetch help.

The boy hesitated when he saw Raiden's kunai, then swiftly retreated, smashing through a classroom window before escaping. His movements were too skilled to belong to an ordinary student.

As Raiden watched him flee, he noticed the other two boys had vanished as well.

"A premeditated attack? Were the other kids just distractions?" Raiden's expression darkened. "So much for a peaceful school life. Is my presence already drawing attention?"

Suspicious of who might be behind the attack, Raiden muttered grimly, "If in doubt, blame Danzo, the master schemer."

After explaining the incident to the teachers, who promptly reported it to the Third Hokage, Raiden returned to class. Yet, the unsettling encounter lingered in his mind.
