Naruto: Kushina's Redemption, My Revenge

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: A Frustrated Kakashi

"Hurry up!"

"Did you skip breakfast or something?"

"If you can't keep up, you won't be getting lunch later!"

Chinya walked slowly ahead while Kakashi gritted his teeth, staggering forward with every ounce of willpower he had left.

Right now, Kakashi was forcing himself forward purely on willpower. He didn't even have the energy to talk anymore.

Inside, Kakashi was seething.

This guy really treats people like machines.

Who starts training this intensely right from the beginning?

The intensity itself wasn't that high, but making it hard to breathe normally—what kind of training was that?!

At this state, just walking felt impossible. Dizzy and lightheaded, how could he possibly train?

After walking a distance, Chinya finally stopped and said words that sounded like heavenly music to Kakashi.

"Let's take a short break."

Immediately, Kakashi collapsed onto the ground, trying desperately to take a deep breath, but the mask only made him feel more suffocated.

Chinya reminded him, "Regulate your breathing. Slow, rhythmic, long breaths. That's how you'll stabilize your breathing."

Kakashi gradually adjusted his breathing until he finally calmed down.

"How do you feel?" Chinya asked.

"Terrible!" Kakashi grumbled.

Chinya gave a small smile. "You're doing a lot better than yesterday—even after just one day. You should feel the difference."

Kakashi took a moment to reflect—and realized it was true.

Yesterday, he couldn't even catch his breath at all. Now, although the suffocation remained, he could at least start breathing normally again.

Chinya explained, "You're still adapting. Since it's only just started, your progress shows up fast. Once you can breathe normally even with this heavy mask on, you've succeeded. That means you'll be able to pull in a ton of oxygen in seconds."

Kakashi couldn't believe it. "That's all?" he blurted.

Chinya looked at Kakashi, whose face had gone pale from exhaustion, with an odd expression. "Really that simple?"

"Uh…" Kakashi quickly corrected himself. "Not simple at all! Not even a little bit!"

He must've already been losing brain cells from lack of oxygen—there was no other excuse for him to underestimate it like that.

Not simple one bit!

Reaching the point where your breathing feels normal again doesn't actually mean you're done.

According to Chinya's requirements, having normal breathing meant being able to maintain that same calm rhythm even during battle.

But normal breathing and breathing in battle were completely different things.

Honestly, Kakashi already believed this breathing technique could drastically boost physical performance by flooding the blood with oxygen in seconds.

Standing up from the ground, Chinya said, "Rest time's about over. Let's go again."

Kakashi groaned pitifully, "Already?! Can I get just a little longer break?"

Without hesitation, Chinya refused, "No way. Right now we need to push you hard. Later, if we run into Rock Ninja, I'm planning on sending you to fight."

"What?"

Kakashi was stunned.

Did he actually expect him to fight when they encountered Rock ninja later?

In his current condition, wouldn't he just be like a sitting duck—helpless and vulnerable?

Why does it have to be this hard?

Kakashi had always looked forward to receiving missions that involved fighting against ninja.

But now, never before had he wanted so badly not to run into enemies.

As they say, the thing you fear most is exactly what always happens.

Chinya suddenly stopped walking.

"There are three ninja heading our way at three o'clock. This area is a contact zone between Konoha shinobi and Rock ninja. It's safe to assume they're Rock ninja. Let's go, Kakashi."

Kakashi stared at Chinya in disbelief. "Sensei Chinya, are you really going to send me in like this?"

Chinya shot Kakashi a sideways glance. "Do you think I'm joking? I've already told you, I prefer teaching through combat experience. Unless your life is in immediate danger, I won't step in."

Kakashi widened his eyes. "You've gotta be kidding! You expect me to fight three of them alone?"

"I hadn't realized before how many issues you have. Back when I was in the Land of Hot Water, if my subordinates hesitated after receiving an order, I would've already taken action against them. The only reason I'm being patient with you is because you're my student. But don't mistake my patience for limitless tolerance."

"Alright, alright, I'll go."

With Chinya's final command weighing over him, Kakashi could only advance unwillingly.

Kakashi quietly approached the three ninja Chinya had sensed.

Sure enough, they were Rock ninja.

Kakashi muttered in confusion, "I didn't see Sensei using any Sensor Ninjutsu, so how did he detect them?"

He sighed again. "Might as well take care of myself first. In my current state, it's like having my hands and feet bound. How am I supposed to fight under these circumstances?"

He had no intention of relying on Chinya to rescue him.

As a prodigy, Kakashi had his own pride.

Even though his condition was terrible right now, he still wanted to find a way to kill the enemy.

Rather than blindly rushing headlong and hoping Chinya would bail him out.

As Kakashi was thinking about how to deal with these three Rock ninja, his heavy breathing had already caught their attention.

The three Rock ninja didn't act rashly but exchanged subtle glances instead, pretending as if nothing had happened and continued moving forward.

Suddenly, Kakashi sensed something wrong.

Because those three Rock ninja were stepping incorrectly.

On the battlefield, Kakashi was used to observing opponents first.

Earlier, these three Rock ninja walked very casually, but now, their steps had become heavier, and their bodies slightly tilted toward his direction.

Kakashi's pupils contracted.

He'd been discovered!

Kakashi currently held no advantage, and had planned to take them down with a surprise attack.

But now that he'd been detected, he was at an absolute disadvantage.

Without hesitation, Kakashi immediately began retreating.

The three Rock ninja noticed Kakashi retreating and realized he understood they had discovered him.

One Rock ninja immediately started forming hand seals.

[Earth Release! Terraquake!]

One of the Rock Ninjas triggered a collapse beneath Kakashi's feet, making the ground give out.

Feeling the tremor, Kakashi immediately dove to his left.

Where he had just stood, a deep pit suddenly opened. If not for his lightning-fast dive, Kakashi would have fallen right into it.

Even a short burst of intense motion left Kakashi gasping for breath. His ears began to ring. He tried to get up, but his legs suddenly went weak, and he collapsed back onto the ground.

By now, three Rock Ninjas had surrounded Kakashi.

Seeing his current state, the three Iwa ninja felt quite puzzled.

What's wrong with this Konoha ninja? He looks like he can't even stand!
