Naruto: Kushina's Redemption, My Revenge

Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Meeting with Mito Uzumaki

Inside the Hokage's Office.

Sarutobi Hiruzen and Orochimaru were discussing the current state of the ninja world.

Chinya listened quietly from the side.

Orochimaru thought for a moment before asking, "So, Sensei, are you planning to send me to the Land of Rivers to stop those Sunagakure ninja?"

When Chinya heard Orochimaru's words, his heart skipped a beat.

He definitely wanted battlefield experience—but not now!

If Ame Village ninjas attacked Kushina Uzumaki while he was away from Konoha, even if he could fly, there'd be no way to get back in time.

He had to ensure Kushina's safety before heading off to battle.

But Sarutobi Hiruzen's next words eased Chinya's worries.

"There's no need to worry about Sunagakure for now. The ninja stationed at the border of the Land of Rivers will be enough to handle them. Over the coming days, Orochimaru, work with me to develop strategies and decide how Konoha should respond to this situation."

Orochimaru was top-tier when it came to strategic planning.

During the Second Great Ninja World War, he led ninja units and won many difficult battles.

Konoha's current situation was far from optimistic.

Orochimaru's strategic thinking was exactly what Konoha urgently needed now.

Orochimaru nodded. "I understand."

Chinya let out a breath of relief—staying in Konoha for now was good.

After Sarutobi and Orochimaru talked a bit longer, Orochimaru left the Hokage Tower with Chinya.

On the way, Orochimaru suddenly asked, "Chinya, you heard our conversation earlier. If all four great villages launched a simultaneous attack on Konoha, what do you think would be the solution?"

The question caught Chinya off guard, leaving him slightly unprepared.

As for the specific details of the upcoming Third Great Ninja War, Chinya wasn't entirely sure either.

After a long silence filled with deep thought, Chinya finally spoke. "What causes the four great villages to unite against Konoha is nothing but interest. Every past Ninja World War revolved around interest.

If interest can make Iwagakure and Kumogakure cooperate, then it can also drive a wedge between them."

Orochimaru seemed fairly satisfied with Chinya's answer. "Then how would you use interest to turn these two villages against each other?"

Chinya shook his head. "Sorry, Orochimaru-sensei, I don't know."

Indeed, Chinya had no idea what kind of interest could split Iwagakure and Kumogakure.

First, he didn't know what sort of benefit Konoha could offer to create discord between the two villages.

Second, the cooperation between Iwagakure and Kumogakure aimed solely at plundering the rich resources of the Land of Fire.

He couldn't just walk up to one of the villages and say, "Let's team up and attack our former ally."

They'd already decided to invade Konoha together—why would they abandon their current allies to cooperate with you?

In Chinya's opinion, only after understanding the specifics of Iwagakure and Kumogakure's alliance could Konoha effectively target it, offering an even greater interest to tempt one village into betrayal.

Orochimaru didn't seem to mind Chinya's hesitation—after all, the question wasn't an easy one to answer.

Orochimaru said to Chinya, "I'll be busy afterward and won't be staying at the base every day. Today will be your day off. Tomorrow, I'll take you to form a contract with Ryuchi Cave, and then I'll set up your next training regimen, which you'll carry out on your own.

"If there are any suitable missions in the future, I'll still help you get them assigned. But from now on, you'll likely complete them alone."

Hearing that he had a day off, Chinya couldn't stop himself from smiling.

After glancing at Chinya, Orochimaru already knew exactly what Chinya wanted to do.

"Go ahead."

"Thank you, Professor Orochimaru! Then I'll take my leave now. See you tomorrow!"

Chinya waved goodbye and hurriedly ran forward.

...

In front of Mito Uzumaki's estate, Chinya felt slightly nervous and excited.

It had already been a month since he last saw Kushina Uzumaki.

Chinya knocked on the gate of Mito Uzumaki's estate.

Soon, he heard rapid footsteps—clearly someone was running.

The estate gate opened.

Chinya only saw a flash of red before someone leaped into his arms.

Chinya embraced Kushina Uzumaki gently and lovingly rubbed the back of her head. "Long time no see, Kushina."

Kushina Uzumaki loosened her grip around him, pouted, and punched him lightly on the chest. "Why did it take you so long to come see me? I thought you'd forgotten about me completely!"

Chinya's expression stiffened for a moment.

How had Kushina Uzumaki become so strong lately?

He scratched his nose. "How could I possibly forget you? I might forget anyone else, but never you. It's just that Master Orochimaru's training schedule has been pretty intense. I barely had any free time. It was only recently, after completing a mission, that Master Orochimaru finally gave me a day off.

Oh right, Kushina. How did you know it was me coming to visit?"

Kushina Uzumaki answered, "Grandma Mito told me. She has a special ability—it lets her sense movements across a wide area using chakra."

Chinya immediately understood what unique ability Mito Uzumaki possessed.

[Mind's Eye of the Kagura]—one of the special abilities inherent to the Uzumaki Clan.

Kushina Uzumaki took Chinya's hand and pulled him toward the inside of the estate. "Grandma Mito misses you too! Let's go see her together!"

As Kushina dragged Chinya along, he let out an almost imperceptible sigh.

Honestly, he didn't really want to see Mito Uzumaki right now. All he wanted was to spend some quiet time alone with Kushina.

Still, Chinya ended up meeting Mito Uzumaki.

Compared to the last time he had seen her, Mito Uzumaki now clearly looked like an elderly woman.

He bowed respectfully. "Lady Mito."

Mito regarded Chinya with a gentle smile.

The Chinya who stood before her now—who had already taken lives—had a completely different aura than before, one marked by sharpness and confidence.

"You've grown up, Chinya," Mito sighed softly.

Chinya replied respectfully, "Before Lady Mito, I'm still just a child."

"Chinya, you don't need to be so guarded around me," Mito Uzumaki sighed, sensing the distance between herself and Chinya.

Chinya slightly furrowed his brow while keeping his head lowered, still responding in a formal tone, "Lady Mito, you are my senior."

Chinya's meaning was clear—Mito Uzumaki was his superior, and he was merely showing respect, not being defensive.

Mito shook her head with a weary sigh.

As the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, she possessed the ability to distinguish between good and ill intent—especially attuned to malice due to the Nine-Tails' chakra.

When she first met Chinya, although Chinya had appeared nearly flawless, Mito could clearly sense his caution and emotional distance toward her.

Even now, Chinya still gave off that same distant vibe.
