Naruto: I have Ten Skill Bars

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: The Twisted Path of Boil Release and Skill Bar Evolution

How does one actually fuse two chakra natures?

Shigure was utterly baffled, though he still had some clues to follow.

His Transparent Release, for instance, technically counted as a Kekkei Genkai—a Bloodline Limit. But the chakra fusion involved in it was still murky in his mind.

Boil Release...

As he focused on the faint, fluctuating chakra, Shigure felt like he was on the cusp of understanding something—but it kept slipping away, like trying to catch mist with bare hands.

[Analyzing Chakra Fusion Techniques...]

[Analysis in Progress...]

"Wait, you can analyze that?"

[Great Sage※: Why not?]

This so-called intelligent system had the IQ of a log sometimes. If it could do that, why didn't it mention it sooner?

The progress bar crawled forward at a decent pace.

Shigure muttered, "So once the analysis completes, does that mean I'll automatically master chakra fusion?"

[Great Sage※: In theory, yes.]

"In theory?"

Was that a yes or a no?

Shigure didn't bother pressing further. He'd find out soon enough once the system finished.

He continued channeling chakra, letting it flow and integrate within his body. The analysis percentage climbed steadily—roughly 5% per minute.

Twenty minutes later, it was done.

[Congratulations to the host. New skill acquired: Chakra Fusion Technique.]

Suddenly, a flood of knowledge surged into Shigure's mind.

Previously, Transparent Release had come to him almost instinctively. But now, he understood it. The process of chakra fusion wasn't some blind guess anymore—it was a science.

Step one: initiate chakra nature transformation in two different parts of the body.

Step two: guide both transformed chakras together, being careful not to let them clash.

Step three: attempt to fuse them, and subtly shift their properties again during contact.

It sounded easy on paper. In practice, it was anything but.

"Can you analyze Fire-Style fusion next?"

[Great Sage※: Only existing or currently studied skills can be analyzed. Skills the host hasn't begun learning or encountered cannot be calculated. System's processing capacity is still limited.]

"In other words, I'm on my own again."

[Great Sage※: Correct.]

Fine. At least now that he had the fundamentals of chakra fusion down, combining his water and fire attributes wasn't entirely out of reach. He could take the first step.

He picked the simplest possible method: channeling different natures into each hand.

Left hand—water attribute.

Right hand—fire attribute.

He initiated both at once.

Total failure. His chakra flared wildly out of control.

Second attempt—same mess.

Half an hour slipped by as he practiced the most basic steps. But slowly, ever so slowly, progress came.

After repeated tries, Shigure managed to hold both chakra nature changes for two full seconds. Not long enough to merge them—but a milestone, nonetheless.

And then, his chakra destabilized again, dispersing wildly.

But at that moment, a new system prompt popped up.

[Congratulations to the host. New skill acquired: Dual-Attribute Chakra Transformation.]

"...Huh?"

[Great Sage※: The system has registered your new skill.]

"Was that necessary?" he mumbled, still confused.

He opened his skill list and found it—Dual-Attribute Chakra Transformation, logged and ready.

That meant he could now assign this to his passive skill slot.

Shigure's eyes lit up.

Without hesitation, he took out a chakra refining technique and slotted in his newest skill.

Let the next experiment begin...

Once the skill activated, twenty seconds passed.

[Passive Skill: Dual-Attribute Chakra Transformation – One cycle complete]

That familiar sensation returned. Shigure could feel his grasp on dual-nature chakra transformation growing more refined.

As always, the passive skill bar was absurdly effective—it rapidly increased his mastery over the technique.

So every bit of progress he made while fusing fire chakra would be registered by the system as part of a skill?

Then, by hanging that skill in the passive slot, he could refine it—consolidate or even evolve it over time.

Once it became strong enough, he could move on to the next stage.

"Amazing..."

"Ridiculously strong!"

"This is the most broken ability in the whole passive skill bar!"

With that realization, Shigure decided to remove everything else. Only one chakra refining technique remained—everything else was replaced with this new skill.

Once the same skill appeared twice in the skill list, its usage would become free—no chakra cost at all.

So every twenty seconds, Shigure's dual-attribute chakra control improved incrementally.

At the same time, he continued refining and evolving the technique itself. With each cycle, his coordination between two chakra natures became noticeably smoother.

It was visible to the naked eye—Shigure's improvement was rapid and steady.

"Looks like developing Boil Release isn't impossible after all."

"In fact... I might even succeed tonight!"

He was thrilled. Not just because of Boil Release, but also because of the broader implications: if he could fuse two chakra natures once, what about other Kekkei Genkai in the future?

If this method worked, he could potentially master all of them.

Every single bloodline limit—within reach.

But that was for another time. Right now, his top priority was to completely master dual-attribute transformation—at least to the point where actual fusion was possible.

Two hours passed.

Shigure updated his skill nearly fifty times. His mastery was growing by the minute.

Eventually, he could maintain both chakra properties simultaneously—for an entire hour.

However, there was a limitation: once the chakra was transformed, it couldn't be stored. The only thing he could do was prolong the state for as long as possible.

"I can now hold both chakra types for an hour straight. That should be enough to attempt the next step—fusion."

He removed the Dual-Attribute Chakra Transformation skill from the passive slot and re-equipped the chakra refining technique.

The second step—chakra fusion—was far more dangerous than the first.

Merging two different chakra natures inside the body could easily backfire. If done wrong, the backlash might kill him on the spot.

"Let's try external fusion first."

Shigure brought his palms together. Chakra surged from each hand—water nature from the left, fire from the right.

As soon as the two chakra streams touched—

Boom!

A violent shockwave exploded outward.

Shigure was thrown across the room.

Fire chakra flared like shrapnel, shooting out like bullets and setting nearby curtains ablaze.

Crashing into the floor, Shigure clutched his chest in pain. But he had no time to check his injuries—he scrambled to put out the fire spreading through the room.

When it was finally out, he slumped down amidst the wreckage.

He let out a wry smile.

"Looks like developing a Kekkei Genkai isn't as easy as I thought..."

But Shigure wasn't about to give up that easily.

"Again."

Though... maybe not inside the house this time.

I seriously think he should invest in some kind of healing jutsu or technique... I just have this weird feeling it's gonna be very, very useful, very, very often... 🤔💀 I don't know why... surely it's just a hunch. 😅
