Chapter 30: 30 - War Returns
Such a terrifying talent, Shiratori might be too difficult for Chiba to guide in his training.
He realized this. It seemed he had to report this to Hanzō.
"Come with me to see Hanzō-sama."
Shiratori nodded and followed behind Chiba. He turned and waved to the three ninjas: "Goodbye!"
The Lightning and Fire Release users: "..."
Better if we don't see him again. Otherwise, our hearts won't be at ease.
Shiratori jogged a few steps and looked at Chiba beside him, asking, "Why are we going to see Hanzō-sama?"
Chiba replied, "Your talent is extraordinary. Only he is qualified to guide you."
"Huh?"
He looked at the boy.
Shiratori's face showed a trace of joyful pride: "Really?"
Chiba nodded, a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. Still just a kid, after all.
"But I think you're really strong too, Chiba-nisan!" Shiratori added.
The corners of Chiba's mouth gently lifted into a slight smile.
"Chiba." A figure leaped down from the rooftop and landed beside him.
"Amanagi?"
Chiba saw the urgency in his eyes and asked, "What happened?"
Amanagi spoke rapidly: "A group of several hundred ninjas is approaching from the southwest."
Chiba's expression immediately turned serious.
"Report to Hanzō-sama first. I'll arrive shortly."
Amanagi nodded. "Understood."
His figure leaped back onto the rooftops and, in a few bounds, disappeared from sight.
"Shiratori," Chiba turned and looked at him seriously, "Do you remember the path to the tower from yesterday?"
Shiratori's eyes sparkled as he nodded. "I remember!"
Chiba reached out and gently patted his head, instructing, "Go hide in the tower now. Do not come out."
War was about to break out again.
"Okay!"
He turned and ran toward the tower from yesterday. Watching his back, Chiba let out a sigh of relief.
Though Shiratori had extraordinary talent, he was still far too young, and war was full of constant danger. The tower was currently the safest place in all of Ame.
Medical-nin would also be there to care for him.
Only when he was completely out of sight did Chiba turn and run toward Hanzō's office.
"Hanzō-sama!"
By the time Chiba arrived, Hanzō was already fully armored for battle.
Hanzō gave Chiba a glance and asked, "Where's Shiratori?"
Chiba explained, "I sent him to the tower."
Hanzō nodded, clearly satisfied with Chiba's decision. That location was safe enough, and Shiratori could even help tend to wounded ninjas inside.
"Let's go."
Hanzō strode quickly toward the door. He leaped onto the rooftop, and behind him emerged a dark wave of Ame ninjas, like a gathering storm cloud.
Chiba walked alongside him. "Hanzō-sama, after this war ends, you should personally guide Shiratori."
Hanzō glanced at him from the corner of his eye.
"Why?"
Chiba looked straight ahead, pausing briefly. "That child is a gifted, he can master any ninjutsu just by looking at it once."
Hanzō turned his head in disbelief to look at Chiba, who met his gaze quietly, eyes full of seriousness.
Hanzō looked away, calming the waves that had surged in his heart.
"Alright!"
Hanzō looked straight ahead, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Once we win this war, I'll go see just how talented he really is, for you to speak of him like this."
He knew that Chiba was a genius ninja himself. For a genius ninja to call someone else a genius, how talented must that child be?
---
Outside the tower, the iron door was knocked on. A medical-nin nervously opened the door and looked down.
"Shiratori."
The medical-nin immediately pulled Shiratori inside the tower.
"Are you hurt?"
The medical-nin crouched down in concern, carefully checking him from head to toe.
Shiratori pushed away the hand trying to lift his clothes, insisting,
"I'm fine! I'm not hurt! The enemy didn't get inside."
Only then did the medical-nin breathe a sigh of relief.
"Stay here and don't go outside, it's dangerous out there."
The medical-nin led him further inside. The ninjas whom he had healed yesterday were standing guard inside the tower. When they saw Shiratori, they promised, "Don't worry. We'll protect you. We absolutely won't let anything happen to you."
He looked at them, smiling brightly, and promised in return, "I'll protect you all too."
The ninjas all laughed together.
"Let's continue treating the wounded."
Since he was already here, he might as well earn some gratitude points. Shiratori said to the two medical-nin beside him.
Although many had already been treated yesterday, the number of injured ninjas was rising much faster than the rate of healing. Now that war had broken out again, the wounded would only continue to increase.
"Got it."
The medical-nin didn't refuse.
There were indeed many ninjas still waiting for his healing. They had already treated the more minor wounds, but there were injuries beyond their capability, they were waiting for Shiratori.
Though it was a heavy burden to place on a single child, they had no other choice. They would do their best to support him however they could.

[Energy transferred to Smallpox Deity]
[Development progress: 36%]
Shiratori flashed a dazzling smile at the grateful ninja in front of him:
"Great!"
He moved to another wounded ninja.
[Gratitude detected: Multiple sources]
[Points accumulating...]
[Smallpox Deity development accelerating]
The sound of accumulating gratitude points echoed continuously in his mind.
The Smallpox Deity's level was visibly rising at a rapid pace.
In just a few hours, its level had already surpassed that of Rika.
[Gratitude detected: Sakikawa +1000 points]
[Smallpox Deity development progress: 50%]
Once the Smallpox Deity passed the 50% threshold, the leveling slowed noticeably. As its growth became slower, new ideas began to take shape in his mind. So far, among his four cursed spirits, Choso and Sukuna remained at lower levels.
Increasing reminiscence points required specific people and scenarios, so there was no rushing that.
But the opportunity to increase killing intent points was right in front of him. Was there any place more suited for raising killing intent points than the battlefield?
While continuing to heal, he turned to glance at the two medical-nin beside him. The two medical-nin noticed his glance and asked, "Are you tired?"
Before he could respond, they immediately added, "If you're tired, take a break! Are you hungry? Want some food?"
Shiratori fell silent. Sneaking away to the battlefield without them noticing was going to be a bit of a challenge.
