Chapter 103: Naruto: I am Uchiha Fugaku [103]
Takasaki Clan, Clan Head's Residence
In the bedroom of the clan head's residence, Takasaki Kazushi and his wife, Takasaki Kanae, were having a conversation.
Neither of them had gone to sleep yet.
Kanae was notably tall, standing at 170 centimeters, clearly taller than the 160-centimeter Kazushi.
She was also quite beautiful and had once been pursued by many members of the clan.
Kazushi's position as clan head had been the main advantage that allowed him to marry her.
Kanae, seated at the bedside, looked toward Kazushi and asked:
"A few days ago, there was a conflict between the Uchiha and Shimura clans. Did you side with the Shimura clan again?"
Kazushi nodded and replied matter-of-factly:
"On one side is the Shimura clan, on the other the Uchiha. Naturally, I supported the Shimura clan."
Kanae frowned and said:
"Now that a Wood Release Kekkei Genkai user has clearly targeted the Shimura clan, I think our clan should keep a certain distance from them."
Kazushi shook his head.
"If we distance ourselves now, it'll be hard to repair the relationship in the future."
"Besides, the Wood Release ninja is focused on the Shimura clan itself and likely won't care about families that are merely affiliated with them."
Kanae reminded him:
"Didn't Aburame Shiwei, the head of the Aburame clan, also die at the hands of that Wood Release ninja?"
Kazushi shook his head with a smile.
"That was different. Shiwei just happened to be caught up in the village massacre by the Wood Release user. It was a coincidence, nothing more."
"Fine, but you should still be careful."
Kanae felt slightly more at ease.
Creak—
Footsteps approached. Then, the door—left slightly ajar—was pushed open, and someone entered the room.
Kazushi and Kanae instinctively grew alert, but when they saw who it was, they relaxed.
It was a young boy, around six years old—their son, Takasaki Tsugu.
Kanae smiled and asked:
"What is it? Do you want to sleep with Mom and Dad again tonight?"
"I…"
The boy spoke—but in the next instant, his eyes transformed into Mangekyō Sharingan, unleashing a True Illusion Technique.
Kazushi and Kanae, who were both looking directly at him and caught completely off guard, immediately fell into the genjutsu.
Shff—
Moments later, both Kazushi and Kanae silently died beneath Wood Release. The boy's form shifted—into Uchiha Obito.
Using the Mayfly Technique, he sank into the ground without alerting a single soul, quietly leaving the Takasaki clan head's residence.
"Only one left. But this last one… is going to be tricky."
Disguised as Obito, Uchiha Fugaku tunneled underground, thinking to himself.
Hoshino Atsumi and Takasaki Kazushi were now dead. Only Iwasaki Yū remained.
Once he was dealt with, the four clan heads most closely tied to the Shimura clan—including Aburame Shiwei—would all have been eliminated by Fugaku's hand.
However, unlike the others, Yū posed a greater challenge—not because he was stronger, but because he lived alone.
His wife had died years ago, and his only daughter had perished during a mission.
Because Yū was solitary, Fugaku couldn't get close to him through family. He couldn't launch a sneak attack while Yū was off guard.
"I'll have to disguise myself as a member of the Iwasaki clan."
Since he couldn't impersonate someone close to Yū, the only choice was to disguise himself as someone from the Iwasaki clan and approach under that pretense.
But that method clearly wouldn't be as effective as posing as a loved one.
Based on the intelligence gathered, Iwasaki Yū was known to be extremely cautious.
Even if the person was a fellow clansman, Yū would remain vigilant.
Under such conditions, a stealth assassination without alerting others would be much more difficult.
Iwasaki Clan, Clan Head's Residence
A man with a black mole on his left cheek approached in a hurry, looking somewhat anxious.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Before he could get too close, three figures shot out from the darkness and blocked his front and sides.
As the Iwasaki clan head, Yū's residence was naturally guarded day and night.
"Kōji, what are you doing here this late?"
Recognizing the newcomer and confirming he wasn't using a Transformation Technique, one of the three short in stature asked.
"I have an urgent report for the clan head."
The man identified as Iwasaki Kōji spoke with a hint of urgency in his voice and anxiety on his face.
"What is it? If it's not too important, I can pass it along to the clan head in the morning."
"Sorry, but this must be delivered in person."
Kōji declined the offer, apologizing sincerely.
"No worries. We understand the rules."
The short ninja didn't mind—some matters were simply too sensitive to share through intermediaries. That wasn't about trust; it was protocol.
"I'll inform the clan head."
The short ninja walked into the residence.
Moments later, he returned and said:
"The clan head is waiting for you in the study."
There was no need to lead the way. Kōji had been here before.
"Understood."
Kōji entered the residence and made his way to the study.
In reality, he was Uchiha Fugaku in disguise.
He had already infiltrated this place using the Mayfly Technique and had memorized the layout.
Thus, he moved with confidence, not betraying any unfamiliarity.
"Clan Head."
Arriving at the door to the study, he knocked and called out.
"Come in."
A voice responded from inside.
Fugaku—disguised as Kōji—opened the door and stepped into the room.
Inside, Iwasaki Yū sat dressed in a white kimono, gazing at him.
"What is it?"
After briefly assessing him from a distance and confirming he truly was Iwasaki Kōji—not someone else in disguise—Yū finally asked.
"Clan head, I just overheard something. The Uchiha are furious over recent events and are preparing to retaliate against the families allied with the Shimura clan—ours included."
Fugaku (as Kōji) reported.
"Where did you hear this?"
Yū frowned slightly and fell silent for a moment before asking.
"I overheard several Uchiha members talking. That's where the information came from."
Fugaku answered.
"Well done."
After a moment of contemplation, Yū looked up and said:
"This is valuable intelligence. The clan will reward you later. It's late—no need to stay."
"Understood."
Fugaku responded and turned to leave the residence.
He didn't act because with the help of the Yamanaka clan's sensing technique, he had discovered two identical chakra signatures for Iwasaki Yū in separate locations.
The most likely explanation was that Yū had used a Shadow Clone.
The person in the study wasn't the real Iwasaki Yū but a clone.
So Fugaku chose not to make a move.
