Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Cutting off Sasuke's arms.
Amid Kaito's rising fury, the battle in the Valley of the End had reached its climax.
At this point, Naruto was completely cloaked in the Nine-Tails' chakra, a single red tail swaying behind him.
His eyes had turned feral and vertical—he had entered a partial Tailed Beast Mode.
Across from him, Sasuke activated the second level of his cursed seal. A pair of bat-like wings sprouted from his back, his skin turned gray, and a black cross-mark appeared over his nose. His blood-red Sharingan stared unblinkingly at Naruto.
"Naruto... this fight ends now," Sasuke growled, the Curse Mark transforming his Chidori into a dark, sinister variation.
Naruto, wrapped in red chakra, held a Rasengan in his palm, the swirling orb crackling with power.
"I won't let Orochimaru take you!" Naruto roared as he launched forward, the Nine-Tails' power surging behind him.
Sasuke didn't hesitate. He took to the air with a gust from his wings and shot toward Naruto like a bolt of lightning.
"Chidori!"
"Rasengan!"
Their attacks collided in midair with a deafening boom.
The impact resembled a comet crashing into the earth. Shockwaves exploded outward from their clash, water rising from the lake beneath them and cascading down in waves. Under the sunlight, a rainbow briefly formed through the mist.
A red streak and a blue streak split the air, enveloping the entire Valley of the End. A dark energy barrier formed around them, crackling with intense purple lightning and distorting the space inside.
Brilliant flashes of red and blue tore through the sky and scorched the earth below.
Then—silence.
Snap!
Naruto fell unconscious, landing limply on the leg of the giant statue. Blood trickled down from his chest.
On the opposite side, Sasuke stood atop another statue, panting heavily.
It was his first time using the second level of the cursed seal, and the side effects were severe. His whole body trembled from the strain.
After catching his breath, Sasuke looked down at Naruto with conflicted eyes. Then, with grim determination, he turned his back on him and walked toward Orochimaru's future.
He had chosen power over everything else.
"Leaving so soon?" a calm voice called out behind him.
Sasuke froze.
He knew that voice.
Turning around slowly, he gritted his teeth. "Ayanami Kaito…"
Kaito stood a short distance away, a cold smile on his face. "Didn't expect me, did you?"
Without hesitation, he created a shadow clone to carry Naruto away, then turned back to Sasuke with a frosty gaze.
"You know, because of your betrayal, Neji, Lee, Shikamaru, Choji, and Kiba nearly died fighting the Sound Four. If I hadn't arrived in time…"
"So, are you here to drag me back to Konoha?" Sasuke asked, voice laced with contempt.
"Take you back?" Kaito sneered. "Why would I bring a traitor like you back to Konoha?"
He stepped forward slowly. "It's been a while since you graduated from the Academy. Let's see what you've gained in that time. Show me the power Orochimaru gave you."
Though his tone was calm, Kaito's gaze sharpened like a blade. A suffocating pressure surged from him, crashing down on Sasuke like a tidal wave.
Sasuke's expression darkened. Is this Kaito's strength? That pressure alone... it's suffocating...
He bit down, activating the cursed seal again. "Don't think I'm the same as I was before. You'll see what real power looks like!"
A twisted grin appeared on Sasuke's face.
"I'll let you witness firsthand the power I gained from Orochimaru!"
Black lightning swirled into a Chidori in his palm. He spread his wings and launched forward with a burst of wind.
"You're using lightning… against me?" Kaito said, unfazed. "You do realize you're trying to outmatch the master of thunder?"
He stood his ground, not even flinching.
"Your arrogance will be your downfall!" Sasuke snapped. Fueled by rage, he poured more chakra into his Chidori.
CRACK!
BOOM!
Sasuke's Chidori slammed into Kaito.
And stopped.
"What?!" Sasuke's eyes widened in disbelief.
Kaito had caught the Chidori—barehanded.
Not a scratch marred his palm.
"You… you're supposed to be injured!" Sasuke shouted, unable to accept what he saw. "This move… I used it to defeat Naruto!"
Kaito's gaze remained cold.
"That's all?" he asked, tone icy. "Then allow me to show you the price of betrayal."
His grip on Sasuke's arm tightened. In one swift motion, he yanked Sasuke forward and drove his knee into his stomach.
THUD!
Blood sprayed from Sasuke's mouth.
He collapsed to one knee, clutching his gut, reeling from the blow.
BAM!
Kaito's foot connected with his face, launching him into the air.
Sasuke crashed into the side of the stone statue, breaking through the rock and splashing into the river below.
"Agh!" he coughed, spitting blood. His Sharingan trembled in fear.
"You…" he rasped.
"What about me?" Kaito said flatly. "Because of your selfishness, the younger generation of Konoha almost died. I don't care if you leave the village… but I can't let you take our techniques with you."
"Seal them?" Sasuke coughed, still clinging to his pride. "Those techniques are worthless?"
"No, they're not," Kaito said calmly. "Which is why I'll make sure you can never use them again."
Sasuke's eyes widened.
"You don't mean—"
"Cutting off your hands is the simplest method," Kaito said without emotion.
A crimson thunder blade formed in his palm, humming with lethal energy.
"Don't worry. Once you reach Orochimaru, I'm sure he'll give you new ones. These… will be the price you pay for turning your back on Konoha."
His voice was as cold as death itself.
Sasuke's heart raced. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"You're joking…"
Suddenly, a raspy voice rang out behind Kaito.
"Kaito-san, that won't be necessary."
