Naruto: Deidara’s Struggle

Chapter 40: 《Naruto: Deidara's Struggle》Chapter 40: Haku

"What a poor country this is."

"I heard a wealthy magnate named Gato rules here. Why don't we take his ill-gotten gains back to the organization? We still have four days, and we're idle anyway," Deidara suggested.

"It's not that simple, Deidara," Sasori said, glancing up at him. "These wealthy magnates are different from the usual rogue ninja or wandering ninja organizations."

"They have intricate ties with political figures, nobles, and even daimyos from various countries. If you kill him, his assets will just end up benefiting his collaborators."

"If you try to disrupt that, you'll face their collective hostility. Their vast network and abundant resources can pose a threat no less than the pursuit orders from the Five Great Shinobi Villages."

I see!

Deidara recalled that in the ninja world, daimyos and nobles still held significant power. Even the appointment of the Kage of the Five Great Shinobi Villages had to be reported to them. While such reports were merely a formality, they still reflected the high status of the daimyos.

After spending another day crafting clay bombs, Deidara felt adequately prepared and decided to stroll around the town.

There wasn't much to see. The entire town offered little more than some agricultural products and simple food. As for jewelry, trinkets, or entertainment, those were out of the question. In such a poverty-stricken place, anything beyond basic sustenance was a luxury.

Feeling bored, Deidara wandered outside the town, aimlessly walking.

Hmm?

He suddenly heard the sound of senbon piercing wood. Following the sound, he discovered a long-haired beauty, slightly younger than himself, practicing her senbon throwing technique in a grassy area.

Isn't that Haku?

Deidara watched for a while, suddenly realizing how strikingly beautiful the person was. Could he really be a man?

"Who's there?" Sensing Deidara's gaze, Haku turned to look in his direction. Though questioning, her voice was gentle.

"Sorry!"

"Did I disturb you?" Realizing he'd been spotted, Deidara stepped out from behind the tree, his eyes fixated on Haku's neck, trying to see if there was an Adam's apple.

Perhaps feeling the intensity of his gaze, Haku instinctively shrank back, but her high-collared clothing obscured Deidara's view.

"Who are you?" Haku asked, her stance indicating a hint of wariness.

After all, Deidara's conspicuous black cloak with red clouds clearly marked him as part of some rogue ninja organization, naturally arousing suspicion.

"My name is Deidara."

Deidara spread his hands to show he meant no harm. "I was just passing by and heard the sound of your senbon practice, so I came over out of curiosity."

Whether it was because Haku was naive or because Deidara had a certain charm, Haku lowered her guard after he spoke, smiling shyly with a gentle warmth.

"Thank you for watching. I have someone I must protect, so I need to become stronger quickly."

"Hey? Why are you looking at me like that?" Haku asked curiously.

Deidara rubbed his chin and posed the epic question, "I want to know if you're a boy or a girl."

"Ah?" Haku gasped, covering her mouth in surprise, clearly caught off guard by Deidara's sudden question.

"Who asks something like that right away?" Haku blushed shyly, her demeanor so bashful it was almost irresistible.

But Deidara was more interested in solving this epic question.

"So, I'm really curious. Can you tell me?" Seeing Deidara's serious expression, Haku felt a bit awkward and squeezed her legs together, perhaps realizing that this strange person wouldn't relent without an answer.

"I am..."

"Haku!" A male voice called out from the side. Emerging from the forest was a shirtless man with a large sword strapped to his back, his mouth wrapped in white bandages.

Zabuza Momochi, one of the original Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, and the second wielder of the Executioner's Blade. He had defected with the blade due to his hatred for the Bloody Mist, failing in his attempt to assassinate the source of it all—the Fourth Mizukage. Outwardly ruthless, he still harbored a soft spot within.

"Who are you?!" Zabuza gripped the Executioner's Blade, eyeing Deidara warily.

Known as the Demon, Zabuza wasn't naive. If the other party showed any signs of hostility, he wouldn't hesitate to strike.

Deidara looked displeased at Zabuza, who had interrupted the answer to his epic question. Did Zabuza realize the gravity of his crime?

"Kid, if you don't answer, don't blame me for cutting you in half with my Executioner's Blade," Zabuza threatened, his temper foul.

Oh well, Zabuza did have some skill. Perhaps recruiting him into Akatsuki would be wise. This way, Haku would join too, making it easier to solve the epic question later.

"Demon Zabuza, I've heard of your name. Now, I offer you a chance to join our organization," Deidara proposed.

"Ha! Kid!"

"Do you know what you're saying?" Zabuza scoffed, dismissing Deidara entirely. After all, Deidara was only thirteen years old.

Would you agree if a thirteen-year-old invited you to join an organization?

"No choice, looks like I'll have to beat you up first," Deidara said, reaching into his clay pouch and starting to chew.

"Arrogant brat!" Zabuza didn't believe him at all and charged with the Executioner's Blade.

Perhaps when he first arrived in this world, Deidara would have been cautious against an opponent like Zabuza. But now, against elite Jonin-level opponents, unless they could counter him or catch him off guard, he could handle them easily.

"C2 Standard Type: Velociraptor!" A group of human-sized clay velociraptors appeared before Zabuza, charging at him menacingly.

"Zabuza Shock Value +500"

What are these things?

Zabuza frowned, testing with a slash that cut one of the white creatures in half.

Such low defense? Could it be capable of some secret technique?

Zabuza focused on the unusual movements of the clay velociraptors, noting that these white creatures only used physical attacks.

Zabuza laughed, "Kid, you think you can defeat me with these?"

Deidara also laughed. He had just been toying with Zabuza. Now, it was time to show him the true face of his art.

"Ha!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

"Zabuza Shock Value +500"

The surviving clay velociraptors exploded one after another, forcing Zabuza to retreat from the smoke, his eyes now wary as he looked at Deidara.

"So, how about it? My art is explosive!"
