Chapter 11: [CHAPTER 11] The Joys of Graduation
Sasuke stood up, about to begin his introduction, but Kakashi stopped him. "Wait!" He looked at Sakura, who was on the verge of crying, and Naruto, who was glaring at him.
Kakashi asked, "Why are you glaring at me? Do you have any problem with what I said to her?"
Naruto yelled, "Yeah! How can you say such harsh words? She can be a good ninja, and you are the one who made her cry!"
Sasuke, however, ignored them. For him, these two were just headaches, especially Sakura.
Kakashi replied, "Did I say anything wrong? She herself only dreams about this kid and nothing about being a ninja. These kinds of ninja usually die on their first official ninja missions, after being a burden on their teams!"
Naruto and Sakura flinched upon hearing the words 'die on their first official ninja missions.' Naruto grew worried about Sakura, and Sakura also became a little scared.
Kakashi then said, "Being a shinobi isn't your child's play. You can be killed at any time unless you are strong and Sakura, your mindset and dreams can get you killed if you take this ninja profession lightly. Well, now continue your introduction, kid."
Sasuke then began to speak. "My name is Sasuke Uchiha, and there are a lot of things that I dislike, and I don't like anything particularly. As for my dream, I can't exactly call it a dream, but I have an ambition to restore my clan, and..."
He paused slightly before continuing, "I want to kill a certain someone."
The room went silent for a few moments. Kakashi nodded, confirming it was the same as before.
Sakura, who had been on the verge of crying, looked at Sasuke with admiration, thinking he was cool. But then Kakashi's words echoed in her mind, and she shook her head, scratching her hair, confused about what she should do.
Naruto, however, was looking at Sasuke warily and thought, 'H-he isn't talking about me, right?'
Kakashi then clapped his hands, and said, "Very well, introductions are over. Let's call it a day, but before that..."
Kakashi glanced at all three Genin and added, "You three are still not official ninja, you still have to pass my test tomorrow. If you don't, you will be sent back to the academy for re-studies."
The Genin's jaws dropped at Kakashi's announcement. Naruto was especially stunned. "Wait, no!"
He asked, "But we worked so hard! Then what's the point of graduating?"
Kakashi replied, "You are a Genin at the academy level, but this level of strength isn't enough. If you fail tomorrow's test, that means you all aren't ready for official ninja tasks."
Sakura stammered, "B-but w-we..."
Kakashi cut her off and spoke, "If I send you on any real missions now, you can become the reason for your and your teammate's deaths."
All three Genin fell completely silent, and Kakashi was pleased, finding that everything was going well. He then explained tomorrow's test.
"You all will have to show your skills, so bring all your ninja tools, get properly prepared, eat your breakfast. I want all of you in tip-top condition. The location is Training Ground 3, don't be late."
With that, he flickered away, telling them to go prepare for the test. Naruto sat on his seat in Sasuke's brooding posture, sweat flowing down his forehead.
He thought, 'I can't fail here. I will show Kakashi-sensei my strength, but... but can I?'
Sakura's state of mind was also a mess. She couldn't just end her crush on Sasuke due to a few words from Kakashi, but what Kakashi said was still playing in her mind.
She thought, 'N-no, I will be a good ninja! I am not going to be a burden on Sasuke-kun, a-and definitely not going to be the reason for his d-death, ever.'
Sasuke then stood up and said, "Hey, you two, I don't want you to let me down, so try not to get in my way tommorow."
Naruto yelled at him, "HUH?! What did you say? Who's getting in whose way?"
Sakura stated, her voice low, "S-stop, you two. We shouldn't fight but think about how to pass tomorrow's test."
Sasuke scoffed. "I don't need you two. I can pass the test by myself. Just don't get in my way." Saying that, he also left the class, leaving only Naruto and Sakura.

Meanwhile, Kakashi sat in a secluded spot, thinking about what to do. He had enjoyed the last week, doing absolutely nothing except tasting food and familiarizing himself with others.
At first, they all felt like just anime characters, but little by little, they all felt human and real to him and they indeed are. It was just that this whole situation was too unbelievable for him.
But now his mind was fully focused understand that he wasn't in some anime, but in a real world. The word 'protagonist' no longer existed here, and if he died this time, he would be permanently gone.
Though he knew he would die eventually, he didn't want to die young and early this time, especially remembering the Akatsuki and Pain's attack that killed Kakashi in the anime—a fate he didn't want.
He mused, 'Now even the plot can be said to officially begin, and I should also train myself in something. Chakra alone can't help me either, unless my skills are top-tier, though they are. But there are many formidable monsters out there. Huu, but what should I train in, mostly now?'
