Chapter 36: giel and kad
His wolves were back.
They were carrying Giel.
Mike shouted, "Gieeellll!"
But he couldn't move. He just looked at Giel—and saw that he really had lost an arm.
"Hey Bite, can you get me my phone?"
Bite grabbed Mike's phone from the table on the other side of the room, holding it carefully in his mouth and bringing it to Mike.
Mike petted Bite as best as he could and said,
"Bite, Pack, and Strike—once I can move again, I'm going to give you all a proper petting."
The wolves spun in circles like they were excited.
Mike called Lasa.
"Hello?" Lasa said through the phone.
"Lasa," Mike said, "we found Giel."
She immediately rushed to the Sal Hospital.
Mike also called the Sal doctors.
The doctors confirmed that Giel was alive.
After a few hours, Lasa said,
"Mike, I'm going to see Giel now, okay?"
Mike replied,
"Okay—and help him with his arm, alright?"
So Lasa went to Giel's room. He was lying there.
She said softly,
"Hey Gieeell… now you're lying there so quietly, that's not like you at all."
She wiped a tear from her face, then sat down on a chair next to Giel.
She raised her hands and said loudly,
"Giel! I'm going to get your ARM BACK NOW!"
It was exhausting.
She was used to healing broken bones—but an entire limb?
She screamed in the middle of the night.
Some doctors came because of the shouting, but they just stood and watched. They said nothing.
Amazingly—Giel's arm was healed.
Lasa collapsed from the chair, but was caught by a doctor.
She wasn't injured—just exhausted.
The doctor said,
"Hey little one… you've really got talent."
She whispered,
"Thank you…"
The doctor added,
"But now you need rest. Should someone drive you home?"
She answered,
"No… I want to go to Room 11."
That's where Mike was staying.
They went there and explained everything.
The next morning, a doctor woke Mike and Lasa.
"Hey kids, your friend is awake."
Mike shot up.
"GIELL?!"
"No—Kad," said the doctor.
Lasa said,
"Yaaay, still good!"
Mike added,
"Yeah… and next, Giel will wake up too."
"Alright, are you coming?" asked the doctor.
Lasa replied,
"Yes, I'll go. But Mike can't."
Mike said,
"No, I really can't. But Lasa—please say hi to him for me."
In Kad's room:
"Heeeyyy, Kad!"
Kad answered happily,
"LASAAA!"
What happened?" Kad asked.
"I'm not really sure myself," Lasa replied.
Then the two of them kept talking for a bit.
Lasa told Kad everything she knew up to that point.
Kad became worried about Giel.
"But… is Mike doing okay?" Kad asked.
"Yes, Mike is fine," Lasa answered.
He really defeated him—the SSS-rank.
Mike had become so strong.
"He's probably SSS-rank himself now, right?" said Lasa.
Kad nodded.
"Yeah… could be."
Kad and Lasa continued their conversation.
Kad said, "We're doing everything except training!"
He laughed.
Then Lasa laughed too.
"You're right about that."
"We've basically already been trained," she added,
"because of everything we've been through."
Then, in Mike's room
Mike was deep in thought, just staring at the wall.
Strike, Bite, and Pack were sitting in the corner of the room, playing.
Mike was thinking:
"I wonder what level the system goes up to…"
"And should I finally tell my friends about Fireborn?"
He made a decision.
He turned to his wolves and said:
"Hey guys, I'm finally going to tell my friends about Fireborn."
Should I tell them about the Five—
Suddenly, Mike was paralyzed.
Then he heard a voice.
It was The Wolf.
One of the Five.
He spoke majestically,
his voice echoing:
"Player Wol—Wolf—Wolfffffff——"
"You must not, under any circumstances, speak of the Five."
"Okay, you can tell them about Fireborn. But the Five—and the fact that he is a Player—must remain a secret."
"If you do speak of it, you will be punished. Understood?"
Mike nodded, "Okay."
Suddenly, he woke up.
No time had passed.
He was about to call Lasa—
Then the doctor entered his room.
"Mike, good news—your friend Giel has woken up!"
