My Wife Turns Out to be an Empress of the Dynasty

Chapter 867: The Battle for Dominance

A faint layer of true energy appeared around Qing'er's body. She took a step forward and arrived before Chaos.

Chaos's face twisted in a grimace, and with a blood-curdling roar, he released a cloud of murky energy. The power was terrifying, but it couldn't even come close to Qing'er.

With a resounding boom, the space around them was torn apart in that instant. Seeing such terrifying power, Gu Lan couldn't help but frown.

Without hesitation, Gu Lan quickly gathered his own energy to suppress the force. Despite his efforts, he was still forced back several hundred steps.

Steadying himself, Gu Lan's expression darkened. He was standing a hundred feet away, and even then, he could already feel the effects of the power. He couldn't even imagine what would happen if he fought Chaos directly—he might not survive.

As his expression grew gloomier, the voice of Blood Demon suddenly rang out.

"Stop dreaming. You can't escape me!"

At the sound of these words, the shock on Gu Lan's face was quickly suppressed. His eyes flashed with coldness, and his entire being was filled with killing intent.

"Shut up. Dealing with you is a matter of time."

Gu Lan didn't want to waste any more time on Blood Demon, and he had no interest in engaging with him further.

The murky energy in the air began to dissipate, and Qing'er stood tall in the sky. Her white dress was untouched by the chaos around her.

Gu Lan was taken aback when he saw this. Under his watchful gaze, Qing'er swung her palm downward and directly pressed Chaos into a formation.

A thunderous roar erupted, and a powerful aura returned.

Gu Lan's eyes were filled with astonishment as he momentarily lost the ability to speak. He had to admit that Qing'er's strength was indeed formidable.

...

After several hundred exchanges, the aura around Chaos had nearly dissipated. While Qing'er's power had also been somewhat exhausted, it didn't affect her much.

"Roar…"

Chaos let out a furious howl, but Qing'er descended from the void and, with a resounding explosion, scattered Chaos's remaining energy.

"It's over!"

Qing'er's voice reached Gu Lan's ears, and Gu Lan quickly rushed over to her. Upon seeing Chaos in a weakened state, he frowned, his eyes full of deep wariness.

He felt fortunate that he hadn't fought Qing'er directly. If he had, he definitely wouldn't have been able to withstand her power. It was far stronger than he had anticipated, far beyond what he could resist.

"Didn't you come for the Mind-Clearing Spring? Stop waiting here. The spring is in the center."

At her words, Gu Lan's expression softened slightly. He didn't hesitate and respectfully bowed deeply.

"Thank you, miss."

With that, Gu Lan walked forward on his own.

Soon, he arrived at the center of the formation, where there were hundreds of iron chains surrounding a clear spring.

The aura emanating from the spring was rich and pure. What surprised Gu Lan the most was that the spring hadn't been affected by the surrounding forces.

At that moment, Qing'er also walked up beside him.

She looked at the Mind-Clearing Spring, and a trace of sadness appeared in her eyes.

"I haven't been here in a long time."

Qing'er suddenly spoke, and Gu Lan was puzzled.

"Miss, you've been here before?"

At her question, Qing'er nodded faintly.

"It was a long time ago. I don't remember much."

Qing'er didn't continue her sentence, but Gu Lan could tell. However, he didn't press for more answers, as there were things beyond his control.

He had something to say but swallowed his words. After a moment of consideration, he moved forward with a solemn expression.

In the world of consciousness, Blood Demon had noticed the situation outside. Watching the forces before him, Blood Demon's expression darkened as he frowned.

He had never expected this day to come so soon, and certainly not in this way.

As Gu Lan was about to step forward, Blood Demon summoned all his strength to manipulate his blood energy.

Gu Lan's foot froze in midair, refusing to touch the ground.

This sudden move by Blood Demon caught Gu Lan off guard. His face darkened, and an unrelenting killing intent filled his eyes.

With a powerful push, the ground below him shook, rocks flew, and a deep pit appeared. But the closer he got, the harder it became.

He knew very well that Blood Demon was trying to stop him, but now that he had come this far, how could he give up so easily?

"Stop dreaming. Today, I'll eliminate you."

Gu Lan spoke coldly, unleashing all his energy once again.

Though Blood Demon used all his power, he was still not enough to stop Gu Lan.

Soon, Gu Lan entered the Mind-Clearing Spring.

Once inside, the incredibly pure true energy surged into his body. Though the energy was incredibly powerful, Gu Lan felt no ill effects.

As the energy continued to pour into him, a smile spread across his face.

Gradually, the world before Gu Lan's eyes went black.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in the world of consciousness.

The blood energy was faint, but there was still a trace left. His cold eyes locked onto Blood Demon.

"You and I should settle this once and for all."

With his cold words, Blood Demon sneered.

"I've been waiting for you. Your true energy is impressive, but I can use it too."

Blood Demon's face twisted in a grimace as he swung his hand, summoning thousands of blood-red sword shadows above Gu Lan's head.

Gu Lan was not one to back down. His true energy flashed, and countless sword lights appeared.

They were one and the same, using nearly identical powers. Now, it was a battle of endurance. Whoever could hold out the longest would win the body.

The two of them quickly engaged in fierce combat. Though Blood Demon's power was affected, it didn't take long for him to regain his balance and reach a stalemate with Gu Lan.

The true energy was indeed formidable, helping Gu Lan grow stronger while also enhancing his own abilities.

Thus, he wasn't as affected as one might expect.

...

After several hundred exchanges, the power of both Gu Lan and Blood Demon only grew stronger.

"Boom!"

With a loud crash, Gu Lan was sent flying back a hundred feet, and Blood Demon was sent back as well.

Both regained their balance, and their cold gazes met.

Although neither of them had made a move yet, the killing intent in their eyes was palpable.

Seeing the expression on Gu Lan's face, Blood Demon sneered coldly.

"Don't waste your time. We are one and the same. How could there be a winner between us?"

His words were intended to make Gu Lan give up, but Gu Lan was resolute.

"True, we are one, but you will ultimately disappear."

In the world of consciousness, only one would survive today.

Gu Lan didn't want it to be him, and Blood Demon certainly didn't want it to be him either.

Having done so much, Blood Demon didn't want to vanish now.

"Don't be foolish. Don't blame me when it's you who disappears today!"

Blood Demon's face darkened, and he gathered true energy into a sharp sword in his hand.

Gu Lan didn't care. His eyes were filled with murderous intent, and what Blood Demon could do, so could he.

"Come!"
