My Sudden Monster Convergence

A Small Idea with My Monsters

Did that really happen already? One Hundred chapters?! Feels like it was only last week I was around sixty eight or nine? I kinda thought I'd never reach that big three digit number. But honestly I was keeping track but sorta forgot. had a long week and the brain sorta just dropped the ball.

So I'm here to make up for that! In what way but with some drawn up size charts and a look at some different monsters in this story. I also go into the reason why some of these are the way they are and some of my thoughts on them. though forgive the crude art, I really wanted to get something a little extra out to everyone and I thought this was the best way to do so.

I've been made aware of a small (annoying) blunder and counted the bottom line in the measurements so everything’s off by a foot. Please forgive my haste.

This Chart shows from left to right; human at 5'3, lamia (casual standing height) at 5'10, minotaur at 8'2, crystalline librarian floating at 4'11, bone devil at 7'5. Oh yeah, and those two are a fairy and a slime showing off its authority.

Although simplistic it shows off the rough idea and body plan these monsters have. as you can see, this isn't a length chart otherwise the lamia would've out passed everyone here. Speaking of, yes, they wear skirts, aprons, dresses and extra baggy big shirts to keep their modesty. they use their long bodies as personal couches which means if ya end up dating one well.....movie night might be extra enjoyable.

The minotaur here shows how bulky they can get and how they can easily build muscle mass. It also shows that they have a more humanoid body, that's because I'm going more for a classical look. Body of a man, head of a bull, teeth of a lion. yes they have tails, no red doesn't piss them off. The bone devil might seem to be coming from no where but they pop up in the library and is what the detective, the centaur reporter interviews. they are really skinny with large fore arms and legs and have bone white skin. these monsters are really intelligent and might seem scary at night they won't steal your bones to eat. that's just an old folk story and also where using bone for soup comes from. the crystalline librarian are those strange floating women that manage the library and seem hyper focus on disciplining people. They always hold a smile a friendly and protect the library's honor, glory and cobwebs.

From left to right is; native arachne (resting height) at 3'11, large arachne (walking height) at 5'4, Harpy at 4'3, faun at 4'9.

Here you can see the size difference between arachne, the native being more like the large jumping spiders you might see dancing or acting like a curious cat. the larger arachne follow a tarantula more and come from the south where it's warmer with lots of plains to run across. The harpy from the side view is feathered around the shoulders, back and thighs. And just like the Minotaur, they follow the paintings of harpies. The ones with the boobs and the ones that call them sirens. The faun is generally leaner like a normal deer is though you can consider their male counterpart, the satyr to be a little taller. Faun's have the lower half of a deer and because they have fur they don't really wear pants. But they also have the digitigrade legs, some might say the better leg shape,

From left to right; (young) Kraken at 6'6 (when sitting), Sentinel Oni at 9'7, Flower Mantis at 5'8, Goblin at 3'4, gremlin a 3.

The young kraken here is resting but as you may be able to tell, it can actually stand a good 2 feet extra. Also yes! young! they get a lot bigger, so giant woman/man! as you can see their body is larger than a human and could probably handle most races around 5ft like children. The Oni here is at the tallest height a sentinel can get to if they have the right growth sport. But they show the opposite of the Minotaur's mass, density. Though the Oni looks thinner, they weight easily matches the minotaur if not passes it but because of that, all sentinels share the same rectangular body plan. the flower mantis might honestly need a rework but the basic idea is. a four armed torso, upper arms baring toothed sickles, lower arms with hands and feet more like pointed shoes. kinda drew it like some weird mutant so I apologize for that. The goblin like the gremlin next to it has large pointed ears is around the shorter side when it comes to their race. though it shows that they have muscle, most goblins just look like what an average height human does, if they were hit with a shrink ray. The same can be said for the gremlin, only if you use a skinner and lengthier person. they're size allows them to easily get into rather cramped spaces. and yes, it does have a mohawk, it wants to look like it's movie hero that outlasted everyone else.

This page shows the different demon horns. the top belongs to the demons with comic book super hero bodies. the spiked ram horns allowed them to decorate them with the bodies of their enemies and to use them as padding when they rammed another opponent. the one with the black tipped horns is the Oni. it shows where it sits on the forehead and a side view of what angle the horn points at. and to do a little extra, the front view shows a three horned Oni, the extra two horns jut out and appear like the edge of a sword. below that is the succubus with horns that point straight upward. while looking ridged, these horns are actually smooth like an airplane's steering handles and sit at the right distance apart. The reason is simple, it allows dominant partners to control them better.

The four horned one bellow is the bone devil. this crown of blade like horns act to give it the appearance that it is taller and like certain boxcutters they can snap off at the ridges should they be grabbed or get them stuck on something. below them is the incubus. two horns and a smaller one in the middle that sorta looks like a gem from the front. their horns grew that way to allow for easy access to their hair, letting them easily style it and increase their attractive appearance. the one with the longer horns with a fuzzy ball on top belong to an insectoid demon and mimic the antennae of insect monsters. the fuzzy ball is actually a sensory organ that grows around the horns.

Here is the general idea for an arachne. A fuzzy spider body for temperature regulation. It also shows they have hoof shaped paws with the underside having malleable pads that allow them to stick to any surface. the paws also have a pair of claws that clamp together to grip or pick up things. The front arms act more like protection as they cross over the more private area of an arachne but they can also grab hold to anyone nearby. the arm shows the segmentation of their exoskeleton that arachne and any insect monster has but isn't as noticeable as it's always the same color. if anything, it would look like they drew lines on their body with a pen. For arachne, the human part, feels like normal human skin, down to the squishiness. Also yes, they have breasts but I can't add that here.

This one shows a Harpy body to some extent. the wings bare a single thumb like claw that they use to clean and oil their feathers. The ball shows how fluffy a harpy can get when surprised or cold. I think some people would probably love to have hug from one on a cold night. the claws/ talons have two forward pointing toes with two thumb like toes at the back. I made them after how an owl and certain raptors' talons look like a four pointed star. also they have a rough bumpy surface on the bottom for better gripping. the last pic show how their clothes fit around their wings like a life vest. They use buckles, knots and clamps to hold their clothes together while in flight. Also many wear skirts, aprons and kilts, because of this they don't have too much of a difference in gendered clothing between men and women.
