Chapter 272: House of Demi God!?
The more his fist advanced, the greater the pressure became. Zarek's expression twisted into something ferocious as he summoned every ounce of strength he could possibly muster.
"Even if the world works against me, I'll just adapt to it!" he roared.
Eden, of course, wasn't weak either. Reacting swiftly, a pair of double-edged knives materialized in his hands. With one smooth motion, he slashed at Zarek, who stood directly in front of him.
Bound by that invisible force, Zarek was completely vulnerable. The blades struck him squarely.
He involuntarily gritted his teeth. His vision blurred in an instant, and his pulse weakened. Zarek carefully focused on the change within his body and muttered in his mind, Poison.
That's right, poison was circulating through his body, and Zarek could barely move. His bodily functions were shutting down at an alarming rate.
Even so, he didn't activate the Time Revert to restore his body. He was adapting to it.
But the poison was far more potent than he had expected and the pain, even worse.
Bloody red veins bulged across his golden skin as Zarek opened his mouth and roared in agony.
His eyes grew cloudy by the second, darkness creeping in. He was on the verge of collapsing, until his vision snapped back into focus.
"H-how…?" the man stammered, his voice trembling with disbelief just as he raised his twin blades for another strike.
Zarek was about to retaliate, even under the pressure. By now, it had lessened significantly, and he was close to fully adapting to it. Just then, the man in front of him froze on the spot.
"Hm?" Zarek raised his brows in surprise. He paused, forcing his neck to move around, scanning the area, but aside from the two Telekinetic Paragons, there wasn't a single soul in sight. That only deepened his confusion.
"Eden, I said stop." A cold voice rang out.
For a moment, both Zarek and Eden were frozen in place. Aiken, on the other hand, wore a bitter expression as he hurriedly brought his hands together and bowed, "I am sorry, milady, if I have caused you any harm."
"Hmm."
The cold tone rang out again as shimmering golden strands began to gather. Zarek internally screamed, Divine Energy!
That's right, it was all Divine Energy, and it was extremely pure. Far purer than Mirabella's. Several times purer, in fact.
Zarek's own Divine Energy reserves were immense in quantity, but the majority of it was low-level Divine Energy. Only a small portion could be classified as mid-level.
He also carried the Divine Energy of the chained woman within his consciousness, which gave him a substantial amount of mid-level Divine Energy as well. Even Mirabella had only used mid-level Divine Energy.
But this…
This Divine Energy was on an entirely different level, so pure and dense that it left Zarek completely stunned.
A high-level Divine Energy?
Right before Zarek's stunned eyes, he watched as all the golden strands gathered into a glowing sphere and from within it, a small woman materialized.
She wore a high-collared white coat, her expression cold and unreadable. Shimmering green-blue pupils, remarkably similar to his own, locked onto him with quiet intensity.
"Who's this little kid?" Zarek asked, a confused frown on his face.
"You—" Eden's eyes flared with fury, his gaze locking onto Zarek like a blade ready to strike.
"Calm down, Eden," the little girl said, her tone even colder than before. "I am a representative from the Council… or as you might know us as the House of Demi-gods."
"House of Demi-gods!?" Zarek was stunned. He stood frozen, his thoughts in disarray. 'What in the world…?' From the moment he'd arrived in this world, he had never heard of anything like that.
He was utterly gasted in his flabber.
"Yes, the house of Demi-gods," she replied and took a pause before adding, "You can call me Zytharia, the Demi-God of Celestial Beasts."
"Woah, I see," Zarek said and gave her a thumbs up and added, "Quite the manly name."
"Hmph." Zytharia simply scoffed, completely unfazed by it, and then looked at Eden. "I thought my orders were clear."
"I am sorry, Your Highness, but I wasn't able to do anything…" Eden replied with a pale expression.
"It's my fault, Your Highness," Aiken replied from the side. He kneeled in the air, as if it was the ground itself, then he banged his head continuously.
"Your arrogance knows no bounds," Zytharia narrowed her eyes. "Everyone is a human, but you still dare to have pride just because you are a Telekinetic Paragon?"
Feeling the gaze of Zytharia, both Aiken and Eden were extremely pale, their bodies trembled involuntarily, and they could barely contain their bodies' reaction.
Aiken spoke tremblingly, "Please forgive me."
"You have let go of the duties that the human race has towards each other. If it was my big sister, she would have slaughtered you, but I am more merciful and will only take one of your limbs," Zytharia spoke in a generous tone, as if she was displaying mercy upon these two Telekinetic Paragons.
Aiken and Eden were both terrified. Cold sweat poured down their backs, soaking through their robes and clinging to their skin.
Silence.
A looming tension rippled through the air, a storm before the silence.
"Tell me," Zytharia's voice rang out, chillingly calm, "which part do you want mutilated?"
Despite her small stature, the horror Eden and Aiken felt was unimaginable. Their faces turned pale, white as paper.
In a blink, Zytharia moved. Her figure blurred like a phantom, and before anyone could react, she was already in front of Eden, standing right beside Zarek.
"I… I…"
"Too late," she said coldly. "Both of your hands are gone."
Her hand flashed.
In the next moment, Eden's arms were gone, severed cleanly from his shoulders.
"Ahhh–!" Eden's muffled scream echoed through the surroundings.
Zytharia turned towards Aiken with a chilling smile on her face.
"Tell me, what do you choose?"
"I choose my left hand," Aiken hurriedly said without hesitation. Why would he hesitate after seeing the state of Eden?
Zytharia's figure literally vanished from Zarek's eyes, and the next moment, Aiken's right limb was in her hand, and she was casually playing with it.
Aiken grunted but took it like a champ, unlike Eden.
Zarek looked at this with a strange expression, a Telekinetic Paragon that he should be afraid of, and power that literally killed him almost twice, their arms were severed so easily by her.
There was not even a chance for them to resist.
This woman, Zytharia, was really, really strong!
Definitely much, much stronger than Mirabella—there was no doubt about that.
But Zarek was more curious about the house of Demi-gods. Were they all literally made up of Demi-gods?
While the question made him even more curious, Zarek focused again.
"Human, I have taken revenge for you. Now tell me what happened…" Zytharia looked in the direction that Zarek came from. "Did our priestess of our human race die? Or…" she didn't continue, her blue pupils staring straight at him.
Zarek's pupils flickered for a moment before he promptly bowed and replied with all honesty, "Mirabella has betrayed the human race and defected to the Mythos Race. Not only that, she seemed to have become a Demi-god."
"Demi-god!?" Zytharia was completely expressionless, making her thoughts on this matter completely uncertain.
The two Paragons were even more in panic because of this.
A Demi-god represented an unimaginably powerful force. If any other races besides dragons and humans possessed such power, it would spell catastrophic disaster for humanity.
This reality sent the two into full-blown panic.
After all, every other race stood against humans and dragons. They were either enslaved by them or teetering on the edge of extinction.
The hatred and grudges these races held toward humans and dragons were immeasurable, they would stop at nothing to overthrow their reign.
So imagine the impact of having a Demi-god on their side.
From that moment on, even a Telekinetic Paragon wouldn't be safe, nor a Rank Eight dragon.
This news shook them to their core. The magnitude of the situation was that serious.
Zytharia knew exactly what was going on. She touched her chin thoughtfully, lost in contemplation.
After a moment, she sighed quietly and quickly shook her head. Then, her eyes fixed on Zarek as she spoke with curious intrigue:
"How are you so strong?"
"Like this." Zarek grinned, slowly flexing his muscles as he casually broke free from the pressure. The world was trying to suppress him but he had successfully adapted.
Zytharia's eyes went wide. She was utterly stunned on the spot, "How… How were you able to break free from my World Pressure?"
"World Pressure?" Zarek uttered with a shake of his head while looking at the blue panel in front of him with a grin on his face.
Even without her speaking, he already knew what he had gained.
'Finally,' he grinned.
