Chapter 261: Pure Human Bloodline!?
"What should I do?"
Mirabella's voice echoed softly through the hidden chamber, yet not a single soul was in sight, leaving one to wonder where the sound came from.
Then, a glimmering sparkle of golden light appeared, hovering in the void before swiftly moving to the center of the chamber.
The voice came from the shimmering glow, it was Mirabella herself.
"I haven't progressed far enough through the Divine Energy to abandon my physical body," she murmured, her tone edged with frustration. "And that bastard… his strength has become overwhelming. His entire being seems to pull at my own Divine Energy. If I fought him like this, bound by my limitations, I would definitely lose."
In the end, Mirabella could only sigh, part pity, part disappointment.
It wasn't Zarek's sheer strength that terrified her, but something far more insidious. His body was like a black hole for divine energy, constantly pulling in and devouring even her own.
"I wanted to create a shell, a body that would completely encase me, so that no divine energy could escape my flesh. But who would have thought that Zarek, that bastard, would block me and prevent me from doing so?"
She longed to grind her teeth in hatred, but then she realized, she didn't even have a physical body anymore.
"For me to ascend to godhood, I need to merge my Divine Energy with a pure human bloodline. Fortunately, I was able to extract Zarek's bloodline. Although I couldn't replicate his mysterious ability to adapt and grow stronger, I did manage to isolate and duplicate the pure human aspect."
As she spoke, the machines around the chamber whirred and shifted, giant metal hands moved with precision while small, roomba-like robots circled a metal container before her.
A steady green light glowed throughout the chamber as Mirabella waited patiently.
"But I have to thank that brat. Without his bloodline, I wouldn't even be alive right now."
She smirked to herself. The reason Zarek caught her attention was his pure human bloodline—something she desperately needed. As for the idea of a "destined one"? That was nothing but a lie. She didn't care about such things. She couldn't give a damn if the entire human race perished. All that mattered was her selfish desire to achieve godhood.
"I don't even care about that woman," Mirabella thought, recalling her childhood friend, "but I did find something interesting…"
She could still sense her friend's presence, alive, somehow. After all, she was made up of Mirabella's own divine energy, now residing within Zarek's consciousness.
"Zarek, Zarek… What terrifying secret are you hiding?"
She chuckled softly. "Your greatest mistake was not killing her. Unfortunately, I cannot sense beyond this place. Only when she speaks or thinks can I detect her presence but the same does not apply to Alice, although she was literally birthed from divine energy, it was an excess of mine and hasn't been refined by me but I still didn't expect that she would become one with Divine Energy."
Meanwhile, the green light in the chamber pulsed steadily, signaling the final preparations.
Soon, a container filled purely with blood lay before her.
With a flicker of golden starlight, Mirabella moved swiftly and slipped inside the tube.
"Once I have the perfect human bloodline and my high-level Divine Energy merged, I will be closer to godhood than ever before. And when that time comes, Zarek… you will face the consequences of defying me."
A maniacal laugh escaped her lips, reminiscent of the over-the-top villains from those cringe-worthy old movies.
But suddenly, her laughter froze mid-air.
"He's coming. Hurry up."
Her voice was sharp, edged with desperation.
Thump! Thump!
A terrifying rumble shook the chamber. Dust and debris rained down from the ceiling.
The shaking grew more violent with each passing second, until the entire chamber began to cave under the crushing force.
Then… it stopped.
Before she could even breathe a sigh of relief and rush to complete her transformation, the door to the hidden chamber was ripped from its hinges and slammed violently across the far wall opposite to it.
A strong, bulky man with long golden and blue pupils slowly walked into the room, the corner of his lips curved upwards.
"So, you were here, Mirabella? I missed you so much."
He looked towards the bloody container without a flinch in his expression. Instead, there was amusement in his gaze. "Are you using my blood to build a body for yourself?"
"So what if I am?" Mirabella's calm voice sounded. Despite being on the verge of her cards completely dying, she still maintained that calmness.
Not gonna lie, Zarek had to give her some points for that.
This woman truly had a deeply calculating mind.
"Let me guess, you were after my bloodline from the very beginning?" Zarek said, looking around the place.
"That's right," Mirabella agreed. "Do you not want to test your strength? I am giving you the chance. Wait for my transformation to end and we will again have a proper fight."
"Really?" Zarek made an incredulous expression. "No fooling?"
"No fooling." Mirabella's nervousness was palpable. She wanted nothing more than for her transformation to end, which would take around thirty seconds more. But in a fight, a mere blink can be a deciding factor, which was troublesome in its own right already.
Zarek touched his chin as if he was truly contemplating, then in an instant, his expression turned cold:
"But I don't believe you."
Mirabella felt a chill, an instinctive reaction when one's existence is at risk.
Bang!
Everything was destroyed in an instant. The whole hidden chamber crumbled, and with it, the tube where Mirabella was.
In an instant, everything was just a ruined mess. Wherever you looked, there was nothing but destruction and one man stood amidst this chaos.
"I know you are not dead yet. Come out, Mirabella," he scoffed without even looking around.
"Trying to escape? You think I will allow it?"
Zarek sneered as he lightly punched the ground.
