My SSS-Rank Clone Talent: I Level Up Endlessly!

Chapter 260: Tracing the Divine Energy!?

Alice couldn't think of anything, or anyone, that could help her. In this current form, she felt more helpless than ever. From what she could sense, this bastard's strength had reached an ungodly level. There was practically no chance for her to even stand against him, which only deepened her despair.

Then, her eyes were drawn to the woman lying to the side.

For some reason, the woman seemed oddly familiar, as if Alice had seen her before… somewhere.

"Girl," the woman suddenly chuckled.

Startled, Alice recoiled instinctively, fear flickering in her eyes as she stammered, "Y-yes…?"

"Do you know who I am?" the woman spoke again. This time, her voice had changed, it was deeper, more resonant.

The moment Alice heard it, something clicked in her mind. A memory surged forth, and she stared at the woman in disbelief. Her legs almost gave out:

"A-are you… the one buried beneath the Excalibur?"

"That's right," the woman replied, her expression blank and unreadable. "Did you sell me out?"

The only ones who had ever known she was sealed beneath the Excalibur were Mirabella and Alice. She seriously doubted Mirabella would have said it. That left only Alice, and considering how stupid she could be, the woman didn't find it hard to believe.

She was ninety-nine percent certain it was Alice.

As for the last one percent… Well, considering her guilty reaction, it seems to be true.

"I didn't sell you out, I just wanted to see the expression of despair on Zarek's face, so I told him the truth. Even if he was the chosen one, there was no way that they were allowing him to become one," Alice retorted.

"You stupid girl," the woman sighed. "I want to be angry at you, but looking at your state, which is even more miserable than mine, I cannot be."

"Hehe." Alice chuckled playfully. She seemed to be much more relaxed now, her pupils darting around the place. "And who are these people?" she muttered with a curious tone.

From the darkness, Grey and his Grimoires revealed themselves.

When Alice's gaze fell on Grey, her pupils trembled. "Zarek?"

"Not exactly, but whatever," Grey mumbled with a casual shrug. Then, with curiosity, he seized Alice. "You weren't affected by the soul chains of Lilith? Are you not a soul?"

"Soul?" Alice tilted her head. "I am but a mere reflection of Divine Energy and nothing more."

"Oh?" Grey's ears perked up when he heard this. "Interesting, truly interesting. Well, anyway, have fun here. I will go back to my world. Don't act up here, or you will face consequences that you don't want to face. Till next time, then."

"Wait—" Alice tried to stop him, her mind still filled with confusion, but Grey and his Grimoires all disappeared from Zarek's consciousness one by one.

Now all that was left were the two women, one bound in chains and Alice, leaving her with a bitter expression.

Outside, Zarek was walking around the place, tracing the Divine Energy accurately with narrowed eyes. The pattern was zigzagging; he was sure that Mirabella did it intentionally so that he would slow down.

And Zarek was obedient, his pace extremely lazy. He was quite curious, now that he had directly destroyed her body, what else could she do about him?

He was still trying to test his strength.

Because he didn't have a proper fight with Mirabella at all, it was more half-assed. She self-destructed before he could even take action.

Zarek was also confused about this. Why would she do this? Was he really that scary?

While musing to himself, he took confident strides and appeared outside, where the chaos of the crowd was, in a simple word: palpable!

The murmurs, the cries of children as they lost their parents, the stampede—it was really heart-chilling to watch.

Zarek's pupils swept over the crowd, and he sighed in his heart. He wasn't a person who went around helping people, but if he could, then he would definitely provide some help. He at least had that much humanity left in him.

His figure turned into a blurry dust as he moved through the chaos in an instant.

A little girl was moments away from being crushed under the weight of the panicked crowd. Her face had gone pale with fear, and she squeezed her eyes shut, bracing for the pain.

But it never came.

Confused, she slowly opened her eyes. Her body wasn't hurt. She hadn't been squished.

Looking around, she saw she was no longer in the crows, dozens of other children stood beside her. Some were crying in fear and despair, while others simply looked around, lost and confused like her.

"What's happening?"

Zarek moved swiftly through the panicked crowd, shuttling between pockets of chaos and evacuating those in danger of being crushed. It took only a few seconds before he had cleared everyone to safety.

Among the chaos, he noticed several prisoners who were deliberately causing harm amidst the confusion. These were the ones he had released to sow chaos but some of them were the worst kind: cruel and stupid, lashing out at innocents.

Though he had allowed the prisoners to escape earlier, it had never been his intention for them to harm these people. Most had already been dealt with by the guards, and some had fled. But the ones remaining here… he had no mercy for them.

With a single glare, his telekinesis burst out. A sharp crack echoed through the air as their bodies were crushed like glass under pressure.

Once the last of them fell, Zarek calmly resumed his task, tracing the lingering threads of divine energy.

To his surprise, it led him outside. While following the Divine Energy, it led him far into the mountain, just as he was ten kilometers away from the palace.

He suddenly paused and turned back with a sneer:

"You really are crafty."

Then he shot forward without hesitation.

***

Back in the divine temple, inside the underground, there was a hidden chamber, separate from the prison and the divine sword.

Here, it was one of the topmost secret bases of Mirabella, something that only she knew of and created herself.

The sounds of metal clanking against each other could be constantly heard.

"Damn it, damn it, I have already lost my physical body."
