Chapter 53: Chapter 54: The Three Sannin of Konoha, Reunited
So childish.
Hagawa was exasperated. But when he subconsciously looked up, he couldn't see Tsunade's face. A swaying shadow enveloped him.
"Got it?" Tsunade stopped and looked at him.
"Got it," Hagawa said obediently. "Teacher, I'll help you take off your shoes."
"That's more like it." Tsunade released him.
Hagawa survived the pincer attack of those fleshy thighs. But before he could catch his breath, Tsunade lifted her foot, presenting her shapely foot right in front of him. Hagawa reached out, his fingers touching the fine, smooth skin of her instep and ankle. He undid the buckle and took off the high-heeled sandal, revealing her fair foot completely to the air. Perhaps because it was not used to being touched, her five toes curled slightly.
Tsunade switched to her right foot. Hagawa continued to take off the other high-heeled shoe, and at the end, he tickled the sole of her foot a couple of times.
"You little brat!" Tsunade's body trembled, and she instantly kicked him in annoyance. Hagawa subconsciously blocked with both hands and retreated two steps. He turned and ran, shouting, "I'm going to make dinner!"
Tsunade clenched her fists but ultimately didn't drag him back. She leaned back against the sofa again, crossing her legs and placing them on the coffee table. "I'll deal with you later."
After dinner, Hagawa continued to climb the tree, and then he discovered how terrifying a vengeful woman could be. Normally, Tsunade would throw two or four kunai. Today, she was throwing a whole handful at random. Hagawa was angry but didn't dare to speak.
"Come here." Tsunade glanced at the sky, stopped, and said.
Hagawa limped over to her.
"Will you dare to do it next time?" Tsunade reached out, a pale green chakra flowing from her hand.
"What next time?" Hagawa asked, blinking.
"What do you think?" After finishing the treatment, Tsunade pinched his cheek. "Remember to come earlier tomorrow."
"Okay," Hagawa nodded. "Goodbye, Teacher."
The moon rose and set, and it was a new day. Because of Tsunade's reminder last night, Hagawa woke up exceptionally early. But when he arrived at her house, he found her still sound asleep.
So unreliable.
Hagawa's mouth twitched. He raised his hand and began to knock on the door.
"Do you want to die?" Tsunade's voice rang out. The door was pulled open. A disheveled Tsunade, looking like a cat with its fur on end, appeared.
"You're the one who told me to come early." Hagawa looked up, only able to see her pajamas stretched to their limit.
Tsunade froze for a moment, feeling a little embarrassed, but her expression didn't change. She returned to her room and changed her clothes.
After breakfast, the two of them walked out onto the street. "Where are we going?" Hagawa couldn't help but ask.
"To the Yamanaka clan's flower shop," Tsunade answered.
Hagawa subconsciously looked at her. Her expression was different from before, very solemn, with a hint of sadness. What's going on? Hagawa hesitated but didn't ask.
Soon, they arrived at the Yamanaka clan's flower shop, owned by Ino Yamanaka's parents, though she hadn't been born yet. Tsunade bought two bouquets of chrysanthemums and gave one to Hagawa. White chrysanthemums symbolized mourning.
Hagawa understood where Tsunade was going. The Konoha Memorial Stone. Ninja who died in battle were buried here; it was a public cemetery.
Hagawa followed Tsunade in silence. Suddenly, he noticed a black figure in the distance. Slender, with long black hair and earrings. But he was probably a man.
"Tsunade, long time no see." The black figure heard their footsteps, turned around, and greeted them.
Hagawa blinked. A sentence flashed through his mind: How can you assume my gender? This was Orochimaru. His androgynous, handsome face and aura were too obvious.
"Hagawa?" Orochimaru looked at Hagawa, subconsciously licking his lips. "I've heard your name."
"Orochimaru," Tsunade said, patting Hagawa's head by way of introduction.
"Lord Orochimaru," Hagawa said politely. Orochimaru's gaze made him very uncomfortable, but thankfully he hadn't defected from the village yet, so he wasn't that dangerous. Plus, with Tsunade's protection, there shouldn't be any problem.
"It seems you value him highly," Orochimaru said, his eyes narrowing slightly. "This is the first time I've seen you bring an outsider to pay respects."
"He is my student, not an outsider," Tsunade said in a deep voice.
A trace of surprise flashed across Orochimaru's face. Is she serious? He had thought Tsunade was just bored and had taken a student for fun. Orochimaru glanced at Nawaki's gravestone, sighed internally, and made way. He had once had a student like that too. Unfortunately... human life was so fragile. I'm done with being human! Orochimaru watched as Tsunade and Hagawa placed the flowers, his thoughts drifting away.
"What have you been up to recently?" Tsunade turned to him and asked.
"The old man had me join Root," Orochimaru answered.
"Root?" Tsunade frowned. "He's not dealing with Danzo, but sending you instead?"
"It's nothing," Orochimaru said dismissively. "Root isn't so bad."
"Danzo is not a good person," Tsunade said with disgust.
"He can't do anything to me," Orochimaru said calmly.
"Tsunade-waaa!" Just then, a figure came running over.
"Tsk." Orochimaru let out a small laugh.
Tsunade raised her hand expressionlessly, then clenched her fist.
"Wait!" Jiraiya quickly stopped in his tracks. "Don't hit me, don't hit me!"
"You're late, Jiraiya," Orochimaru said, looking at him.
"I was delayed for a bit," Jiraiya said with a laugh.
"You smell of women's perfume," Orochimaru said with a malicious sniff.
Jiraiya's smile stiffened, and he shot him a fierce glare. You damned snake, I'll kill you!
Orochimaru was not afraid at all and met his gaze.
"I'll pay my respects first!" Jiraiya said quickly.
Tsunade snorted coldly, took Hagawa's hand, and distanced herself from him. Jiraiya let out a sigh of relief, but then he saw the two of them holding hands and couldn't help but grind his teeth. He had never even held her hand, and this little brat beat him to it. Oh well, why bother competing with a little kid.
Jiraiya walked forward and placed the white chrysanthemums down. He looked at Nawaki's gravestone and fell silent. Since his death, neither Tsunade nor Orochimaru were the same as before. Especially Orochimaru. He felt he was drifting further and further away.
"It's rare for us all to be together. My treat, let's go for barbecue, what do you say?" Jiraiya turned around and asked Tsunade and Orochimaru with a smile.
"Not going," Tsunade said, glancing at Hagawa. "I have something to do."
"What could be more important than the three Sannin reuniting?" Jiraiya retorted.
"Don't mention the 'Sannin'," Orochimaru said with a frown. The title of the "Three Sannin of Konoha" was bestowed by Hanzo the Salamander, the leader of Amegakure. It sounded impressive, but it was actually a humiliation, because the three of them couldn't defeat Hanzo.
"We can go," Tsunade's eyes darted around. "If you lend me some money."
"Fine," Jiraiya nodded, pained. Lending money to Tsunade was basically the same as giving it away.
