After leaving the Hokage's office, Hatake Sakumo let out a breath. Got scolded again.
He walked silently through the streets. What was the most important thing for a ninja? According to the ninja code, it was the mission. But he could never abandon his comrades for a mission. This was his conviction and his principle.
Oh well, let them talk. In the end, I completed the mission and saved my comrades. I have no regrets.
"I'm home, Kakashi." Hatake Sakumo composed himself and opened the door to his house. But when he received no response from Kakashi, he was slightly taken aback. What's going on?
Sakumo walked into the living room and saw Kakashi sitting on the sofa with a gloomy expression. Did... he lose to Hagawa again? That's strange.
In Sakumo's opinion, Kakashi's skills had already surpassed that of a Genin. With a bit of experience, he could become a Chunin. Moreover, he had personally designed Kakashi's special training for the past two months, and it was incredibly intense.
"Kakashi, what's wrong?" Sakumo sat down opposite him and asked.
"..." Kakashi snapped back to reality and explained what had happened.
"Monster Strength?" Sakumo looked surprised. Monster Strength was no ordinary ninjutsu; its difficulty was extremely high. The fact that Hagawa knew it was completely unexpected.
"Kakashi," Sakumo asked with a smile, "are you going to give up because of one failure?"
"Of course not," Kakashi said.
"Good. That's my son." Sakumo nodded with satisfaction.
"Then should I graduate early?" Kakashi hesitated for a few seconds. "The things they teach at the Academy are useless to me now."
"You made a promise to Hagawa, and you must honor it," Sakumo said, pausing for a moment. "I have an idea. You should go and train with Hagawa." To be honest, he didn't want Kakashi to graduate just yet. He was too young, only five years old.
"Will he agree?" Kakashi asked, stunned.
"He will," Sakumo said with confidence. "I'm a good judge of character."
...
Hagawa left the kitchen carrying a plate of tempura. Tsunade still wasn't back. Just as he was worrying that the tempura would get cold, the sound of the door opening echoed. Hagawa walked to the entrance.
Tsunade stood in the entryway, changing her shoes. As she bent over slightly, her heavy burdens made her clothes seem on the verge of giving way. Hagawa swallowed. This woman is a walking armory.
"Teacher." Hagawa walked up to her and took the tea-green jacket she had taken off.
"How was the first day of school?" Tsunade patted his head, then walked to the dining table. She had already smelled the fragrant aroma.
"It was what it was," Hagawa said with a sigh.
"What's wrong?" Tsunade picked up her chopsticks. "Did something unpleasant happen?"
"Not really," Hagawa said, sitting opposite her. "It's just that Lord Hokage is quite the talker."
Tsunade let out a schadenfreude-filled laugh. Hagawa shot her a dissatisfied glare.
"It's fine," Tsunade said with a comforting smile. "You'll experience it many more times in the future."
"If you can't comfort someone, then don't." Annoyed, Hagawa picked up a piece of fried shrimp and stuffed it into her mouth.
Tsunade, not holding back at all, bit down on the chopsticks and used her tongue to roll the shrimp into her mouth. Hagawa stared at the glistening saliva on his chopsticks and fell silent.
"I haven't used this pair." Tsunade swapped chopsticks with him. After swallowing the shrimp, she said, "Your cooking is getting better and better. Good job, keep it up."
It was all thanks to his cheat ability. Hagawa cooked for Tsunade every day, and the progress bar for his E-rank 'Chef' trait was constantly increasing, almost at D-rank.
"The day after tomorrow, you should take a day off," Tsunade said suddenly, as if remembering something. "I'm taking you somewhere."
"Where?" Hagawa asked curiously. No matter how urgent things were, Tsunade never interfered with his school time. This was a first.
"You'll know when we get there," Tsunade said casually.
Hagawa keenly sensed that she was somewhat distracted. He grew even more curious, but he didn't press further. After dinner, it was time for their daily instruction.
"Teacher, when can I learn Monster Strength?" Hagawa asked, remembering the lie he had told Kakashi today.
"Monster Strength has high physical requirements," Tsunade said, walking over to him. "Don't move, let me check your development."
What kind of predatory words are these? Hagawa complained internally but still stood obediently.
Tsunade reached out and pinched his shoulders, arms, thighs, and other parts. After finishing, she thought for a moment and said, "It feels like you're still a bit lacking."
"So I can't learn it now?" Hagawa felt a sense of regret. The destructive power of Monster Strength was terrifying. In the original series, its performance was in no way inferior to a normal Rasengan, and it was even more powerful.
"Besides physical strength, Monster Strength also requires chakra control," Tsunade said after some thought. "Let's train your chakra control first."
Hagawa was taken aback. Because he needed to learn medical ninjutsu, his chakra control was already the best among his peers. The classic water-walking and tree-climbing exercises were a breeze for him. But he hadn't expected the requirements for Monster Strength to be so high. No wonder Shizune had followed Tsunade for so long but had learned neither the Yin Seal nor Monster Strength.
"How do we train?" Hagawa asked.
"Tree climbing." Tsunade walked outside.
"Tree climbing?" Hagawa followed her. "Tree climbing is no longer a challenge for me."
"This tree." Tsunade didn't explain, simply pointing. "Get up there."
Seeing this, Hagawa didn't ask any more questions and walked to the tree. Under his control, chakra flowed to the soles of his feet. He then stepped onto the bark and walked up, step by step.
"Hagawa, watch out for the kunai," Tsunade reminded him, raising her hand and revealing two kunai.
We're playing like this?
Hagawa's expression changed slightly as he quickly dodged.
"There's more," Tsunade said, flicking her wrists. This time, there were four kunai.
Although Hagawa reacted quickly, he was still hit in the thigh by one of them. He lost his footing and fell from the tree. The kunai were made of wood. Under Tsunade's control, they wouldn't cause injury, but they still hurt when they hit.
"You can't last for even one round?" Tsunade asked with a smile.
"Again!" Hagawa patted his butt and stood up. I have to last at least seven rounds!
The night passed. Hagawa was bruised and swollen, but it wasn't a big deal. Both he and Tsunade were medical-nin.
A new day.
The first lesson of the second grade was one of the three basic jutsu: the Substitution Jutsu.
"The Substitution Jutsu is, in essence, a sleight of hand. It requires you to prepare a substitute in advance, such as a log or a wooden plank," Eiichiro lectured from the front of the class. "The principle is to use the substitute to block the enemy's attack as quickly as possible within a cloud of smoke."
Although Hagawa hadn't learned the three basic jutsu before, thanks to his superb chakra control, he mastered it almost instantly. As for the other students, their progress was much slower. The three basic jutsu were possibly the only three ninjutsu many Genin would ever learn over their six years at the Academy. But such Genin usually found it difficult to survive to the end, destined to become cannon fodder.
It had to be said, the life of a ninja was just that cruel.
