In the end, Kazuki's heart softened, and he let Lt. Surge go, not allowing Sabrina to turn him into a doll for her amusement. 

Of course, as a token of gratitude, it was only reasonable to accept the Thunder Stone that Lt. Surge offered as "protection money"… ahem, I mean, as a thank-you gift.

Kazuki wiped the surface of the cyan stone, which was crystal clear and had intricate, intertwined "green snakes" visible inside—a testament to the high purity of Thunder-type energy in nature. This was truly a top-tier Evolution Stone.

Semi-reclining on the comfortable car seat, Kazuki glanced at the raven-haired girl beside him. 

Her eyes were closed, her beautiful lashes gently resting, and her head leaned on his shoulder as she breathed evenly.

After everything that had happened tonight, Sabrina was probably the most exhausted. 

Using her psychic abilities at such a high intensity was incredibly draining, and Kazuki had already noticed her yawning repeatedly during the police statement.

With minimal movement, Kazuki shifted his body slightly, which was tightly wrapped in Sabrina's arms, freeing one hand without waking her. 

Then, he raised his free hand and gently brushed the strands of hair from her cheek.

As if feeling the tickling sensation in her sleep, Sabrina's lashes fluttered slightly, but she showed no sign of discomfort. Instead, she tightened her grip on his arm.

What an adorable sleeping face! Although Sabrina was usually quiet, she always exuded an icy, unapproachable aura except when she was alone with Kazuki. 

Seeing her shed her cold exterior and reveal her vulnerable, baby-like self in public made Kazuki's heart stir with an inexplicable impulse.

Would Sabrina's cherry lips feel soft if he kissed them? Lowering his head slightly, the glossy pink hue was so captivating that his thoughts began to wander.

He sneakily glanced at the front seat, where Officer Jenny was focused on driving. 

As an apology for disturbing them all night, the Officer Jenny from Vermilion City had volunteered to personally drive them to their next destination—Celadon City.

Although they had only spent a day in Vermilion City and hadn't even explored it… considering the city's industrial atmosphere with rows of factories, there wasn't much to see anyway. It was better to head to Celadon City sooner and experience the beauty of the "Rainbow City."

But the scenery of Celadon City wasn't what Kazuki was thinking about right now. The "scenery" right in front of him was waiting to be discovered!

It shouldn't be a problem, right? Just a quick peck… 

After confirming that Officer Jenny wasn't paying attention to the rearview mirror, Kazuki swallowed hard, mustered his courage, and leaned down to press his lips against Sabrina's warm ones.

The moment their lips touched, Sabrina's body jolted violently as if struck by electricity. Her eyes flew open, and her ruby-like gaze met Kazuki's.

Quickly pulling back, Kazuki averted his eyes and awkwardly rubbed his nose. "Uh… so you weren't asleep, huh? Hehe…"

"J-Just woke up," Sabrina turned her head to the side, her cheeks flushed, her voice as soft as a mosquito's hum.

This was a lie. 

As an exceptional psychic, Sabrina could remain acutely aware of her surroundings even while her body was asleep. 

This was a basic skill for her.

Every move Kazuki had made, even the expressions on his face, hadn't escaped Sabrina's perception… 

In fact, she had deliberately left this opening for him.

The little trick her mother had taught her was indeed useful. 

The only regret was that she had lost her composure the moment Kazuki acted intimately, cutting their kiss short. 

Otherwise, it might have lasted longer.

Next time, I'll definitely go further! Sabrina silently encouraged herself, her eyes filled with a mix of regret and determination.

Meanwhile, Kazuki, overwhelmed by embarrassment, returned to polishing the Thunder Stone in his hand. The silver lining was that Officer Jenny hadn't noticed his little act, or else he wouldn't just be looking for a hole to crawl into—he might have ended up with free room and board for life.

A long silence filled the backseat, until Sabrina unexpectedly broke it. "Kazuki… what are you going to do with that stone?"

"The Thunder Stone?" Kazuki glanced down at the cyan Evolution Stone and pondered. "I could save it for Magnemite's evolution later, or Eevee could use it to become a Jolteon… Speaking of which, I haven't asked her what form she wants to evolve into."

With that thought, Kazuki took out Eevee's Poké Ball and released the fluffy Pokémon. Eevee curled up on Kazuki's lap, her long ears twitching slightly.

"Eevee~" She looked up with bright, round eyes, wondering why Kazuki had called her out.

"It's nothing major. I just wanted to know if you have a form you'd like to evolve into. Of course, I'll respect your choice, whether you want to evolve or stay as you are."

Kazuki gently stroked the space between her ears as he asked.

Hearing his words, Eevee's gaze fell on the cyan stone in Kazuki's palm, and she immediately understood why he had brought this up.

Her eyes grew distant as she recalled her time at the Saffron Gym. Back then… while learning various moves from Espeon, her senior had explained the many possibilities for Eevee's evolution.

First, by absorbing the energy of various Evolution Stones, like the Thunder Stone in Kazuki's hand, she could become an Electric-type Jolteon. 

Of course, this kind of evolution relied on accumulating specific energies and her own understanding of the corresponding type, so it was possible to evolve without a stone by training in a suitable environment.

However, since she had almost no talent for offensive moves, this type of evolution held little meaning for her.

"Eevee~ (Maybe you could try becoming like me~)" Espeon had suggested. According to her, while Eevee wasn't suited for offense, she had a high aptitude for various status moves. Becoming an Espeon and being a solid support for her teammates was the best path.

But if she became a support, she would have to stay behind her teammates, unable to fulfill her dream of being a knight who protects the weak.

Looking up, the moonlight streamed through the car window, casting a silvery glow. Unlike the scorching sun, the cool moonlight reflected in her round eyes, and for a moment, she was lost in thought.

"Kazuki, I want to go for a walk," Sabrina suddenly spoke up.

"Now?" Kazuki was slightly surprised, but when he saw the look on Eevee's face, he immediately understood. Leaning forward, he called out to Officer Jenny in the driver's seat:

"Officer Jenny, could you stop here for a bit? We'd like to take a short walk. We'll be back soon."

"Huh?" Officer Jenny instinctively hit the brakes. As the engine quieted down, she turned around with a look of surprise.

Although they were in the outskirts and not on a highway, stopping here wouldn't inconvenience anyone. But it was the middle of the night, and letting two kids wander off seemed like a recipe for trouble!

Then she quickly remembered that, given their abilities, if they ran into any troublemakers, the danger would likely be on the other side.

With a sigh, Officer Jenny relented. "Alright, but don't go too far. It's easy to get lost in this wilderness."

"Got it!" Kazuki replied loudly as he pushed open the car door. With one hand holding Eevee and the other holding Sabrina's hand, he ran off into the night.

The cool night breeze brushed past their faces. After running for a while, they stopped at the top of a small hill. Here, their view was unobstructed, and they could clearly see the full moon.

"Eevee." Eevee realized she had never truly taken the time to appreciate the moon before. Compared to the sun, which illuminated everything, the moon's faint silver light seemed insignificant.

But as she basked in the moonlight, her heart felt an unusual sense of peace and tranquility, as if she was meant to merge with the silvery glow.

"Eevee, Eevee? (Kazuki, if the sun already exists, why is there a need for the moon?)"

"Hmm…" Kazuki thought for a moment before answering:

"Eevee, do you know that different regions on this planet have different time zones? When it's daytime in one place, it's nighttime in another. The sun can't shine on every corner at all times, and without the moon, those places would be plunged into complete darkness."

"Even if it's just a faint light, it can still be the only hope for those in the dark. Perhaps the moon represents salvation."

Salvation… Eevee repeated Kazuki's words in her mind. When she looked up again, her body, bathed in moonlight, began to undergo a subtle change.

Similar to Espeon's evolution, becoming an Umbreon required a deep bond with her trainer—something Eevee had long since achieved. What she lacked was a moment of enlightenment, a firm resolve to walk her chosen path.

Now, the path to her ideal had been illuminated by the moonlight. All the conditions for evolution were met, and a white light enveloped Eevee's body. Within the glow, her form grew longer until she stood upright on the ground:

"Kazuki, Umbreon, at your service."
