My Manor

Chapter 315: Chapter 313: Outbreak

"Retreat!" Phillips' auction house was only a few dozen meters away from where Jiang Hai had the accident. As the attackers rushed out, their weapons were already within range, and many had already opened fire. Compared to the small pistols in the hands of these assailants, the security guards were armed with larger firearms. The sounds of gunshots and the feeling of bullets whizzing past made the leaders realize that if they didn't leave, they would die here. They yelled to flee, but escaping wasn't so simple.

Their car had been damaged earlier, and now the driver, after shaking his head in defeat, climbed out. They wanted to run, but without a car, their options were limited. Two cars ahead of them were still functional, but one was occupied by Aphra and others, with the doors and windows locked. The other had Jiang Hai and Moses Adams inside, so escaping wasn't easy.

"Steal that commercial vehicle!" The driver, now out of the car, shouted. As soon as they heard this, the four remaining thugs rushed toward the commercial vehicle.

"Damn, they're after Darlene and the others! Do you have any weapons?" Seeing the actions of the attackers, Jiang Hai, who had just breathed a sigh of relief after the security guards arrived, tensed up again and asked Moses Adams loudly. After thinking for a moment, Moses Adams pulled out a wrench.

"This is all I have in the car. There's a gun in the trunk," Moses said, handing the wrench to Jiang Hai. He trusted Jiang Hai's abilities and knew their only chance of survival rested on him.

"Alright, go get it." As the driver neared the commercial vehicle, Jiang Hai didn't waste time. He immediately opened the door and dashed out, while Moses Adams bent down to open the trunk.

By now, the fastest thug had already reached the commercial vehicle. Finding the door locked, he punched the window, preparing to pull the car open from the inside. However, as soon as his hand reached in, Darlene, who had been hiding behind, grabbed a sharpener and stabbed it into the man's hand without hesitation. Although Darlene wasn't strong, her strike was enough to pierce the man's hand deeply.

"Ah!" With a scream, blood spurted from his hand, halting his attempt to steal the car.

The other attackers, who had initially underestimated the women, were now enraged by the retaliation. One raised his weapon, preparing to fire, but Jiang Hai had already reached the front of the car. He hurled the wrench at the nearest thug.

"Whoosh!" The wrench, propelled by Jiang Hai's full strength, made a deafening noise as it flew through the air. The thugs, wearing helmets, couldn't hear the whistling wind, but they felt the force when the wrench struck one of them. The impact not only knocked him out cold but also sent him flying into the other two attackers, knocking them down.

"Who did that!" The driver, seeing his men fall, pulled out his pistol and fired at Jiang Hai. But Jiang Hai, already on guard, ducked behind the commercial vehicle just as the shots rang out.

At that moment, Moses Adams, who had reached the Cadillac, had also retrieved a gun box. Spotting him, Jiang Hai signaled for him to throw it over. Without hesitation, Moses tossed it, and Jiang Hai caught it, hiding behind the car again. He opened the box, revealing a Beretta 92F. Jiang Hai had used this gun before, and after loading it, he felt a sense of relief. This was the first time he had to use a gun to fight for his life.

"Capture a hostage, or you won't get away!" As Jiang Hai prepared to fire, he overheard the thugs' orders. The voice made him curse inwardly for its shamelessness, but it also gave him an opportunity. Without hesitation, Jiang Hai stood up and smashed the window on the other side of the commercial vehicle. As Aphra and the others readied themselves for a fight, Jiang Hai opened the door.

"Get down!" As he did so, the other side of the car was already opened by the attackers. Seeing it was Jiang Hai, Aphra and the others didn't hesitate. They immediately dropped down as Jiang Hai fired.

Sheila Rodney, still lying low, felt the bullets whiz overhead. The attackers, stunned by the sudden turn of events, didn't expect Jiang Hai to open the door from the other side. Within moments, six or seven gunshot wounds appeared on the chests of the two thugs who had climbed up to the door. Jiang Hai didn't shoot just once; he fired continuously. Despite the attackers' helmets, their bodies weren't protected, and the bullets tore through them. They collapsed, lifeless, to the ground.

Meanwhile, the thug pinned to the door by the sharpener realized that continuing this way meant certain death. Gritting his teeth in pain, he yanked the sharpener from his hand and fired his pistol.

The instant he pulled the trigger, Afra and the others ducked, and Jiang Hai swiftly dropped to the ground. As he crawled beneath the car, he caught sight of the thug's feet. Without hesitation, he fired at the man's ankle. The thug screamed and fell to the side, weakened by the injury.

The man had already suffered the sting of the sharpener, and now his foot was shot. However, his worst fate was yet to come.

As he fell, he looked up at Jiang Hai. Although he attempted to raise his gun and shoot, Jiang Hai was quicker. Calmly, he aimed and fired. The bullet pierced the thug's throat, spilling blood and causing his body to slump lifelessly to the ground.

"Who is this? Damn it!" The driver, seeing his last man fall, yelled in panic. Instead of fighting to the death, he threw his weapon aside and surrendered to the security guards who had arrived.

The security guards, not being law enforcement, were uncertain about what to do. In the United States, laws on self-defense were similar to those in China. While one could use a gun in self-defense, killing someone after they had surrendered or lost their combat ability could lead to charges of intentional homicide.

Jiang Hai, however, was consumed with rage. He climbed to his feet, gun in hand, and started moving toward the driver.

"Jiang, he's surrendered. You can't kill him!" Moses Adams rushed over, grabbing Jiang Hai by the waist and trying to restrain him.

Jiang Hai and Moses had worked together for a long time, and Moses knew Jiang Hai was furious. But as a lawyer, he had to intervene.

"Let go of me!" Jiang Hai shouted, struggling against Moses's grip.

"There are surveillance cameras here. He's surrendered. If you kill him, it'll be trouble. Leave the rest to me," Moses urged, his voice firm.

Though Jiang Hai's anger flared, Moses's words sank in. Jiang Hai knew that killing the man now would be more trouble than it was worth. But his anger didn't dissipate. He could barely contain his fury.

Moses, seeing Jiang Hai hesitate, took a deep breath and walked toward the security guards, signaling for them to take the driver into custody.

But Jiang Hai wasn't finished yet. As the man walked toward the guards, Jiang Hai raised his gun again and fired. The bullet tore through the thug's thigh, sending him into a pool of blood, screaming in agony.

Moses, stunned, turned to see the man still moving. At least Jiang Hai had spared his life. As Jiang Hai approached, he said coldly, "I won't kill you, but I'll make sure you rot in prison."

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Jiang Hai fired again, this time hitting the thug's other leg and both arms. The man screamed in agony, his cries echoing through the street. The pain was unbearable. Now, with his limbs useless, he could only hope for death.

At that moment, an alarm blared loudly. Jiang Hai casually tossed the gun aside, staring down at the man on the ground. He knew this wasn't over—this man wasn't the mastermind, and there was more to come.
