Chapter 225: You Finally Noticed?
Hal Fennec and his cursed bag of tricks had long been getting under Yisu's skin.
And so, she couldn't help but slightly enjoy the panicking and desperate expression on the young Magna Prospect's face.
"Hahahaha! What? I can't understand you!" laughed the Fell Hag, firing a Spatial Rend the brat's way, followed by a Gravity Ball to force him to exert himself and exhale more air.
[Dark Reversal Plate] was still on cooldown, and so, Hal could only defend himself with a [Mana Barrier], [Reinforced Ice Wall], and [Dreadmaw] combo to destroy Yisu's Spatial Rend.
He then left the effective area of the Gravity Ball with a Zephyr Step.
In her vindication, the Fell Hag forgot that Hal had the mysterious middle finger, suffering yet another invisible counterattack.
"Puhaahk!"
Yisu spat out a mouthful of blood, her limbs trembling.
'What the hell is that attack?!' she cursed inwardly, finding very little strength to waste.
She gazed coldly at Hal and made a guess.
The Fell Hag realized that she never suffered from the attack whenever she was behind the infuriating brat, and so concluded that it had something to do with being within the bastard's vision.
She slammed her palms together, as if praying, allowing her to conjure a transparent barrier that hid her entire figure in the illusion of an empty night sky.
It was as though Yisu had turned invisible when, in fact, she merely hid behind a Spatial Distortion.
Hal attempted yet another attack using the immoral gesture.
'Damn it…'
But his attack failed.
He indeed needed Yisu to be in his line of sight, and within a certain range, for the [Epic]-tier [Winter's Grasp] to work.
The Fell Hag could see him through the Spatial Distortion, laughing triumphantly after momentarily flinching in anticipation of the pain from the middle finger.
It worked!
Now, it was only a matter of time before the infuriating brat perished from asphyxiation.
The Imperial Wizard Army was on the verge of breaking through, but in her twisted merriment, Yisu momentarily forgot her objectives, her eyes shining as she watched Hal.
Oh, how satisfying it was to witness the infuriating brat grasp at empty air while looking around for a way.
The young bastard of the human race even tried to destroy her barrier once, using a surprising [Gravity Ball] of his own.
However, the Spatial Domination Domain must be destroyed in an instant, as the caster could only shift the damage to another location otherwise.
Yisu was in total control of the massive sphere, after all.
Hal was inwardly fascinated by the effects of the domain-type spell.
The damage done by his [Gravity Ball] was somehow being repaired after every second, though he was more pleased at being able to bamboozle the dumb hag.
He quickly turned around and fired a "desperate" middle finger, even using both hands to emphasize the gesture.
"Hahahaha! Die, brat!"
Suffocating Hal was a delightful sight for Yisu, and she had decided to kill him this way, as it would be the most satisfying way to end the young bastard of the human race after all of the infuriating things he had done to her.
Meanwhile, Hal, too, was inwardly laughing uproariously:
"Hahahahaha! She's even laughing! Let's see if you can still laugh later…'
Hal acted more and more desperately, glancing at the Imperial Wizard Army beneath him from time to time while fending off the occasional offensive attacks from his opponent.
'That's it! Just a little more!' he cheered.
The Fell Hag had fallen hook, line, and sinker for his desperate act of grasping for air, though it would be impossible to keep this ruse up for long.
Nonetheless, he had already achieved his objective.
"We're through!!" roared Emmanuel, who quickly rushed to the rear after clearing out the last row of Fell Beasts. "Zephyr Battalion, Boulder Guards, reinforce the flanks! Double time!"
Realizing that they've broken through, excitement washed over the wizards of the Imperial Army, and their morale began to rise once more.
They became more animated and enthusiastic in spellcasting.
Thank the gods the Chaos Magna Prospect was with them!
Even now, he was still clashing with the horrifying fell leader who slaughtered Zephyron's cohort members.
…It has been a little over a minute since Yisu deprived Hal of air.
Yet, the bastard was still "struggling."
The enjoyment the Fell Hag felt as she watched the infuriating brat slowly diminished, replaced by a sense of urgency.
A few seconds ago, she took the time to check the ongoing battle beneath her, realizing that the humans were already through.
She couldn't help but slightly regret toying with the brat and prolonging things for the sake of her twisted leisure.
Even she couldn't take on an entire army alone…
While her reinforcements were close, and the chances of the humans escaping back to their territory were slim, she couldn't help but feel uneasy, for some reason.
She could easily slaughter Ennya Kasai and that tan-skinned middle-aged commander.
There shouldn't be anyone who could take her on after Hal Fennec perished, so why was she so uneasy?
Was there perhaps another crouching tiger among the humans?
Yisu's rationality had returned, and she had decided to finish off Hal Fennec.
The Fell Hag rarely gave Hal any time to attack, and so he was unable to even find time to attempt and sever the disappearing chains that bound him to Yisu.
Still, he didn't waste time and carefully studied the spell.
It would appear whenever he activated its restrictions.
This meant that Hal would have to try and destroy it while either a Spatial Rend or a Gravity Ball was headed his way.
'Let's try, then.'
It was dangerous, but he would have to do it.
Soon, the battle resumed, as Yisu went right back to spamming her Spatial Rends and Gravity Balls.
Her spells were incredibly fast, and Hal was relying mostly on instinct and his vast arsenal of spells to keep his life.
His eyes couldn't keep up at all.
Had Yisu been the same type of fighter as the ones who utilize lightning and melee attacks to overwhelm their opponents, and if only she hadn't been too prideful and pretentious at the beginning of the battle, perhaps she would've long killed Hal.
Now, she was starting to run low on mana, mostly due to the amount needed to maintain all the air on her side of the domain.
It had also been established earlier that Hal and his assorted arsenal of spells made it difficult for Yisu to take his life in the conventional way.
Asphyxiation was the most efficient way to do it.
However, although reliable, this method was a bit too slow, and the Fell Hag was running out of time.
She could only use Spatial Rends and Gravity Balls to expedite the process, even though she didn't expect that these basic spells would be able to end the infuriating bastard.
It would have to be the lack of air that would kill him. It should happen anytime now, anyway…
She had expended far too many spells and resources to kill him this way.
With her dwindling mana reserves, she didn't have the option to change her approach.
Not anymore, especially since her body was on the verge of collapsing as well.
The effects of the mysterious immoral attack had taken a toll on her body.
Yisu acknowledged that she f*cked up big time, severely underestimating the infuriating brat and allowing things to develop to this extent.
'No matter…I'll kill this brat first, then worry about the human army later…' she thought inwardly, making swiping and forward grasping motions to rend the space and shoot gravity balls.
Hal defended with a trusty [Dark Reversal Plate], allowing him to deflect the Spatial Rend back to the caster's way, which also granted him a bit of time to enact his plan.
Shortly after, he [Licht Step]ped out of the Gravity Ball's effective range.
This activated the restrictions of the Spatial Shackles.
The moment it appeared, Hal conjured a massive greatsword, hacking down at the spell.
An ethereal clanging sound echoed in the night skies as the greatsword made contact with the chains, finally snapping them.
"I'm free!" he celebrated in delight.
Meanwhile, Yisu, who had just dodged her own Spatial Rend with a Blink, was about to resume attacking Hal when she noticed the bastard, who should've been struggling for air, grinning victoriously as the fragments of her shattered spell scattered to the four winds.
"YOU!!" She shrieked, "YOU CAN BREATHE?!"
Hal froze, realizing his failure..
'Oh, well…'
He wouldn't be able to keep it up for long, anyway. He might as well reap the fruits of his labor now.
"Hahaha! You finally noticed, dumb hag?"
