Chapter 162: Shelter (E)
The Oasis was filled with several palm trees and thick bushes. There was a single water source, which was a huge pond situated at the centre of the oasis.
As one got closer to it, the vegetation also increased.
Jin and the rest had by now chosen the spots they liked and started gathering materials to make a makeshift roof for the night.
Shadow, the man with long hair, used this opportunity to rest a little and applied first aid to his wound.
"Why do you even have that in your bag?" The red-haired youth asked when he saw the first aid kit being taken out of the man's bag.
"It's good to be prepared," Shadow replied with a smile.
"Being prepared for what? To lose? I'll rather die than bring such bitchy things with me," The youth replied proudly and left to gather some branches and leaf.
Shadow just shook his head with a chuckle and continued with his work.
Tick! Tick!
Jin broke a few branches off the trees and bushes and dragged them to his spot. A while later, several palm tree leaves were also brought by him.
He wanted to start building right away, but the noon sun was no joke. He decided to take shelter under a tree until the evening.
It was the same with others who came back to their spots during this period.
'Luckily, I brought some food with me,' Jin took out some food he had packed earlier and started munching on it.
Meanwhile, he also took out his phone to check something.
'We are indeed in the middle of nowhere,' He mused as he looked at the no signal message on his phone.
Time slowly passed. Nobody was interested in talking with each other as they had no idea what tomorrow had in store for them. Maybe they would have to kill each other just like today? As a result, they kept their distance.
Finally, when it was about four in the evening and the sun's intensity lessened, they started working again.
First, Jin planted four branches on the sand, two long and two short. After that, he made a roof with a bunch of branches and finally laid the huge palm leaves to cover his entire roof.
The whole procedure took Jin almost two hours to complete, and he was the first one to complete his shelter.
The second one was the guy wearing spectacles, followed by the red-haired youth and Shadow.
The only one left was Ice. Having three of her fingers broken, this simple task had become much more difficult for her. She still persisted and forced her way through the pain.
However, time wasn't on her side. When she had only finished with the frame of her shelter, it was already half past seven, and the sun was about to set.
"Can't even make a shelter, and you want to become an assassin? I'm truly curious how you even made it this far. Did you kill your targets in bed while they were busy playing with your body?
On a second thought, that truly seems to be the case. So don't you think that instead of 'Ice' you should have chosen your codename as 'Slut'?" Seeing Ice in her predicament, the red-haired youth made fun of her and tried to once again provoke her.
Ice was having none of that. She knew that to handle such bastards, taking a step back wasn't the solution.
Swish!
The knife she had been using to chop the branches left her hand the next moment and was aimed at the red-haired youth's face.
Because of the dim light, the blade wasn't visible to the youth at all, and as a last resort, he covered his face with his arms.
"Argh you bitch!" He roared in anger as the knife grazed his face.
Ice took advantage of this moment and rushed behind him to attempt a chokehold.
Although hot-tempered, the youth wasn't dumb. He used his elbow the next moment, and it slammed right on Ice's face.
It was a clean hit, and the next moment Ice's stunned figure fell on her back. By the time her vision recovered, the youth held onto her leg and was dragging her to his shelter.
Ice tried to resist by flailing her arms and legs, but without any weapon in her hand, her struggle was useless.
"Don't struggle. I promise that I'll kill you gently after enjoying you tonight alright?" The youth replied sadistically as he continued to drag her.
"Maybe you should stop," Shadow, who had been observing everything, blocked his path.
The youth was not in the mood to argue, so he took out his pistol the next moment and pointed it towards him.
"Try stopping me then," The youth glared.
The two of them exchanged a glare for a couple of seconds before Shadow finally raised his hand in surrender.
"I was just saying it because the instructor might get angry if something happens to her," Shadow added as he took a step aside and no longer blocked the youth.
"It's called an Assassin's academy. He won't give a damn even if I kill everyone here tonight so stop bothering me and piss off!" The youth glared at Shadow one last time and proceeded towards his shelter.
He finally threw Ice's body inside and kicked her hard in her stomach.
While Ice was groaning from the pain, the youth unbuttoned his pants and got ready to play with her.
"I've never slept with a female assassin before. Is your body more flexible than a normal woman? I just can't wait to experience you tonight hehe." With a depraved expression, he pulled Ice up by her hair and enjoyed her defeated expression.
Sigh.
His hand finally went for her clothes, but before they could tear them off, a sigh was heard in the background.
Phut!
A bullet left a gun's barrel, passed through the silencer, and pierced the youth's temples the very next moment.
With relief returning to her face, Ice looked towards the person who had saved her life. She wanted to thank him.
However, a conflicted appearance soon appeared on her face the very next moment.
She had thought that it was Shadow who had saved her, but it wasn't him. It was Jin!
"Why?... Why did you save me?" She couldn't help but ask in confusion. Her relationship with this man was anything but amicable so no matter how much she thought she couldn't understand the reason behind his actions.
"Just because I wanted to," Jin answered curtly and turned around.
As he walked towards his shelter, Shadow and the spectacled man looked at him with added interest.
