Chapter 242: Chapter 241: Kaminari’s Request
"Now that you know who I am and why I'm here to take you away, what's your choice, Kaminari?"
All For One stood calmly outside the prison cell, his voice low and steady. Slowly, he raised his right hand, prepared to personally rip apart the iron bars the moment Kaminari agreed.
"Don't act yet," Kaminari said with a calm smile. "Based on my estimate, the police and Heroes will arrive in about five minutes."
"Oh?" All For One tilted his head slightly, intrigued. "You don't seem bothered by my identity."
"Why would I be?" Kaminari replied with a shrug. "You haven't done anything to offend me, and I'm not a cop or a Hero. Why should I hate you?"
"Hehehe, you truly are different," All For One said, his tone laced with amusement.
Even with his face obscured by a black hood, his appreciation for Kaminari grew. Compared to his other prospects, like Tomura Shigaraki, Kaminari had a composure and intelligence that felt leagues ahead.
"So, your ultimate goal is to destroy the current society and return things to the chaos of the dark age you ruled before?" Kaminari asked, his tone almost casual as if discussing the weather.
At that moment, faint alarms could already be heard in the distance. Yet, neither Kaminari nor All For One reacted to them.
"That's right. A world where there are no shackles or restraints. A place where the strong can do whatever they please."
"Sure, sure," Kaminari said with a nod before raising another question. "But… have you ever considered that times have changed?"
"Times… have changed?"
All For One repeated the phrase slowly, caught off guard.
Kaminari leaned back on the cell bed, maintaining only a slight charge in his body to allow for quick movement. "The reason you succeeded back then wasn't just because of your Quirk or your strategies. A big factor was the chaos brought on by the sudden emergence of Quirks. Society didn't know how to handle it."
He glanced at All For One's tall figure with a faint smile. "But now, things are different. The world has adapted to Quirks. If you cause chaos in Japan, do you think the rest of the world will just stand by and watch?"
Kaminari's voice grew sharper as he pressed his point. "Tell me, All For One, do you still have the strength to go up against the entire world?"
From All For One's earlier explanation, Kaminari had noticed something peculiar: his ambitions seemed solely focused on Japan, as though toppling the country would mean victory. But the reality was far more complicated.
All For One fell silent, deep in thought. He had been so consumed by his obsession with One For All and All Might that he hadn't seriously considered the global ramifications of his actions.
Seeing this, Kaminari smirked. "So, before you try to win me over, maybe think about that first. Also… I have to admit, your Quirk is fascinating."
---
Outside, the reinforcements finally arrived. The entrance to the police station was swarmed with flashing lights from police cars, and three armed personnel carriers rolled into position.
"Move, move!"
Heavily armed riot police poured out of the carriers, forming ranks behind the professional Heroes, including Midnight, who had arrived to lead the charge.
---
"Looks like we'll have to continue this conversation another time," Kaminari said with a shrug. "I won't leave with you, not today. You haven't given me a reason to believe in your vision yet."
Truthfully, Kaminari felt a tinge of regret. He still wanted to learn more about All For One's Quirk, particularly the ability to extract and transfer Quirks, a power that intrigued him deeply.
As the thought crossed his mind, Kaminari couldn't help but draw a parallel. "Now that I think about it, your ability is kind of like the Dark-Dark Fruit from One Piece…"
Kaminari's eyes narrowed as he glanced at All For One. "And you even dress in black… You really do give off 'Blackbeard' vibes."
All For One chuckled, amused by the comparison. "Are you interested in my Quirk? If you want to know more, I can buy us another ten minutes. Or longer, if you're willing."
"Buy time? What do you—"
"Boom!!!"
Before Kaminari could finish his question, a deafening shockwave erupted.
---
The entire building seemed to groan under the force of the blast. Kaminari could feel the air being sucked away from his surroundings, leaving him gasping for breath as the gale ripped through the station. His hair whipped wildly, and his body instinctively tensed.
---
"Careful!!"
"Not good!!!"
"Ahhh!!!"
The riot police and Heroes at the forefront were blown back by the sheer force of the shockwave. Several coughed up blood as they were sent flying, crashing into walls and vehicles.
Kaminari watched the scene unfold, his mind momentarily blank. If he had harbored any doubts about All For One's status as the world's most dangerous villain, they were now completely dispelled.
---
"Go on," All For One said, his voice calm and even. He hadn't even turned to glance at the chaos behind him, his full attention still focused on Kaminari. "What else do you want to know?"
"Uh…" Kaminari hesitated briefly before asking, "Does your ability to transfer Quirks come with any side effects?"
All For One didn't hesitate to answer. "Yes, there are risks.
"For Quirkless individuals, there's no problem, they can receive Quirks without issue.
"But for those who already possess Quirks, receiving a second one can lead to instability. The Quirks might merge into something new, or they may coexist. However, in some cases, the incompatibility causes the person to collapse entirely."
Kaminari rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I see…"
He paused, torn by the bold idea forming in his mind. From All For One's explanation, there were risks, but perhaps there was a way to mitigate them.
"What's on your mind?" All For One asked, his interest clearly piqued.
Kaminari stepped closer to the iron bars, lowering his voice slightly. "What if the second Quirk comes from the same category as the first? For example, if someone with an electric-type Quirk received another electric-type Quirk… wouldn't the chances of collapse decrease? Maybe even disappear entirely?"
"Oh?" All For One leaned in slightly, intrigued by Kaminari's hypothesis. After a brief moment of thought, he couldn't help but feel that the idea had merit.
"Well, it's decided. I'll have to test this theory when I get back," All For One said to himself, his tone filled with excitement.
"Don't you want me to follow you?" Kaminari asked, a sly grin forming on his face. "Then bring me a gift. Prove your worth."
All For One chuckled deeply. "I see. You're not committing yet, but you're willing to make demands."
Kaminari's grin widened. "Why not? If there's a chance to enhance my Quirk, I'd be stupid not to take it."
Whether he would join All For One's side or not could be decided later. For now, the priority was clear: secure the benefits first.
