Chapter 14: Chapter 14: A Day at the Top
The next morning, I woke up feeling warm and safe, snuggled in the huge, soft bed I now shared with Mama. Her arm was wrapped around me protectively, and her gentle breathing made me feel at peace. I didn't want to move, but then I heard the bedroom door creak open.
"Good morning, sweetheart." A sweet, elegant voice filled the room. I turned my head and saw Sophia, my eldest sister, standing by the door with a warm smile on her face. She was dressed in a perfectly tailored white business suit, looking like the most important person in the world.
"Morning…" I mumbled sleepily.
Mama stirred beside me and sat up, gently stroking my hair. "Good morning, my baby," she whispered, planting a soft kiss on my forehead.
Sophia chuckled and walked over to us. "Today is your special day with me, little one."
I blinked at her in confusion. "Huh?"
Mama smiled. "Your eldest sister is taking you to her company today. You'll see what she does at work."
Sophia leaned down, gently booping my nose. "I'm the CEO of one of the biggest companies in the world, and today, you're going to be my little assistant."
I still didn't understand what a 'CEO' really meant, but I nodded. I was already used to my sisters dragging me to their workplaces, and I figured this wouldn't be any different.
After getting dressed in a fancy little suit that Sophia had prepared for me, we headed downstairs, where a long, sleek limousine was waiting. Sophia held my hand as we stepped inside, and the moment the car started moving, she pulled me onto her lap, holding me close.
"You're going to have so much fun today," she said. "Everyone at my company is very excited to meet you."
I wasn't sure why they'd be excited, but I just nodded.
When we arrived at the towering skyscraper, I felt tiny compared to the massive building. The moment we stepped inside, all the employees stood up and bowed.
"Good morning, President Sophia!" they greeted in unison.
"And good morning to our little prince!" one of them added cheerfully.
I stiffened. Everyone's eyes were on me, smiling warmly. Some of them even had small gift boxes in their hands.
Sophia chuckled. "My baby brother is a little shy, but he'll warm up soon." She gently rubbed my back, guiding me forward.
One of the employees handed me a chocolate bar. "We've been waiting to meet you, young master."
Another one held out a small plush bear. "We hope you enjoy your day here."
I hesitantly took the gifts, still unsure how to respond. Mama and my sisters always spoiled me, but seeing all these strangers treating me like a prince was overwhelming.
Sophia led me to the top floor, where her enormous office was located. It was filled with luxurious furniture, huge glass windows with a breathtaking view of the city, and a large desk piled with important-looking documents.
"Welcome to my office," Sophia said, lifting me onto her CEO chair. "For today, you can be the boss."
I sat there, my small hands resting on the armrests. "I'm the boss?"
She smiled. "Yes, but only for today."
I grinned. "Then… everyone has to listen to me?"
Sophia chuckled. "Of course. What would you like to do first, Mr. CEO?"
I thought for a moment, then pointed at the mini fridge in the corner. "I want juice."
She laughed and immediately ordered an employee to bring me my favorite juice. "Consider it done, boss."
After enjoying my juice, I followed Sophia as she attended her meetings. She sat at the head of a long conference table, surrounded by people discussing big, complicated things. I didn't understand any of it, but Sophia looked confident and powerful as she spoke.
At one point, I started getting bored and climbed onto Sophia's lap, resting my head against her chest. She smiled and wrapped an arm around me, continuing the meeting while gently rubbing my back. No one dared to question it. Instead, they all smiled warmly, clearly used to Sophia's affectionate nature.
Later, I sat on the couch in her office while she signed important documents. Occasionally, she'd glance at me and smile, making sure I was comfortable.
"You're doing great, little one," she said. "Maybe one day, you'll take over my company."
I scrunched my nose. "Too much work."
Sophia laughed. "You're right. It is a lot of work. But for today, just relax and enjoy yourself."
As the day went on, employees kept bringing me small gifts—more chocolates, a little toy car, even a custom-made mini suit just like Sophia's. It was overwhelming, but at the same time, I started to feel… special.
By the afternoon, I was tired. Sophia noticed immediately and pulled me into her lap, gently rocking me.
"You can nap if you want, sweetheart," she whispered. "I'll wake you up when it's time to go home."
I yawned and nodded, closing my eyes. The last thing I heard was her soft humming as she continued working while holding me close.
When I woke up, we were back in the limousine, heading home. Sophia was stroking my hair, smiling down at me. "Did you have fun today?"
I thought about everything—the gifts, the attention, the way everyone treated me like someone important. But most of all, I thought about how Sophia held me close the entire time, never letting go.
I slowly nodded. "Yeah… I did."
She beamed and kissed my forehead. "Good. Because I love spending time with you."
As we reached home, I found myself holding onto her hand a little tighter. Maybe… maybe having a big sister like her wasn't so bad after all.
