Chapter 171: Terror

Terror

Aisha got that sensation one receives when they would be watching TV, and the cable connection suddenly got cut off, turning whatever was showing on the screen into static.

One moment, she was viewing Christopher's actions, and the next moment, he mind buzzed as her view of fate turned blurry and chaotic. It was unlike how fate was for the hidden realm where it was fragmented but still intact.

In this case, whatever Christopher did nearly blew everything apart, and fate wasn't the only thing to suffer.

A visible ripple went through space that grew larger the farther out it traveled. It reached a point where space started to shatter and fragment.

Unlike the blizzard, the ripple moved at terrible speeds that went to the edges of the hidden realm in moments, and no one was spared of its wrath.

More than a few creatures simply exploded the moment the ripple hit them, and others were severely injured. Some of the ships of the various clans sustained varying degrees of damage, some becoming unusable.

For the Genesis Corps, everyone was startled and speechless as, as if orchestrated intentionally, everyone snapped their heads in the direction the ripple came from.

Everyone was within the barrier, so they were unscathed, but the Aura released by the attack was something each of them recognized all too well.

The Master was fighting something.

The fact that they had sensed the energy from so far out was terrifying.

Moreover, the destruction didn't end there.

Christopher hadn't thrown that attack haphazardly. He knew why he did it. As for the reason?

He decided that he'd simply clear every entity in his path instead of taking on every single one that resided within the blizzard. As such, that meteor he called down had been enhanced by more than a few things to increase its lethality. But that wasn't all.

Using his authority as a Primordial Arbiter, Christopher did something he hadn't done before.

With authority comes the ability to create rules. He hadn't considered doing something similar in the past, but whether it was because of his excited state or his urgency to exit said excited state, Christopher did something new.

When he summoned the meteor, he used his authority to create a 'rule'. With his bonds to his weapons, he made it so that the moment the meteor landed, two things would happen.

First of all, the moment it landed, every single entity within a 10,000-mile radius would instantly have their fates restored, allowing them to exist again.

After that, the second condition was for the meteor to gain the same ability to detect weaknesses granted to Christopher by Scarlet, and the following explosion would target these weaknesses to kill each entity without exception.

It sounded simple enough on paper, but the scale of such an ability was far more lethal than what most could expect.

This was because using his authority had no energy cost. Instead, it simply occurred based on how profound his authority was. Meaning, as long as he had a high enough authority, he could continue to create these 'rules'.

The second thing was that unless one had an authority similar to or higher than his, they could not resist the imposition of these rules.

This was why Aisha and everyone else using fate within the hidden realm received such strong feedback as the strength of the attack sent a ripple through existence.

As he was doing it for the first time, Christopher wasn't able to properly control the rule he created, as such, small amounts of the damage released by the meteor bled into other aspects of reality.

That's why all the seers were momentarily cut off from fate, as fate itself was damaged by the impact.

That wasn't all either, as Christopher had enhanced the meteor a lot, increasing its lethality exponentially.

This caused the force released by the boulder to be felt by all.

Kept in mind, thus far, the only thing that had been described to have reverberated throughout the hidden realm was the spatial ripple and that alone had dire effects.

Next came the ground wave.

Ordinary ground waves caused by explosions could cause a small shake at least and mimic a small earthquake at best. Enjoy new chapters from My Virtual Library Empire

This one changed the geographical structure of the realm.

Deep cracks hundreds of miles wide and thousands long opened all over the realm like the maw of a dire monster, leading to uncertain darkness.

Sinkholes dotted the land, mountains were overturned, new mountains were created, and so on.

If anyone had been making a map of the hidden realm, the map would now be useless.

Vazar was almost startled out of his seat as the spatial ripple hit the vessels in their entourage. Many ships immediately sustained heavy damage and broke down. Most of the people in the ships got heavily injured and became incapacitated.

'What in the-?!' Before Vazar could finish his line of thought, the shockwave hit next, and while not as violent as the spatial ripple, it was still powerful and knocked many of the vessels off their course.

Vazar gritted his teeth and gripped his armrest tightly. That's when his eyes went wide and his already pale face turned as white as a sheet.

He felt the energy released by the attack, but more than that.

He felt its authority.

'But... that's impossible. How can an Arbiter be in this place?!' Each clan had deep foundations, especially the main clans. So it was not surprising that they had knowledge on things like Primordial Arbiters.

In fact, the moment he felt it, an old memory was triggered.

"Vazar, if you ever come across an entity known as a Primordial Arbiter. Whatever it is you were doing, regardless of how important it is or how urgent, abandon it and run." A hazy figure spoke to a young Vazar who was drinking a vile black liquid without a care from a plain grey cup.

"Why?" Vazar asked with confusion.

"Beings like them, they wield a power beyond our normal understanding. Beings like us, we wield powers within the confines of reality. Elements, concepts, things along those lines. We can wield them based on our talent. But them?Talent is the bearest of minimums for them. They can wield everything I just mentioned and more." Hearing this, Vazar was confused.

"What exactly is more?" He couldn't help but enquire.

"They wield something called 'Authority'. And with this Authority, it isn't an exaggeration to say they can do whatever they want. Reality becomes their playground and every being has to bend to their whims." It sounded to extreme to be true.

"But what about you master? How would you handle a Primordial Arbiter?" Vazar asked, expecting an answer along the lines of 'Oh me? They can't touch me, but your case is different.'

However, to his shock, his master whose face was obscure shook his head. Despite his face being obscured, Vazar had a feeling he was smiling wryly.

Without saying anything, his master pulled up his shirt to reveal something that made Vazar's eyes widen.

Across his chest was a ghastly wound. As Corruptionists, they weren't strangers to terrible injuries, however, they had an uncanny regeneration ability that allowed them to recover at incredible speeds.

But this wound, no matter how Vazar looked at it, the wound seemed fresh. Besides the fact that it wasn't bleeding, he wouldn't be surprised if his master told him he'd received it a few hours ago.

Yet something told him that wasn't the case.

But there was something else about the injury that caught his attention. It wasn't the injury itself, but something within it.

When he focused on it, Vazar felt his entire body shudder. His eyes went wide and he collapsed to his knees. Pure, unbridled terror filled his heart as he struggled to breathe.

When he sensed whatever that energy was, he felt like he was staring into a vast abyss that stared back at him. It was unfathomable.

"Do you understand now?" His master asked calmly as he pulled his shirt back down. Immediately he did, Vazar took in a bug gulp of air as the oppressive feeling faded away.

"That is Authority. To answer your question, maybe I could handle someone that recently got their Authority, but beyond that, and I'd probably receive another injury like this one." He looked at Vazar in the eyes.

"I sant you to commit the sensation of Authority in your mind. Burn it into your memory. That way, if you ever come across even a miniscule percentage of it, you will know to flee for your life.

'Dammit.. Dammit Dammit Dammit DAMMIT!' Vazar ground just teeth so hard his gums started to bleed and he gripped his armrest so hard it splintered under his grip.

His eyes turned bloodshot at the idea of someone, an Arbiter appearing at such a critical stage of the plan. It filled his heart with hate.

But where could one have...

'...The Genesis Corps...'
