[In the Royal Cathedral of Millis]

"Cardinal!! Cardinal!! I have serious news!! A man in a cassock ran through the halls of the cathedral at top speed avoiding the deacons and screaming in total terror.

His screams could be heard from several meters away and the cardinal looked up from the paperwork on his desk with a frown.

The door to his office slammed open but he was stopped by two holy-rank swordsman guards.

"Cardinal! Excuse the interruption but something very serious has happened!" The man in a white cassock said.

"Adolf... what could be so important now?" The cardinal muttered angrily, his anti-demon faction had been losing strength in recent years so the cardinal's mood was almost never good.

"It's Lord Couleon!! He was murdered and his entire mansion was destroyed!!" The man in the cassock screamed in fear.

The Cardinal stared at him with wide eyes for several seconds and then clenched his fists in anger.

"How long ago was it?..." the Cardinal said in a murmur trying to control his emotions.

"They were discovered by messengers two days ago, but according to investigators the event is more than a week old..." the man muttered.

The Cardinal could feel the sweat dripping from his face, the nobles of Millis who supported his cause were very few and the second most powerful had just been killed, it was only a matter of time before Pope Grimoire won the faction war, and that was not something the Cardinal would accept so easily.

"Any clue as to who it was?" the Cardinal asked.

"I-I'm sorry sir...we don't have any leads, but whoever it was was one or several very powerful magicians, in addition, Couleon had two saint-rank swordsmen at his disposal...we believe that this was a joint effort of at least 30 very powerful people" he murmured.

The cardinal remained thoughtful at this, there was only one logical explanation, the Pope Harry Grimoire.

"I see...this is how you want to play, eh?..." the cardinal murmured with a sadistic smile.

"Adolf, list the noble houses that are in favor of the Pope"

"Yes...they are the Red Sakka, the Marbles, the Pudulds, the Aladebuo, and the Latreia but those last ones are in limbo currently" Adolf explained.

The Cardinal's gaze fell to his desk analyzing his priorities, the Latreias were the most powerful nobles in Millis only surpassed by royalty, if the Cardinal managed to recruit them the balance would tip in his favor.

"Adolf, do you have any idea of the situation of the Latreia house?..." the Cardinal murmured.

"There is nothing too relevant...but according to our sources Lady Claire Latreia and her husband Lord Carlyte Latreia have recently met with Harry Grimoire in the central parish"

"That is not something comforting!!" the Cardinal said hitting the table with his fist hard. "We need something that incriminates the Pope, damn it! Our position is at stake!!" he shouted.

Adolf shuddered in fear and his mind worked a thousand miles an hour trying to come up with a plan.

"The firstborn...Zenith Latreia, we've been monitoring her activity, she currently attends the Millis Royal Academy, if we can kidnap her and fail...counting on assassins who say they work for the Pope..." Adolf muttered and the Cardinal scratched his chin in contemplation.

"How old is the firstborn?" the Cardinal muttered.

"Eh...eight years old I think"

"I see...that can work, get some mid-level mercenaries and have them wear the Pope's insignia, who's taking care of the girl?" the Cardinal muttered.

"No one to worry about my lord"

"Well, let's get on with it, I'll leave it to your discretion" the Pope said with a wave of his hand, Adolf bowed and left with sweat dripping from his forehead, this plan must not fail for no reason.

...

[Paul Pov]

"Partner!, with this one it would be ten!!" Gesse shouted from a distance, collecting the magic stones from the saber-toothed wolves.

Five days had passed since we arrived at Millis.

Flauta had focused entirely on taking care of Lilia, who had already started to accumulate a little fat, but not too much.

On the other hand, Roxy, Gesse and I had focused on doing quests, Roxy simply to have something to do and Gesse and I to level up.

It turned out that the guy did turn out to be somewhat useful, now I'm a D-rank adventurer and Gesse is a B-rank adventurer.

With his experience we have managed to finish a couple of quests in a short time, this last one being a C-rank quest

"extermination of saber-toothed wolves in the northern forest, bring at least ten of their magic stones as proof"

The quest was easy with my skills and Gesse was assigned to collect the magic stones.

"Okay, clean them up and let's head back" I muttered wiping the blood off my sword.

There were a couple of things I had been trying to do while I was in town, the first being to teach Roxy chantless magic.

But apparently it was a lot harder than I thought, since the day we arrived I've been trying to figure out a way for her to learn but nothing works.

I have tried several times with beginner level magic in the four main styles, telling her to remember the feeling when casting a spell, but unfortunately for me she no longer has that characteristic tingling sensation when doing a spell, honestly teaching her this has become very difficult, but we do not lose hope, we still have two years for her to learn.

Gesse finished cleaning the magic crystals and put them in two bags and so we returned to Millis.

"Well... here is your reward" the receptionist said and gave us five silver coins each.

Gesse looked at me with a mocking smile and I just gave him a thumbs up.

"Hehe, what do you think now huh, Paul? I told you that with my help we could do wonders!" he said with excitement as we walked through the streets of Millis.

"Yes, you were right, thank you very much" I said, patting him on the back.

Gesse scratched his neck with a smile as he looked at the money in his hand.

"So, what are you going to do now that you're a D-rank?" he asked.

"I already told you, in two days we'll advance until we reach the eastern port and return to Asura, if you want you can accompany me and my group" I mentioned.

"Yes, I would like to, but haven't you thought about whether there are more people who were teleported to Millis? I mean, Ars had hundreds of inhabitants and after all you helped those women" he said.

"I've been thinking about it... but I've also been thinking about what Couleon told me, that I had been declared dead along with my entire family... if that's true I'll most likely be accused of being a fraud" I said with a long sigh.

"I see...this nobility thing is really complicated, huh? And I thought it was only us who had it difficult" he said.

"You have no idea, I'll see you tomorrow at the same time?"

"You can count on that, see you later, mate!" Gesse said and disappeared into the crowd on the street, tomorrow I could find him again at the adventurers' guild.

"Well...now to what matters" I muttered to myself, after buying some food for Lilia and Flauta I returned to the inn and took out one of the scrolls I had stolen.

Both women looked at me with curiosity as I approached, Flauta was the first to react to what I had in my hands and looked at me with wide open eyes.

"P-paul...is that magic?" she muttered.

"Yes, healing and of saint level...I stole it from the Couleon mansion" I muttered the end.

At the mention of the name both Flauta and Lilia wrinkled their faces but nodded.

"There is no other person who should have that power if it is you" Lilia said with a weak murmur.

"Yes... that is why I want to study it for the rest of the day until I can fully execute it" I murmured while caressing the old paper delicately.

"Okay, we will try not to interrupt you in that case" Flute said and so the two began to eat unperturbed, I for my part began to read the spell, it was really long, as I remember these spells can regenerate human organs and limbs and leave them in an intact state, in my other world something like this would be totally impossible, the sword cuts that in my other world needed a dozen stitches in my previous world here only need beginner level healing magic.

Without a doubt a totally effective magic that helps humanity in an incredible way...but the only problem was Millis, those damn things monopolize the spells delaying human progress, apparently that is how it is in all worlds...

"tch!" I clicked my tongue in frustration as I analyzed the spell word by word.

A couple of hours had already passed and Roxy had already returned and gone down to dinner with the others.

"Well... I think it's time" I muttered to myself.

But the problem was how to use the spell, I didn't waste time thinking about stupid things and looked at my hands, one finger on my left hand would be fine... with a perfect cut in case it goes wrong, and then I would just glue it back on with advanced healing magic.

I knew the risks of a spell as advanced as this, if I failed in just one word the spell would be interrupted and what would be left would be a mass of mutated flesh, so I had to recite it with millimeter precision.

"Fuuuu... good" I muttered to myself, I unsheathed Sakka and placed it on top of the base of my left pinky finger.

"Ngggg!" It was easier than I thought, the pink blade cut the flesh perfectly and my finger fell to the ground with a thud.

"Aghh!!!...bitch!!" I moaned in pain as my finger began to bleed.

"Wow...good, concentrate" I muttered to myself taking one last look at the scroll, the pain clouded my judgment but I had to concentrate.

The blood fell from my finger like a fountain, I put my sword aside in case something went wrong next to my finger, I took a deep breath and put my right hand over the wound and began to conjure.

"Oh! Sacred guardian of the firmament, herald of purity and restorer of souls! May your immaculate light descend upon this wounded body!, Rebuild the flesh, align the bones and weave life where death lurks! Dispel the pain, expel decay and restore form to its original perfection! By the miracle of heaven, may every wound be undone and life be renewed! Saint Healing!"

It took me almost a minute to recite the entire spell, pronouncing the words word by word hoping not to make a mistake, ignoring the pain, ignoring the blood that ran over my hand and gave me chills.

When I mentioned the last word a golden light enveloped the wound where my arm was until it condensed and rose.

Immediately the bone, arteries, muscles and veins began to regenerate, I was expecting this but seeing it for the first time was shocking that almost made me lose concentration on the spell.

Thirty seconds later my previously mutilated pinky finger had now returned to its original form.

The pain that had accompanied the wound was now like a distant memory.

I touched my pinky to check its motor skills, it felt the same as the previous one, there was no difference, if it weren't for the finger that was lying on the ground next to my sword I would never have believed that I had just done the spell.

"I did it..." I muttered and a smile formed on my face, I clenched my fists with enthusiasm and jumped several times in excitement until I calmed down.

"Okay, now calm down" I muttered to myself and sat back down on the bed.

The spell was effective, but totally useless if I want to use it in battle, the chant was too long and needed too much concentration to perform.

"I still have a long way to go" I muttered again.

My priority would be to master this spell and I would divide it into phases.

Learn to cast it silently and learn to do it instantly without having to put all your attention on it.

But for now I can say with certainty that this is a new achievement for me.

...

But the happiness of my achievement didn't last long, when I completed the spell I went down to the first floor of the inn and had dinner in peace with Roxy, Flauta and Lilia and after commenting on my achievement in a low voice we had a small celebration with which I went to sleep with a smile on my face.

But just when I fell asleep I felt a strange sensation in my head.

"Hmm?..." I muttered and opened my eyes to find myself again in a completely blank space.

I wanted to scream and curse but I saved myself from it.

"What do you need now?" I said angrily.

"Oh?... Aren't you complaining anymore?" Hitogami muttered beside me in a playful way.

"It's no use, even if I do I'll end up following your advice, so spit it out, being here makes me uncomfortable" I muttered.

"Hmmm! You're no fun! Without me you could never have helped Flauta or Lilia and now you've become stronger with those spells! A simple thank you wouldn't hurt you know?" he said with a terrifying smile.

"Tch!... Well, thank you very much, now tell me your next piece of advice..." I muttered exasperatedly.

"See how easy it is? Now listen carefully Paul Notos Greyrat!! Tomorrow you'll take a different route to the adventurer's guild, go around to the right to the shopping area and cross the alleys under renovation, if you do you'll meet someone very important!" he announced with emotion.

"Again?... You already said the same thing and I almost ended up dying and destroying a noble house!! It's another one of those shits!" I shouted furiously but the image of Hitogami had already disappeared from my sight.

"Shit..." I muttered to myself and the next moment I felt like a force pulled me back abruptly and I woke up.

"gah?!" I jumped out of bed, I was sweating profusely and my heart was beating a thousand miles an hour.

I looked at the window and it was about to dawn, Hitogami had said to deviate from my usual route when I went to the guild but he never specified what time...

I guess I'll have to go at the usual time.

Since I couldn't sleep anymore I simply left the inn and started swinging in the street, I had never spent a single day without training and this would be no exception, the trip back home was very long and I needed to get stronger... I had only one goal in mind "the Long Sword of Light" my teacher in the Sword God style didn't get to teach it to me but I've seen it enough times to give me a general idea of how to use it.

In addition to skill and speed, balance is needed, balance throughout your body, so that the strength in both arms and legs is the same.

Unfortunately it is something I cannot do yet, my body tends to lean towards my right when attacking, I have to be focused on everything.

Unfortunately I still have a long way to go, and despite my abilities this body is still that of a child, but with enough effort I estimate that before I turn 13 I finally made it...now it's just a matter of training to stay in shape.
