Mumen Rider in MHA

Chapter 135: Chapter 135 : Collapse

Kamino Ward – Moments After the Blast

The blinding white fades.

And in its place—silence.

A scorched crater smolders at the heart of Kamino.

Smoke coils upward like the last breath of a dying city.

Buildings lean as if grieving. Sirens howl somewhere far off, but here, now—everything is still.

The wind howls through hollow streets.

There is no movement.

No sign of Satoru Kojima.

Only shattered armor. A single glove. And ash.

---

POV: Kana

She stirs beneath debris, groaning. Her body aches, limbs trembling, lungs raw from dust.

Her mother lies beside her, still breathing—barely.

And just meters ahead, where the light had swallowed everything, there is no one.

No voice.

No footsteps.

No shadow.

Only a silence that feels unbearable.

"Satoru…?"

Her voice breaks.

Her fingers claw the cracked pavement. She lifts herself with effort—bleeding, shaking—her eyes wide and full of something between denial and understanding.

And then she screams.

"SATORU!!"

The sound echoes across the ruin, piercing, aching, primal.

She screams again—until her throat fails her.

---

Rescue Arrives

There's the roar of a hover engine.

Spotlights beam through the smoke.

From the sky and alleyways, the rescue teams finally arrive—late, too late.

Medics pour in. Support heroes in soot-streaked uniforms push through rubble. One of them yells, "We've got survivors!"

Gran Torino stumbles forward, coughing blood into his sleeve. He's limping—one arm cradled, ribs cracked—but his eyes are sharp as they land on the girl in the debris.

"There!"

He runs to her.

Another medic reaches her side. Together they hoist her and her mother onto stretchers.

"Pulse faint—but steady!"

A rescue drone hovers overhead, scanning for remaining life signs.

"Where's the one in armor?" one medic asks, scanning the wreckage.

Gran Torino doesn't answer.

He looks at the crater.

He already knows.

---

From the Ashes – What Remains

The crater glows faintly with residual heat. Nothing moves.

The goggles are gone.

The armor is scattered like shed skin.

There is no trace of the man who stood there—only the void where he once had been.

---

POV: Kana – On the Stretcher

Her breath hitches as they lift her. She twists, tries to look back over the medic's shoulder.

Through watery eyes, she watches the crater fade behind her.

"He was just there…"

"He was just…"

Her voice is hoarse. She doesn't finish.

The world continues without waiting.

---

Broadcast Footage – Citywide

The camera drones captured it all.

And now the world watches in stunned silence.

Across Japan, TVs still flicker.

Phones buzz with motionless images—his silhouette, his defiance, his roar.

And then—his absence.

---

POV: Sayaka – Hospital Hall

The moment she hears Kana's scream, she collapses into a chair behind the counter.

She doesn't even realize she's crying until a fellow nurse puts a hand on her shoulder.

"You okay?"

Sayaka wipes her face roughly.

"He saved them…"

She swallows hard.

"But not himself."

---

Gran Torino

He stands at the edge of the ruin, wind snapping at his coat.

Kana and her mother are gone, carried to safety.

Satoru is not.

"You damn fool…"

His voice cracks. He lowers his head.
