Multiverse Heroes: Magical Destinies(AmphibiaxSVTFOExTOH)

Chapter 24: Building and Breaking

Later back on Earth, Marco had returned to his house, joined by Anne, Sasha, Marcy, Luz, Amity and Star, having successfully protected Wartwood from some evil robots.

Marco plopped himself back onto his couch, taking a breath of relief, "Good to be back. That fight was intense."

"Pfft, you call that intense?" Star asked. "You and I've been through tougher scrapes than that."

"Yeah I guess," Marco said. "That just took more energy than normal."

"We did wake up pretty early," Amity said.

"More like we went to sleep too late," Sasha said.

"Oh yes, that was a fun night," Star said. "Too bad it affected my day too. Imagine trying to do Queenly duties and trying to get my mother's memory back while half-asleep."

"Still no progress?" Marco asked.

"I'm getting there, it's just a bit of a slow process," Star said.

"Well, if anyone can pull it off, you can," Marco encouraged.

"Honestly, I'm kind of tired, kind of want to hit the sack early," Anne said.

Suddenly Rafael made his presence known, "Who wants food? I made pizza bites!"

"...But I can wait until after some chow," Anne said, her mind now focused on food.

"Yeah, fighting robots can make a person hungry," Luz said.

"Monsters too," Marco said. "And demons, and anything else that can be a threat."

"Sure, let's just..." Star looked around. "Can't help but notice that our group has gotten a lot smaller."

"Hop Pop's checking on his house, making sure none of his vegetables got squashed during the raid," Anne said.

"His vegetables?" Amity asked.

"Well yeah, he is a farmer after all, it's how he makes his money," Anne said. "And well...money has been pretty tight for the Plantar Family."

"Oh, you should have told me sooner, I can totally help them out," Star said.

"Thanks, but Hop Pop is a strong man with moral values, he doesn't like handouts," Anne said.

"Respectable," Luz said. "Also as for King, since Sprig and Polly were gonna stay behind too, Sprig to check on Ivy and Polly...just because, King decided to stay with her for the moment."

"Cause they're in love," Anne reminded.

"Ah yes, young love," Luz said, a blush appearing on her face, "The purest of all love."

"So they're actually dating?" Sasha asked.

"Oh yeah, totally," Anne said. "It's great too, King really brings out a nice touch of femininity to Polly."

"King is great boyfriend material, I should know, I gave him some tips," Luz said.

"Tips?" Marco asked.

"Yeah, I told him what girls like in a guy," Luz said. "Personally, if I date a guy, I want that guy to be real, not some poser who acts tough."

"I don't mind the tough act, he just needs to back it up," Sasha said.

"Same here," Star said. "A strong man that's as tough as he says he is, well that's enough to get my hormones running."

Marco raised his eyebrow at that statement, "So, you mean like Tom?"

"Huh?" Star asked, then quickly nodded. "Oh yeah, Tom totally fits that bill."

"…Right," Marco said, not fully buying it.

"What about you Anne?" Luz asked. "What guy is your type?"

"I never really thought about it, I've hardly even thought about dating," Anne said.

"Oh please, I've seen you glance at guys in school," Sasha said. "You totally have had some in mind?"

"Well yeah, some boys a cute but I just haven't thought about being in actual relationship," Anne said.

"What about with Marco?" Sasha asked, gesturing to the now embarrassed boy.

"Come on Sash, is this really appropriate?" Anne asked.

"Yeah, that was out of line I guess," Sasha said. "But still, what about Marco?"

"Sasha, I'd really rather not answer that," Anne said. "I'm content with just seeing Marco as a friend."

"Same, I'm cool with you just being a friend Anne," Marco insisted.

"Well what about you, Luz?" Sasha asked.

"Sasha, drop it," Luz warned. "Don't make Marco uncomfortable."

"I swear, it's weird being the only guy among girls sometimes," Marco said. "Where are Edric and Emira, at least that comes with one extra guy."

"They had to go home, mainly so my mom wouldn't freak out about them being gone too long," Amity said. "My dad too, though unlike my mom who likes everything in their place, my dad is at least just being an overprotective parent."

"I take it your parents might not be thrilled with all of us," Marco said.

"Probably not," Amity replied. "My mom would be mad that I'm hanging out with more humans and distracting me from the family business. My dad might be a bit more chill, he doesn't seem to mind Luz and I think he'd be okay with the rest of you. Though he could worry about you trying to court my sister."

"Just your sister?" Marco asked.

"Well he knows my preference when it comes to dating..." Amity tapped her chin. "At least, I think he does. He tends not to pay attention much, unless me or my siblings are getting into trouble. He probably doesn't care."

"Not like he needs to, I hope your mom doesn't mind," Marco said.

"Even if she didn't, I couldn't care less if it bothered her," Amity said. "Though I think she'd be more repulsed about me dating a human."

"Discriminatory one way or another," Marco said. "At least you won't let that stop you from associating with who you want."

"Plus, I bet if your mom met the rest of us, she might like humans more," Anne said.

Amity glanced at Sasha, gesturing to the girl, "Are you absolutely sure about that?"

"Wow, harsh," Sasha said.

"No offense Sash, but you do speak your mind a little too much," Anne said. "You might say something to offend Mrs. Blight."

"She's got a point," Marco said. "It's great that you're brave enough to speak your mind, but..."

"Yeah, I get it," Sasha said. "I guess I'm not always the best people person."

"It's hard to win with Mrs. Blight anyway," Luz said.

"Yeah, you'd have better luck fighting a hundred more of those turtle robots than dealing with my mom," Amity said.

Anne turned to Marcy, "Hey, Mar-Mar, you've been awfully quiet."

"Huh?" Marcy asked. "Who, me?"

"Yeah you, is there something on your mind?" Anne asked.

"No, nothing, I just don't have much to say," Marcy insisted.

"Well that's a first, usually you're the more excitable out of the three of us," Sasha said.

"Maybe I'm just tired," Marcy said. "Let's eat those pizza bites and get ready for bed."

"Well, if you do have something to say, remember we're all ears," Marco said.

"Exactly," Anne said. "But I can believe that you're tired, I should eat and probably get ready to go home."

"Can't you stay another night?" Luz asked.

"I doubt my parents would let me, it was hard enough convincing them to sleepover the first time," Anne said.

"I should hurry back to Amphibia, everyone kind of needs me there," Sasha said.

"Eat first," Marco said. "You worked hard; you deserve a nice meal. I know it's just pizza bites but, still."

"Pizza bites are pretty tasty," Star said "I can use some before heading back to the castle."

"Alright, it's chow time then!" Luz declared.

The kids enjoyed their dinner, not realizing how hungry they were until the food was in front of them and they ate plenty of helpings of food. In addition, they had some leftover soda that each of them began chugging as well, feasting in honor of their victory.

After dinner, Marco had gone up to his room and plopped himself face first onto his bed. "Sweet comfort..." He turned to face up, satisfied with what he accomplished earlier, but still had some sense of worry. "This battle isn't over yet, but we're getting there. I can't wait till I defeat Andrias and Belos, and save these worlds."

"Yo! Marco!" Sasha called, the girl stepping into the room and holding a bottle of soda, moving around in a drunken manner. "Heading off to sleep?"

"Well yeah, that was the plan," Marco said. "Dinner, then sleep."

"Might be hard," Anne said, entering the room with Marcy, Luz and Amity. "We're kind of hyped up after drinking all that soda."

"Got that right," Luz said, leaping into the room. "How's about some more movies? Or some anime!"

"Girls, it's late, can't we just sleep?" Marco asked. "Also where's Star?"

"She had to go back to the castle," Anne said. "She's going to get some sleep."

"Smart, we should totally follow her lead," Marco said.

"Not yet," Sasha said, then suddenly leapt onto Marco's lap, taking him by surprise.

"Sasha! What gives!?" Marco asked.

"Oh sorry, your lap just looked so inviting," Sasha said, wrapping her arms around Marco. "You feel more muscular than you look."

"Sasha, come on," Marco said, then felt a bottle of soda shoved in his mouth.

"Less talky, more drinky," Sasha said.

"Whoa, easy Sasha," Anne said, pulling the bottle out. "I know you drank some root beer but that doesn't meant you need to actually act drunk."

"Who says I'm acting?" Sasha asked. "Maybe I really did have something to drink."

"Like what? There wasn't anything like that in the kitchen," Anne said.

"You don't know that..." Sasha teased.

"There isn't, my parents don't keep a lot of wine around," Marco said. "Even if they did, they'd keep it somewhere safe and only use it for certain occasions."

"Well we defeated those robots, so I found my special occasion," Sasha said.

"Seriously, please get off," Marco said.

"Hm...no," Sasha said, tightening her grip.

"Sasha, come on," Anne said, trying to pull her friend off.

"Hey, get your own sexy guy," Sasha said.

"Seriously!?" a flustered Marco asked.

"That's Marcy's ex-boyfriend," Anne reminded.

"Her loss," Sasha said.

"Hey!" Marcy shouted in annoyance.

"You're the one who dumped him," Sasha said. "So he's fair game."

"Sasha, come on now," Luz said. "Don't be mean to Marcy, and don't hog Marco."

The blonde sinisterly grinned at Luz, "Oh, I see what's happening. You want a bit of Marco too."

"Wait hold on, I never said that," Luz nervously insisted.

"Don't worry, there's plenty of room in Marco's harem," Sasha said, the girl affectionally turning to the boy. "Isn't that right, handsome?"

Marco's red face was matched only by the other girls present in the room. "H-harem? S-Sasha, I don't think that's an ap-ppropriate term!"

"Wow, now Marco's practically speechless," Amity said.

"Lets see, a bunch of girls seem to like you, so I'd say it fits," Sasha said. "Well, aside from Amity probably, she probably would rather sit on my lap."

"Pretty sure I've established that you're not my type," Amity said. "Given the choice, I'd rather get chummy like that with Marco."

"Guess Marco's good at 'straightening' you out," Sasha said, earning an eye roll from Amity.

"Sasha, please get off my lap now, you're making me feel weird," Marco said.

"Really now?" Sasha asked, moving her hips a little. "Because I feel something hard."

"…And now I feel more awkward than I have in weeks," Marco said.

Marcy huffed her cheeks in annoyance and forcefully pulled Sasha away from Marco, "Knock it off!"

"Whoa, easy there Mar-Mar," Sasha said. "Gotta say, that was kind of forceful for a girl who's not even dating Marco right now."

"Well...even so, that doesn't mean I'm gonna stand by and let him feel like this," Marcy said.

"Oh fine, so much for my plan to lose my virginity to Marco," Sasha said, causing another group blush. "What a pity."

Luz whispered to Anne, "Starting to think she really is drunk."

"No, she's just too energetic," Anne whispered back.

"...Sasha, did you just say you wanted me to take your virginity?" Marco asked.

"Oh yes, I plan on making you the first guy I sleep with," Sasha said. "Preferably the only guy but I won't press my luck."

"That better be a joke, Sasha," Marcy said. "You can't sleep with him just because you want to."

"Why should you have all the fun?" Sasha asked. "I still find it amazing that you lost your virginity before I did."

"Hey it's more amazing that I got to be with her," Marco said. "I feel really lucky having had that bond with Marcy."

"Uh, thanks Marco," Marcy said, sheepishly rubbing her head. "I liked our moments too."

"Yet you let him go," Sasha said. "Such a pity."

"Be nice Sasha," Luz said. "Marcy did that so she and Marco can sort out their own feelings and be sure this is what they want, it may not be permanent."

"Which is why I'm offering myself to him," Sasha said. "See if he likes me more than Marcy."

"That's a harsh way to put it, it's not about liking someone more, it's just about compatibility," Marco said.

"See, that's pretty much what I said, only worded nicer," Sasha said.

"Sasha, you really need to chill," Anne said. "If you have any leftover energy, go for a jog or whatever, you're making everyone a bit uncomfortable."

"Yeah, you need to get this out of your system before things get weirder," Luz said.

"Oh fine, but I'll be back for Marco later," Sasha said, making her exit. "You'll see!"

Once things settled, Marco groaned in annoyance, "Geez, that was beyond awkward."

"Sasha gets like that at times, she did go a little crazy on the soda," Anne said. "Same thing happened last night too."

"Yeah, she kept hitting Star with a pillow," Amity said. "It's amazing how long Star dealt with it before blasting the pillow with her magic."

"Good thing that didn't wake my mom up, or my sister," Marco said, then turned to his ex, seeing a grumpy look on her normally cheerful face. "Uh, you feeling alright Marcy?"

"I'm fine, Sasha just bugged me," Marcy said.

"That's actually a first," Anne said. "I can't even remember the last time Sasha got on your nerves. If she did at all. You've always kind of brushed off her wackiness."

"She said it's weird that I got with a boy before she did," Marcy said. "What is she jealous that I had a meaningful relationship before her? What's wrong with me that she feels that way?"

"Nothing's wrong with you," Anne said. "You're a very attractive girl and you have a great personality."

"Do you really mean that, or are you just trying to make me feel better?" Marcy asked.

"Personally speaking, I would date you," Amity said.

"Same, you're really pretty, and fun to be around," Luz said. "Besides, you got Marco to date you, and he's a type of boy I'd date as well."

"These girls are right, I wanted to date you because I like who you are as a person," Marco said. "You're also very beautiful."

Marcy turned away in embarrassment, "Marco, you shouldn't flatter your ex-girlfriend so much."

"Seems like you still like him," Luz said. "You and Marco should totally date again."

"Yeah, what's stopping you?" Amity asked. "Not like the breakup needs to last."

"...I just feel like...what about you girls? Or Star?" Marcy asked. "What if any of you are a better match for Marco than I am?"

"Marcy, you're being too nice," Amity said. "You're allowed to think about your own happiness."

"She's right, if Marco made you happy, that's all that matters," Anne said. "He clearly likes you too."

Marcy shook her head, "I can't do that. My happiness isn't what matters, not anymore."

"Not anymore, what does..." Marco started to piece something together. "Wait, Marcy. Are you still feeling guilty about King Andrias?"

Marcy looked away, "Uh...well..."

"You are, you totally are," Anne said. "Mar-Mar, what he did wasn't your fault, so don't blame yourself for that."

"Yeah, he made his own choice," Amity said. "Not like you tried leading us into a trap."

"It's not just Andrias..." Marcy said. "Well, maybe a little. Not what he did, more what he said."

"What he said?" Anne asked.

"You know, that I got you and Sasha stranded in Amphibia on purpose because I was being selfish," Marcy said. "I was so desperate to keep us together that I did something so terrible."

"Wait, I think I see where you're going with this," Amity said. "Because you did what you did, you feel like a lot of what's happened is your fault."

"I know it's my fault," Marcy emphasized. "I know I caused so much grief for Anne and Sasha, all because I was too afraid to be without them." Marcy wiped some tears from her eyes. "I nearly damaged my friendship with two girls I love so much."

"Marcy, come on," Anne said, taking the girl by her hand. "You know I forgive you. Getting stranded did suck but because of that, I got to meet The Planters, and even though Andrias turned out to be a scumbag, you at least got to meet Olivia. She was nice. Better yet, we all got to meet the friends we met here."

"When Eda and I got stuck in Amphibia as well, Anne was there to take care of us, she made it easy to adjust," Luz said.

"It led you to meeting me as well, and I do like your presence," Amity said.

"What about the Neverzone?" Marcy asked. "Aren't you mad because I got you trapped in there?"

"Honestly, I'm very much over that," Amity said. "We can all agree that place was a big blur, any negative feelings I had are all gone."

"Plus, we did get stronger in there, so it turned out to be beneficial," Luz said.

"That too, I got to practice my skills," Amity said. "But my point is that I'm not mad and I'm sorry if I worried you."

"The other point is that thanks to you, we got to meet each other," Luz said. "Things got bad, but it got exciting. Meeting Anne was one of the best things to happen to me."

"Aw, thanks," Anne said. "I'm happy I met you, and Amity."

"And we all got to meet Star and Marco," Amity said.

"If you hadn't ended up in Amphibia, we probably wouldn't have met," Marco said. "Funny that you live like a half hour away from me, yet I only met you because of some multiverse shenanigans."

"That is kind of funny," Marcy said. "Nearly ironic in fact."

"I might be overstepping my boundaries right now, but I'm going to suggest it anyway," Marco began. "Marcy, why don't you come and lay next to me?"

"Huh!?" Marcy asked, feeling embarrassed. She's laid next to Marco before obviously, but that was when they were dating. She hardly thought it was appropriate now. "Well…"

"In fact, all you girls, if you don't mind, let's lay down together and just talk a bit," Marco suggested. "This way Marcy won't feel as awkward."

"Eh, sure, why not," Anne said. "Luz, Amity, that alright with you two?"

"Totally," Luz said.

"I'm cool with that," Amity said, looking at her clothes. "But let's get something more comfortable.

Each of them switched into their sleepwear, Marco wearing his buttoned PJs, Anne using her short and sleep shorts, similar to Marcy using a shirt and some long pajama pans while Luz used her shirt and sleep shorts and Amity wearing a sleep dress.

Marco laid against his pillow with Marcy awkwardly laying next to him while resting her head on his shoulder. She had to admit, even if it was only a day, she missed this feeling of being with Marco, but it felt bittersweet given that they weren't together.

Anne laid next to Marcy, positioning herself so that she was a big higher so she could have an easier time looking at Marco.

Luz laid next to Marco, a bit less intimately than Marcy but still close enough for her face to be close to his while Amity laid next to Luz, placing her arm over her waste.

"Wow, this actually wasn't a bad idea," Anne said. "I feel so much closer to everyone already."

"Me too," Luz said.

"So, Marcy, anything more you want to say?" Marco asked.

"Just that...I'm really happy I have such forgiving friends," Marcy said. "I know I messed up, but I'll do what I can to make things right."

"It's all good Mar-Mar, what matters is we're all safe," Anne said. "I know we still need to liberate Amphibia and ensure that The Boiling Isles, Mewni and Earth don't fall too, but I think we can pull it off."

"We have to, for everyone's sake," Marcy said.

"I don't doubt we will," Luz said. "When we're done, Belos and Andrias won't even know what hit them."

"It does have me wondering, what happens after we defeat them?" Marco asked. "What do you girls plan to do?"

"Well, I might stick around Newtopia for a bit and help things get settled but beyond that, I'm not even sure," Marcy said.

"Are you gonna go back home?" Luz asked.

"I really don't want to," Marcy said. "My parents will just make me move, assuming they hadn't left without me."

"Well...if you need to go somewhere, you can come with me to the Boiling Isles," Luz said. "Eda's teaching me to be a witch, she might help you too."

"You think she'd be cool with that?" Marcy asked.

"Oh totally, I think she likes you well enough," Luz said.

"Is that your goal after this is done, Luz?" Marco asked.

"Yeah, I'm gonna continue to be a witch, like the Good Witch Azura," Luz said.

"I might go back home, see how the emperor's defeat affects my family," Amity said. "Might knock my mom off her pedestal if the emperor can't back her up."

"Think that might affect your brother and sister?" Marco asked.

"If I know Edric and Emira, they'll be fine," Amity said. "Who knows, this could be good for them too. I'm not the only one in my family who has to deal with my mom's crap after all, nor am I the only one who had to change for her."

"Parents can be the worst sometimes," Marcy said.

"I will speak for myself on that," Amity said. "I don't know your parents well enough to pass judgement."

"No, you have my permission to," Marcy said.

"Marcy, you gotta chill," Anne said. "Your parents can be strict but they do care about you."

"Anne, my dad's trying to make us move, how is that caring?" Marcy asked.

"Marcy, tell me, you really think your parents would do that just to be mean?" Anne asked. "Your dad probably got a good job somewhere."

"I still don't think he should have just decided that I needed to just up and leave my home," Marcy said. "You know how much my life would have sucked without you or Sasha around?"

"I know it would have, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't be friends," Anne said.

"You could always calls, or use video chat," Luz said. "Technology this day and age does well for us. Better than just mailing letters back and forth."

"And even it was just a letter, it's better than nothing," Anne said, gently stroking Marcy's head. "Nothing would have broken up our friendship. If it can survive this Amphibia drama, it can survive moving away."

"Something good still came out of it," Amity said. "You got to make new friends, and thanks to those scissors, visiting is very easy."

"So even if you move, there's always a way back," Marco said. "Nothing is as permanent as it looks."

"It might still be weird, plus I don't know how my parents will feel next time they see me," Marcy said.

"If I know them, they'll just be happy you're safe," Anne said.

"We'll be there to make it easy for you too," Marco said.

"Thanks...maybe soon I'll work up the courage to face them," Marcy said.

"Let us know so we can be there for you," Luz said. "Friends stick together."

"Got that right," Marco said. "What about you Anne? What are your plans after all this is over?"

"Not sure, just go back to goofing off like I usually do," Anne said. "I'll still see the Plantars but that's it. I don't have any grand ambitions in life."

"Really? Nothing you want to do when you get older?" Marco asked.

"Not that I can think of," Anne said. "Like, what are your plans for adulthood?"

"I want to be a knight for Mewni," Marco said. "I'm already Star's Squire. Granted I've been told that a Princess doesn't usually have a squire, it still counts."

"Hey, I bet being Star's personal knight makes you the envy of other knights," Luz said.

"That's an understatement, another squire kept picking on me," Marco said.

"You got picked on by a squire?" Anne asked. "Like, bullied?"

"Yeah, some jerk named Higgs," Marco said. "Didn't take long for word to spread and the other squires to hate me too."

"That's messed up," Luz said. "So this Higgs person liked to mess with you, huh? And get others in on that nonsense?"

"Didn't try to hide it either," Marco said. "Higgs insulted me the first time we met, couldn't even say it to my face, just walked right past me and called me a 'nerd'."

"Nerd? As an insult?" Anne asked. "Wow, this Higgs dude must be really old fashioned if that's the best he can come up with."

"Typical jocks, they think they're all cool," Luz said. "When I find this Higgs person, I'll give him a piece of my mind."

"Um...actually Higgs is a girl," Marco said. "Close to my age too."

"Oh...a girl?" Anne asked. "Named 'Higgs'?"

"Doesn't sound very feminine," Luz said.

"You should have seen her haircut, that's not very feminine either," Marco said. "It's short like Luz's but Luz's hair still says 'girl', Higgs wasn't easy to decipher at first."

"And she's your age?" Anne asked. "To think that would be common ground. She must be one competitive girl."

"Too competitive, not above some jerkish insults on top of that," Amity said.

"I bet she's one of those girls who act like she has it hard because she's a girl and uses it as an excuse to put down others," Luz said. "Girls like that give the rest of us a bad name."

"No kidding, it's disrespectful to actual hard-working girls who earned their spot," Anne said. "All they have to do is act like victims of the system and they just weasel their way through."

"Does that sound accurate Marco?" Luz asked. "Did Higgs act like that?"

"Well, when I called her out for her bullying, she whined to her knight and made it look like I'm the bully," Marco said.

"So she DID act like a victim," Luz said. "Despicable."

"I already hate this girl," Amity said. "Sounds as bad as Boscha, maybe worse."

"Does Star know?" Anne asked.

"She knew but she didn't say much," Marco said. "I think she wanted to, but she didn't want to cause trouble."

"Oh bullshit, she should have put that bully in her place herself," Amity said.

"Yeah but she probably felt sorry for her," Marco said. "I mean, she even did that whole spiel on how hard it is for her to be a squire, she says that I have it easy."

"Bet she never went through what you went through," Marcy said.

"Yeah, she probably all jelly," Luz said.

"With a side of peanut butter," Anne joked, getting a chuckle from everyone aside from Amity.

"Huh? I don't get it," Amity said.

"I'll explain it later," Luz said. "Still, I can't believe you got bullied like that Marco."

"Eh, lots of kids in school used to give me a hard time," Marco said. "I'm kind of used to it. Sort of. I did try doing the whole 'bad boy' thing to get them to back off, but it didn't last long."

"No offense, but you're too nice of a guy to pull it off," Luz said.

"Plus it's so unattractive," Anne said.

"Tell me about it, do girls actually like that?" Amity asked. "They should want a guy who would treat them well."

"Teenagers are weird," Anne said. "Still, I feel you on the bullying Marco, I got bullied too."

"...By who?" Luz asked, a look of venom in her eyes. "Who would dare bully you, Anne?"

"Lots of girls, that's why Sasha always hung around me, or Marcy," Anne said.

"We were easy targets," Marcy said. "Sasha had to bail us out a lot."

"One bully I remember is a girl named Maggie," Anne said. "She was a real pain in the ass."

"Okay, so I have a name, I just need a face and I will personally put this Maggie chick in her place, along with any bitch that would cross a sweetheart like you," Luz said.

Anne couldn't help but laugh at that, "You're so sweet Luz, but don't get into trouble over me."

"You're worth it," Luz said.

"Easy Luz, don't get into too much trouble," Marco said. "But I sympathize with you, the idea of anyone bullying Anne ticks me off. Any friend of a sweet girl like Marcy does not deserve it."

"Marco, don't make me blush," Marcy said, the girl's face doing just that.

"Does that include Sasha?" Amity asked.

"Yeah...I know she's a pain but I think she's a nice girl," Marco said. "I can tell she cares about her friends."

"She does, that's why I get so angry when I think about her being a traitor, because I know she's better than that," Anne said. "I kind of look up to Sasha, she's so strong willed and that's the type of girl I want to be."

Marco turned to Luz, "You were alone with Sasha for a bit in Newtopia, and you seem a bit more confident in her lately. What's your take."

"I feel like Sasha is just very insecure and hides it with the tough girl act," Luz said. "She did seem sad after she betrayed you, it's like she really expected you to stay by her side. I think she had your best interest in mind in, in her own weird way at least."

"She just needs to learn proper social conduct," Amity said. "But I won't judge too much. I've said it before but I was no different than Sasha. Luz will tell you that I used to be a bully."

"I will also tell them that you're no longer like that," Luz said. "You changed for the better. I will admit, I do kind of miss your old sass."

"Who says I can't still be sassy?" Amity asked. "Just stay on my good side, Noceda, then you won't have to worry about it being directed at you."

"Duly noted," Luz said, winking at the girl.

"Speaking of socially inept girls...what's the deal with Janna?" Anne asked.

"She's just a girl I've known for a few years now, she hit it off well with Star and the two became friends," Marco said. "She likes creepy stuff and loves making inappropriate jokes."

"Would you say she's a good friend deep down?" Anne asked.

"...I can't honestly," Marco said. "She can be really mean sometimes, and she violates my personal space to a massive degree. She has a copy of my house keys, my bank account and my social security number. Like, how does she get this stuff without breaking any laws?"

"Uh...I'd like to know too, I don't want her doing that to me," Luz said.

"I had to make so many security changes, even that was barely enough," Marco said. "I got the most expensive wallet I could so that I could keep my money safe, which came with a lock, and she still opened it with no problem!"

"Have you ever considered telling her off? "Amity asked.

"What good will that do? She'll just get aroused by my anger," Marco said.

"She does seem like the type to do that," Anne said.

"It's fine, I'll deal with it later," Marco said. "Right now, I just want to end this conflict with Andrias and Belos."

"What about the Blood Moon Curse?" Luz asked. "That's still a thing."

"Oh yeah, I think Tom said I can go in whenever to break it," Marco said. "I think I'll do that tomorrow."

"We'll be there for moral support," Luz said.

"Thanks, I appreciate that," Marco said. "It's really nice talking to you girls. Oddly enough, I feel so comfortable around all of you. Most of my friends are otherworldly beings, so being able to talk with regular humans about this stuff is refreshing."

"Not a human," Amity reminded.

"Right, sorry," Marco said.

"It's fine, I still get what you mean," Amity said. "We're happy to be here for you."

"Totally," Anne said.

"You said it," Luz added.

"We're with you, Marco," Marcy said.

"This is going to sound super cheesy to admit," Marco said. "But, I really love you girls. I'm so happy I met you."

This got a blush from all four, each of them flustered by Marco's words of kindness.

"Well, we love you too," Anne said.

"Totally, you're the best Marco," Luz said.

"You're one of the nicest boys I know," Amity added.

"And we enjoy your company," Marcy finished.

"Same here," Marco said, maneuvering his arms to bring all four girls in for a hug. "I'm going to do everything in my power to help free you girls from any grief or conflict that you have."

Just outside the room, Sasha is heard listening in. She hadn't been back long, but she heard enough, especially talk of her. "Well, they seem comfortable together." Sasha peaked inside, Marco had all the girls close to him and each of them seemed more than comfortable. "Marco you lucky guy."

The night came and went, by the morning, Marco had opened his eyes to great the bright shining sun, his ears made aware to the birds chirping.

As he recollected his bearings, he couldn't help but notice more of a presence around him. Looking around, he spotted each of the four girls that fell asleep next to him. The one that really caught his attention was Marcy, the girl who despite everything, Marco was still in love with.

Marco still felt something in his heart that yearned for Marcy, the boy desperately wanting to kiss the girl beside him. Of course he knew that'd be wrong, and a bit weird with all these other girls in bed with him.

"Weird how I'm in bed with four pretty girls, and we're all just sleeping," Marco shook his head. "Dammit brain, don't be a pervert!"

He heard some yawning beside him. Sitting up, he spotted Sasha sleeping on the floor, using only a pillow and a blanket. The girl slowly opened her eyes to spot the boy in bed, "Wow, already morning huh?"

"Sasha?" Marco carefully got out of bed and knelt beside the girl, "What are you doing here?"

"I was gonna go back to Amphibia but I kind of wanted to sleep in a human house, so I came here," Sasha explained. "Hope you don't mind that I slept in your room."

"That's cool with me," Marco said, sitting against the bed. "So, you were certainly wild last night."

"Yeah, I was," Sasha sheepishly admitted. "Sorry I acted so weird."

"It's fine, just dial it back next time," Marco said.

"I can't lie, I really do find you attractive, but I won't force anything," Sasha said. "I know you're still missing Marcy, and you also have Star on your mind. I won't make things more complicated."'

"I will know for sure later regarding Star," Marco said. "I'm going to undo the curse."

"That sounds fun," Sasha said.

"Your friends kind of missed you last night," Marco said. "Even Luz seemed to want you here."

"They're sweet like that," Sasha said. "I really do love my friends, and I think Luz is pretty nice too. Amity is someone I need to get used to, and vice versa. I don't blame her for hating me, I did betray everyone."

"You really hurt your friends by doing that," Marco said. "Why did you do it?"

"I don't even know anymore, but I swear I didn't side with you out of convenience," Sasha said. "I just really missed my friends."

"Somehow I believe you, maybe because I'm a sucker for a pretty face," Marco said.

Sasha blushed a bit, "Wow, quite the charmer."

"Sorry, I don't want to lead you on," Marco said.

"It's fine, I still appreciate it," Sasha said, leaning in to kiss Marco on the cheek. "Well, let's get that curse lifted."

"First we gotta wake up our sleeping beauties," Marco said, gesturing behind him.

Sasha grabbed a whistle and blew loudly, startling the four girls, "Up and at'em ladies!"

"Sasha, what's the matter with you!?" Anne shouted in annoyance.

"Where did you even come from?" Luz asked.

"I slept on the floor while you lucky ladies got Marco to yourselves," Sasha said. "I suggest you all take a pregnancy test before heading out."

"What the hell kind of sleepover do you think we had?" Amity asked.

"A sexy one," Sasha said.

"...You have such a dirty mind," Anne said.

Amity rolled off the bed, followed by Luz who went to grab her phone. As she did however, she noticed something odd. "Hey Anne, you should check your phone, you have a lot of messages."

"From who?" Anne asked, then remembered something concerning. "Oh crap! My parents! I forgot I slept over here without asking them first!"

"Uh…how bad is that?" Luz asked.

"Well what would your mom do if you did something like that?" Anne asked.

"…I see your point," Luz said, handing Anne her phone. "Tell them that you fell asleep on the couch or something. We'll back you up."

"They're still gonna be ticked off about it, but I'll give it my best," Anne said, leaving the room as she dialed on her phone. "Hey mom…it's me Anne."

Everyone winced as they heard Anne's mother shout from the phone, a feeling many of them could relate to.

"If that was my mom, I'd be too nervous to go back home," Luz said. "Speaking of my mom, I gotta see Star later and ask if she's learned anything regarding that imposter living in my house."

"I still don't know why one would live there, so unusual," Amity said.

"Well I'll get to the bottom of it soon, I'm not letting anyone get away with impersonating me and tricking my mom," Luz said.

"We will get to that," Marco said. "Me though, I need to get ready to lift a curse."

Later that same morning, as the group prepared to leave, the duo of Hunter and Cloak-Bot were downtown, traversing rooftops.

"It's too early to be doing this, but time is something neither Andrias nor uncle really want to waste too much of," Hunter said. "Any sign of them in the distance?"

"Negative," Cloak-bot said.

"Dammit..." Hunter said, then grabbed his stomach. "I'm hungry too, this is the worst."

Cloak-bot scanned around, spotting a familiar face, "Teenager in the distance, identification, Jackie Lynn Thomas."

"Huh?" Hunter looked ahead and saw Jackie talking with a friend of hers, "It's Jackie. Come on, let's go and say 'hi'."

"It is unwise for me to join, Jackie Lynn Thomas is okay with robots, her friend may not be," Cloak-Bot said.

"Uh right, just stick by me then," Hunter said.

"Affirmative," Cloak-Bot said, turning invisible.

While Jackie spoke to her friend, Hunter had made his presence known, "Hey, Jackie."

"Oh, what's up Hunter?" Jackie asked. "Getting an early start to your day too?"

"I'm quite busy," Hunter said. "I just saw you and wanted to say 'hi'."

"Well it's good to see you," Jackie said and gestured to her friend. "Oh I should introduce you. Chloe this is Hunter, the boy I told you about yesterday. Hunter, meet Chloe."

"Bonjour," Chloe greeted. "Is this the one with the robot?"

"Oh yeah, where is Cloak-Bot?" Jackie asked.

"Nearby, he's invisible because he wasn't sure if he would spook your friend," Hunter said.

"Chloe's cool with it," Jackie said.

"Oui," Chloe said.

"Alright, Cloak-Bot," Hunter said. "You can show yourself."

Cloak-Bot deactivated his invisibility, "Greetings Jackie Lynn Thomas."

"It's just 'Jackie' dude, don't be so formal," the skater girl insisted.

"Apologies, Just Jackie," Cloak-Bot said.

"Eh, close enough," Jackie said.

"My word," Chloe said. "That is an impressive robot."

"Pretty righteous, huh?" Jackie asked. "You can find so many great things in LA."

"Indeed," Chloe said, focusing on Hunter. "Is he yours?"

"No, he's on loan to me," Hunter said. "He actually belongs to my uncle's business partner. They're hoping to expand their estate so to say, so me and Cloak-Bot are scouting." Suddenly Hunter's stomach growled, embarrassing the boy. "Uh, sorry. I didn't eat breakfast."

"No worries," Jackie said, holding out a tray of pretzel bites. "Have some."

"Are you sure?" Hunter asked. "I don't have any money."

"Dude, you don't need to pay me," Jackie said. "They're free."

"Really? I won't have to owe you anything?" Hunter asked.

"Hey if you want to buy me a soda later, that's your call," Jackie said, shaking the tray a little. "Gonna take these or what?"

"Thank you, I appreciate your kindness," Hunter said, popping some into his mouth.

"Someone was raised with manners," Jackie said in a playful tease. "Your parents must be proud."

"Hunter does not have parents," Cloak-Bot said, embarrassing the boy.

"Hey! Don't tell everyone my business," Hunter said.

"...Too much?" Cloak-Bot asked.

"Kind of," Hunter said.

"Wow, I'm sorry to hear that dude," Jackie said.

"It's fine, I have my uncle," Hunter said. "So I'm good."

"At least you have someone, that's all that matters," Jackie said.

"I will go and pay the bill," Chloe said.

"Sure, here's my card," Jackie said, handing it over to the lady beside her. Chloe took the card and made her leave, Jackie focusing back on Hunter. "Chloe and I were gonna hit the skatepark later, wanna join?"

"Sure...what's a skatepark though?" Hunter asked.

Jackie started laughing a bit, though it simmered down when she saw Hunter's expression looked even more confused, "Oh wow, you're serious. You've never seen a skatepark?"

"I haven't, so," Hunter said.

"Well, you're not from this world so I can understand that," Jackie said. "What did you do for fun?"

"Fun?" Hunter asked. "I don't think I had time for that."

"Dude, have you never taken time to enjoy yourself?" Jackie asked.

"No, sorry," Hunter said.

"Don't apologize to me, I'm the one who feel sorry for you," Jackie said. "What have you been doing your whole life?"

"Working, studying, you know, the important stuff," Hunter said.

"That stuff is important, but so is having fun," Jackie said. "Man, I really need to get you whipped into shape. Once Chloe gets back, we're taking a day in the town."

"Oh, he won't mind having us along?" Hunter asked.

Jackie raised her eyebrow in confusion, "Chloe's a girl, not a guy."

"...Oh...sorry," Hunter sheepishly said. "Guess it's the hair."

Jackie looked toward her friend's direction, "In hindsight, yeah I should try talking her into growing her hair out a bit."

"Hunter, we have an objective to complete," Cloak-Bot said.

"Hey, let him enjoy himself," Jackie said. "He'll be more efficient if he takes a bit of time to destress."

"...Destressing would be relevant to our goal," Cloak-Bot said. "Very well. Hunter will 'destress' with Just Jackie while I continue on our objective."

"Sounds good to me, but if you get tired yourself then feel free to join us," Jackie said.

"I am incapable of feeling tired, my stamina is limitless," Cloak-Bot said.

"I meant if you get bored, but you do you bro," Jackie said.

"Affirmative," Cloak-Bot said, disappearing and leaving.

"Also! Call me Jackie!" the girl corrected. "I really hope he heard me, that 'Just Jackie' thing is gonna get old really fast."

"I hope I don't get in trouble for this," Hunter said.

"If anyone gives you trouble, I'll back you up," Jackie said.

"Oh, I can't ask you to do that," Hunter said.

"No worries dude, I've faced off against monsters and all types of weird crap, I can handle whoever your boss is," Jackie said. "Come on, let's meet with Chloe."

"Alright..." Hunter said, hoping to trust his gut feeling on this.

Meanwhile Star and Marco were in the designated room needed to undo the curse both of them were under. In addition to the girls from Marco's house, Tom was also present with Janna, Sprig, Polly, Ivy, Maddie, Willow and Gus.

"So, this is going to break the curse?" Gus asked.

"If it goes well, then yeah," Tom said. "Now, Marco, Star, the instructions say to do the same dance you did on the night of the Blood Moon Ball, but backwards. Just let the rays come down at you at the right moment."

"Is this an actual Blood Moon?" Ivy asked, gesturing to the sky.

"Yeah, it is," Tom insisted. "Get ready you two."

Marcy nervously stood nearby, wondering how this was gonna go. Amity gently rubbed her back, hoping to calm the girl's nerves while everyone else anticipated what was to come.

"Hey Tom, can this Blood Moon curse me and King as well?" Polly asked.

"Well yeah, but right now we're undoing a curse," Tom said. "I can help you both get cursed later."

"I'd really rather not be cursed," King insisted.

"Oh it'll be fun," Polly said.

"Polly, behave," Sprig said.

"Don't be jealous because you're single," Polly said.

"Seriously!? I'm dating Ivy!" Sprig said, gesturing to the frog. "She's right there!"

"Polly, Sprig, can this wait?" Tom asked. "Marco and Star need to concentrate."

"Wow...seeing a Mewman curse get undone," Willow said. "Kind of cool, huh?"

"Is this a Mewman thing?" Gus asked. "Isn't it more of a demon thing?"

"Could this happen in your realm?" Maddie asked.

"Not that I know of," Gus said. "I never studied curses much, just illusions."

As per requested, Marco and Star did their dance, making sure to go backwards, at least to the best of their ability.

"How perfect does this need to be?" Marco asked.

"Perfect as possible if you want that curse lifted," Tom said.

Marco felt some pressure but kept it going, hoping to be done as perfectly as possible. Star for reasons she wasn't sure of, felt unsure about doing this. But both were already in deep and couldn't back down now.

Eventually the light shined down on the two, both of them feeling a strange weight lifted off of them. Everyone marveled in amazement at the sight of something amazing up close. When the light disappeared, Marco and Star just stood across from each other.

"So...how do you both feel?" Tom asked.

"I..." Star wasn't sure how to really answer. It felt like not much had changed. "I don't know."

"Same here," Marco said.

"Here's an idea," Ivy said, walking over to the two while holding a bowl. "Tell me, does this still look cute to you?"

"Wait, is that the bowl from like two weeks ago?" Anne asked. "The one with the two marshmallows?"

"Oh yeah, Tom needed it for reference," Ivy said, focusing back on Marco. "Well?"

Marco looked at the Marshmallows, ones that were in surprisingly good condition despite how long they've been out. "They look...okay I guess."

"So...no more finding them cute and adorable?" Ivy asked.

"No more tears?" Sasha asked.

"No more feelings?" Tom asked.

"...No...none at all," Marco said.

Hearing that seemed to bother Star, despite the curse, she had gotten used to the feelings she had for Marco. But she knew it wasn't fair to him to keep feeling a certain way.

"So, it's finally over, huh?" Janna asked. "Just like that?"

"Guess so," Sprig said. "Marco, Star, you two feeling alright?"

"We're fine, Sprig," Marco said.

Sprig didn't seem convinced, this worked a little too well for his liking, but he also knew that magic wasn't his strong point, so there might be something he himself doesn't fully understand. "Well, I guess that's good."

Amity turned to Marcy, "So, what now? Still want to get back together with Marco?"

Marcy still had some doubts, even if the curse was lifted, Marco still had to decide if he really loved Star or not. "I'll give it a little more time."

"...You know, Marco really likes you," Amity said. "You're a great girl to think about Star's feelings like this, but don't let what happened recently make you believe that you don't deserve to be happy."

"Yeah...I know," Marcy said.

Amity focused back on Marco, rubbing her chin in curiosity. She had to see for herself how different things were now, and she knew she'd need the help of the other girls.

For now though, the curse was lifted, but this was just a detour in their main objective to save the many worlds.
