Chapter 465: [463] Investigate
Before long, the day slipped away quietly, and night fell.
This night on Itogami Island was far from its usual calm. People with ulterior motives had silently set foot on the island.
Boom~
In a harbor area on the outskirts of Itogami Island, inside an old warehouse, a beastman covered in black fur darted back and forth. A distant explosion echoed through the air.
"Damn it, there's a security team here!"
His body was riddled with wounds—gunshot injuries.
While firearms might be meaningless against the truly powerful, for ordinary demons like him, they were still the most effective weapons.
This time, the dozen or so infiltrators who had snuck in were all dead. He was the sole survivor.
He was a member of a radical faction, sent here under orders from their leader to infiltrate Itogami Island. The plan was to wait for the right moment to destroy this so-called "demon sanctuary" altogether.
He hadn't expected to be ambushed by the island's security team right after arriving. Out of his entire squad, only he had made it out alive.
"You bastards! You killed all my comrades—die!"
Beep~
He pressed the trigger of a detonator in his hand. They had smuggled a massive stash of explosives onto the island, but since those had been confiscated, he figured he'd blow them up anyway—for revenge.
Yet, after a few seconds, nothing happened. Confusion and disbelief spread across his face.
"What the hell is going on?!"
He was furious. He'd meant to blow those jerks to kingdom come—why wasn't it working?
"What era do you think this is? You're still using unencrypted wireless detonators?"
A voice came from atop a nearby shipping container. Standing there was a beautiful girl dressed in gothic lolita fashion, looking like a delicate porcelain doll.
In her hand, she held a receiver—clearly the counterpart to the detonator he was clutching. Unfortunately for him, it had already been disconnected from the explosives. Even if it received a signal, it was useless now.
"You—you're—the Witch of the Void!"
The beastman trembled in terror as he recognized her. The Witch of the Void was infamous in the Warlord's Domain.
Even back when his faction had been at its peak, this witch could have gone toe-to-toe with their leader. And that was years ago—today, she was on an entirely different level.
"What's wrong? Not running anymore, little kitty?"
"You smug brat! I don't care if you're the Witch of the Void or not—die!"
With a feral snarl, he lunged at her, leveraging his beastman agility to pounce toward Natsuki.
"Seriously, are all you beastmen this brainless?"
Clank~
Chains of Discipline shot out from all directions, binding him in an instant and leaving him dangling from a container.
"Damn you—Witch of the Void!"
"Shut it. You'll have plenty to say later, you miserable pest. Stirring up trouble for me in the middle of the night again."
Natsuki's face was a mask of irritation. Working out here in the dead of night? Her frustration was palpable.
In the past, she hadn't minded so much. Whether at home or elsewhere, she'd always been alone, and being just a magical clone made things feel inconsequential.
But ever since August showed up, she had to admit—reluctantly—that her home finally felt like a home.
It wasn't just her anymore. August, Himeragi, Astalotte, and herself made four. Downstairs lived Beatrice, Yukina, Sayaka, Yuiri, and Shio.
Especially those downstairs—they kept barging into her space day after day.
She grumbled about it on the surface, but deep down, the lively atmosphere warmed her heart.
And yet, here she was, stuck working in the middle of the night. Meanwhile, back at home, August was probably lounging around with a bunch of pretty girls, living the good life. The thought alone ticked her off.

Meanwhile, at the Keystone Gate's artificial island management office, Asagi sat in a room surrounded by a dozen computer screens.
"Mogwai, did you already know Kojou was the Fourth Primogenitor?"
Swish~
A cartoonish figure popped up on one of the screens.
"Yo, you finally figured it out, huh, Missy?"
"You knew and didn't tell me?!"
"You never asked, Missy. Plus, the Fourth Primogenitor hadn't done anything noteworthy for the past six months."
"Wait, you said 'the past six months'—so something's happened recently with Kojou?"
"Yep, a few times, Missy."
"Dig it all up for me."
"You sure about that?"
"Cut the crap and get to it!"
"Yes, yes, so demanding, Missy."
"Shut it. You're just an AI."
She said that, but Asagi had never truly treated Mogwai like a mere AI. It was the one thing she could vent to without holding back.
Soon, information about Kojou's recent activities started popping up.
Not long ago, Vatler's Oceanus Grave had arrived at Itogami Island, and Kojou had been among the invited guests.
When Asagi saw Kojou on the screen, dressed in formal attire with two gorgeous girls in evening gowns by his side, her expression froze.
Did Kojou already have a girl he liked?
Banquets like that usually involved bringing a girlfriend or a close friend as a date.
But she hadn't been invited. Instead, he'd gone with two women she'd never even seen before.
"Mogwai, who are these two?"
"Missy, you sure you want to know?"
"Stop yapping and find out, or I'll infect you with a virus!"
"Whoa, whoa, easy there~"
Grumbling playfully, Mogwai pulled up the profiles for Yuiri and Shio.
There wasn't much to find—most of their records had been scrubbed. All that remained was their age, fifteen, and their affiliation with an organization called the "Lion King Agency."
