Chapter 397: Not A Bomb.
Jason and Goldwyn understood why Thor wantes revenge after Arthur explained the circumstances of Thor's defeat to them.
Jason nodded in understanding. Then he paused and asked, "Forgive me if I am missing something. But if she could defeat you before, how do you plan to defeat her now?"
Thor replied confidently, "I have figured out a way to render her divine ability useless to me."
He took out a round ball from his space ring. Arthur recognized the item from 20 years ago. It was the energy core that Thor was fiddling with when he said that he was going to build an efficient bomb.
He was teasing Arthur back then. But from the looks of things, it looked like he was serious because the ball was humming with a heavy quantity of energy.
Arthur saw the ball and stepped away. Jason and Goldwyn didn't recognize the origin of the ball, but they had a perception that was better than his, so they could determine that the round ball of metal was very dangerous. This made them jump away from Thor in a hurry.
They weren't the only ones who decided that it was best that they create as much distance as they could between them and Thor. Even the other disciples at the third mortal coil who weren't looking at them or saw the round metal ball sensed its danger and moved away as soon as possible.
Every disciple at the third mortal coil who was close to Thor scattered away from Thor, and some took to the air. When Arthur saw their reaction, he realized that he might have underestimated the danger that he was in. So he decided to take another step back to rectify his mistake.
Thor saw all of these and quickly shook his hand and explained, "It is not a bomb. It is just a powerful energy core used to power the runes in it. It is just a powerful artifact and won't explode, I promise."
Everyone relaxed when they heard what he said. But they didn't take his word for it. They inspected the artifact carefully to determine if it was as he said.
This time, they used their divine sense to make sure that it was safe. There was no priority to care about being respectful or rude. After all, it is their life that was on the line.
The disciples at the third mortal coil inspected the artifact from afar and with solemn faces that indicated just how seriously they were taking it. But the disciples at the second mortal coil didn't know what all the fuss was about.
This difference was because of the difference in the power of the mind and perception of the second mortal coil and the third mortal coil.
Those at the second mortal coil only see mana with the intensity of a light bulb from the artifact and think that it is weak, but those that are at the third mortal coil can sense that the dim glow of the artifact isn't because it is weak but because it has been suppressed.
Even though there isn't any significant difference in raw power between old disciples at the peak of the second mortal coil and new disciples at the third mortal coil, there is already a difference in the energy levels.
The difference in their energy levels makes them aware that the small artifact is actually heavy despite its small size. This heaviness is because a lot of energy has been packed into a small space, so the energy density of the round artifact is very high.
After sensing the carefully for a few seconds, they came to two conclusions. The first conclusion was that the round object was an artifact. The second conclusion was that if it were to explode, it could take their lives.
What Jason had said about the round object being an artifact was correct. But no one believed that it was harmless.
They didn't know if it could explode, but they didn't want to be around to find out. So they maintained their distance from him.
Thor rolled his eyes when he saw this. But Goldwyn didn't think it was a joking matter.
Goldwyn said to Arthur, "Maybe I was wrong. You're not the one who is abnormal. You both are. One of you is too strong for his level, and the other one carries a bomb around."
Thor had to explain. He said, "It is not a bomb. It was made from the golden core of a rank 4 beast, so it is very stable."
Goldwyn took another step back when he heard that. This surprised Thor, who thought that he had made how safe the ball was as clear as possible.
Jason shook his head and explained to him, "The artifact is only stable now because you don't want it to explode. If it is made from a golden core, then it can be made to explode by shattering."
"So what you have there might not be a bomb now. But it will become one if you want it to."
Thor sighed and put the bomb into his space ring. Then he said sarcastically, "There. It is gone. Happy now?"
Goldwyn ignored his sarcasm and nodded sincerely before saying, "I am very happy."
Everyone else also relaxed. They stopped staring at him as if he was someone about to take their life.
With the bomb gone, the atmosphere on the airship stopped being tense. Everyone returned to what they were doing.
Arthur tried to ease the atmosphere in their small group by chuckling and saying, "At least it is certain now that you will be able to defeat her."
Jason chuckled when he heard the joke. He, too, said, "That's true. So I was wrong for ever doubting that you could defeat her."
Thor didn't think the jokes were funny. He went ahead to explain his plan to them. "The artifact is actually an energy shield. It is a powerful energy shield projector powerful enough to block spiritual attacks."
