Chapter 331: Bombs Are Inefficient.
He admonished Arthur sincerely, "I am not a fool, Arthur. I remembered to put a failsafe in the control system."
Then he laughed so hard at the ignorant Arthur that he shed a tear. However, Arthur was not amused. His concerns hadn't been fully addressed so he was still on high alert.
After laughing, Thor wiped a tear from the corner of his eyes and continued, "As for it exploding, that will not happen if I lose control of it. It will only happen if the core engine malfunctions. But I will be able to tell before it happens, so I will be safe from any explosions."
Arthur's face fell when he heard that. He said, "So it can explode."
Thor rolled his eyes and said, "If you must be crass, yes, it can explode."
Arthur felt as if Thor wasn't taking this danger seriously. He had to ask Thor, "Do you know what will happen if it explodes? Do you know what kind of destruction it will create?"
Thor thought about it seriously. He even scratched his head while thinking. The red giant also scratched its head.
Thor figured it out after making some calculations. He said, "The explosion will have a diameter of 100 meters at most. Anything susceptible within that area will be destroyed."
Arthur asked with exasperation, "Do you see what I am saying?"
Thor asked in return, "Are you asking me to just use the energy source to build a bomb?"
Without waiting for Arthur to reply, he explained, "The energy output in the explosion will be disastrous, but it won't be efficient. Instead of releasing all of the energy at once, it is best to transform it into work with a machine."
Then he patted the red giant and said, "That's why I built my first son."
Arthur had enough. He looked at the four-meter-tall golem and the thin, short boy next to it and decided that it was best for him to leave. After all, he couldn't tell when machines were malfunctioning and wouldn't be able to escape in time.
He said to Thor, "I have to go. Thanks for earlier."
Thor said, "You're welcome. Be sure to be there to see me wipe the floor with everyone in the outer sect in the competition coming up next month."
Arthur asked, "Why do you want to go? I don't think you need the reward. You're rich."
Thor puffed up his chest again and said, "It is not about the reward of material things. It is about the reward of vain things. It is about glory. I shall fight on that day for glory and…"
He couldn't complete what he wanted to say because he stumbled. When Arthur saw this, he thought that the golem was about to explode, so he activated the divine lightning armament he was wearing and ran for it.
But everything was fine. Thor fell to the ground and said, "I'm fine. Everything is fine."
He was fine, but he was in pain. He was holding his head and kneading it because of the pain that he was feeling in his head.
Controlling the golem even for the brief period of time had drained his mental energy. This caused his head to pound as if a hammer was striking it again and again.
The multicolored glow in the eyes of the red giant had disappeared and had been replaced by its original white. The golem had also become stationary.
But Arthur was no longer around to see this. Arthur didn't stop the activation of the divine lightning armament at all. He rushed down and left the house quickly. He was already gone before Thor could say that he was fine.
Thor chuckled when he saw that Arthur had escaped. He said, "What a scaredy cat."
Then he focused on the golem and thought to himself, "Either I need to become stronger or I need to make the control system more efficient."
Even without thinking about it, he could tell that it would be easier for him to become stronger and have a stronger mind than to improve the control system.
The control system is already simple and extraordinary. It allows him to control power that is far beyond him. But unless he gives up control entirely, he will still need mental energy to control the golem.
He has 100 units of mental energy since he is in the first transformation of the second mortal coil. Even if he only expends 1 unit of mental energy per second in order to control the golem, he can only last 100 seconds.
Unfortunately, he expends more mental energy than that. Even during rest, he uses 5 units per second to maintain control. So he can only control the golem for a maximum of 20 seconds while doing nothing.
If he does more with the golem, the expenditure of mental energy will double at the very least, which will shorten the control time again.
Most of the mental energy is not spent on giving instructions to the golem. The bulk of his mental energy is spent receiving and analyzing the information from all the sensors in the golem.
This is the part that he has to make more efficient if he wants to reduce the cost of mental energy. But he doesn't think it is possible to make it more efficient because he is already doing the barest minimum in controlling the golem.
If he reduces the sensory information of the golem, he will have to give up more control to its autonomous system. But he doesn't want that.
While Thor was working on his golem, Arthur was returning home and considering his next steps.
The first thing on his mind is to attend a forging class. He intends to attend every forging class and improve his understanding of materials and their transformation into various useful forms.
He is determined to learn more about forging mainly because it is related to formation arrays. Just like formations, forging also employs the principle of enhancement and enchantment. This can be seen from the difference between super alloys and alloys.
