Chapter 330: First Son.
Thor put his hands into the belly of the red giant and began tinkering with it.
As he worked, he said to Arthur, "This is his heart. It is a pretty basic design. I copied it from a textbook."
"It is not a bad design. It just isn't unique. Very little about him is unique. Most of the design and the materials used are mainstays. The only part that is special is the control system."
The more he spoke, the more excited he became. Arthur couldn't see his face because it was buried in the torso of the red giant, but he could tell that Thor was smiling.
Thor continued, but this time, there was a touch of pride in his tone as he spoke. "The control system is complicated. I went with two approaches. In fact, it can be said that I created a hybrid control system."
"To be fair, a hybrid control system is not unique. Many people have tried to do so, and many have succeeded. But no one had succeeded with the level of simplicity that I achieved."
"You see, the control can be completely based on input or autonomous. The best control system is a hybrid of these two approaches. Unfortunately, hybrid systems are very complicated."
"That is to be expected when you combine two systems for one purpose. But I broke that barrier."
"Even though I combined the input-based system and autonomous control system, I was able to achieve a simple and efficient control system. This means that I can control things that I shouldn't be able to control with my level of power."
After saying that, he took out his head from the torso of the red giant. Then he circled to its back and touched it again.
There was a grin on his face as the belly of the giant closed with his instructions. But the red giant didn't return to normal. After its torso was sealed, the red giant began to hum.
The hum was similar to the droning of a fly. At first it was quiet and barely audible. But it increased over time.
After 15 seconds of humming, the red giant's eyes opened. Its eyes were white and bright like the crystal in its chest. They were so bright that they projected a cone of light in front of them.
Thor was muttering nervously when this happened. Arthur heard him say, "Come on, come on. You can do this."
This scene remindes Arthur of what had happened earlier. Specifically, the event that prompted him to come to Thor.
He had been working on a project, and he too had been hoping for it to work. Unfortunately, it had exploded in his face.
When Arthur remembered this, he stepped back in caution and double-checked his energy shield.
After doing this, he asked Thor, "Have you tried this before?"
Thor shook his head and replied, "I haven't."
Then he said with confidence, "But it will work. I am sure of it. I can just tell."
Arthur didn't believe him. So he stepped back again just to be sure.
His nervous heart jumped in fright when he saw that the white eyes of the red giant turned multicolored all of a sudden. But Thor had the opposite reaction when this happened.
Thor laughed when he saw and felt the change in the red giant. He raised his hands and spread them wide as he laughed.
He said with unconcealed joy, "Beyond, the work of my hand, my first son."
The red giant also raised its hands and spread them wide. It didn't have a mouth to laugh and speak, but it still tilted its head back as if it was laughing.
Its actions were exactly like Thor's. Its eyes were also like Thor's. Both of them had multicolored, gem-like eyes.
Arthur realized something when he saw this, so he asked, "Is it mirroring you?"
Thor coughed awkwardly and scratched his head before replying. This action was also mirrored by the red giant.
He said, "Actually, that's a flaw. It is not a fault with him. It is a fault with me. I can't separate the instructions for his body from the instructions for my body. So I'm sending the same instructions to my body and his, which is why it seems that he is copying me."
He spread his hand wide and said, "It is a new control system after all. It will take time to get used to. When I get used to it, things will be better."
Arthur walked closer after confirming that the red giant was not in danger of exploding. He examined it up close and sensed the large amount of energy within it. This energy made him feel threatened.
The quantity of energy that he sensed was something he had only sensed in beings like Elder Storm Hawk. This made him decide to take another step back for safety.
As he stepped back, he asked Thor, "This is a golem, right? How powerful is it?"
Thor became excited again. He puffed up his chest and said, "It has a power output of of at least 100,000 units. For many people, this is the peak of the third mortal coil. Cool, isn't it?"
Arthur wasn't happy that his suspicions had been confirmed. He stepped back again and asked, "This is too strong for you. The difference in power between it and you is 5,000 times. Is your control system so good? What if you lose control?"
Arthur felt more and more uneasy, but Thor only became more and more proud.
He said, "My control system is so special that only someone like me who can communicate with metals can use it. There is little risk of me losing control. Even if I lose control, there won't be any danger."
Arthur relaxed a little when he heard that. But he still asked, "So it won't run mad and attack everything around it? It won't explode if you lose control?"
Thor shook his head and laughed. "Oh, author. You're so funny. Of course it won't run mad and attack everyone indiscriminately."
