Chapter 28
Chapter 28. Let’s Find a Water Source (3)
“A bit… far, don’t you think?”
To go where there is no path.
The scale isn’t quite clear, but it doesn’t feel like a quick trip. I mean, it’s several times the length of that campsite. Even if there were a path, wouldn’t walking there be impossible?
“Hmm? Oh, yeah. But if we use Hirogeru-kun—”
“We’re out of points!”
“O-oh… Well, then all I can say is good luck.”
Inari-san is ruthless too.
You’d think divine power could handle it, but no help, huh?
“Seriously?”
Without thinking, my knees buckle beneath me.
The only option is to cut grass myself to earn points.
When will I ever get to drink water again?
My good mood from this morning is completely crushed.
“Ah, but, but, if you just need regular water, why not fill up from our tap?”
“Huh!?”
Inari-san’s sudden suggestion is a revelation.
Now that you mention it, this campsite does have running water.
“Wait, but—”
“Well, this area’s near mountains famous for their pristine water.”
“What about the otherworld’s water?”
“Hmm? Not sure. But that mountain’s water should be fine, right?”
What’s the basis for that?
Even if we use the tap water here, boiling it first might be safer.
“Either work hard to fetch springwater or use the tap here—your choice.”
Needless to say, Inari-san’s cheerful smile feels downright infuriating.
“Well, honestly, the safest bet is to build a log house—one with a bathroom and toilet.”
“Huh?”
“Those come with plumbing.”
“WHAT!?”
“Ah, but there’s no electricity, so appliances won’t work. It’s basically magic-powered.”
For a second, I got my hopes up. Just a second.
I didn’t catch the latter half, though.
“Sigh… Either way, we’ll have to maintain the mountain, so maybe I’ll just cut grass all the way to that springwater.”
But hand-cutting grass would take till winter. Maybe buy an electric weed whipper? Then again, that means we’d need electricity. Really makes you realize how much we relied on it.
“Got it. The tap is the one at the campsite’s water area, right?”
“Yep, yep.”
At least I have Inari-san’s permission, so for now, I’ll have to keep coming here to fetch water. Maybe I should buy a large poly tank (with a spout).
First, I should probably turn that animal trail into a proper path.
After thanking Inari-san, I pull myself together and step out of the management hut.
“First, the city office, then the home improvement store?”
Getting into the car, I decide to search the GPS for the city office and the nearest home improvement store.
