Mountain, I Bought It – Living in Another World Isn’t Bad Either

Chapter 15

Chapter 15. Being Driven into a Corner More and More

While camping in another world, I kept my phone on, but since there was no signal, I was able to enjoy peaceful days.

I realized this deeply because, on the one day I went out shopping, I got a signal and received notifications from LI〇E and voicemail. They were from my ex-boyfriend and my family.

The messages themselves were only from the first day of Golden Week, so I deliberately didn’t respond to either.

A few days passed, and I truly, truly began to feel how relaxed I could be in another world.

“Mochizuki, what’s the status on that O Corp matter?”

“Ah, um, that’s Sasaki’s—”

“What, Sasaki? Where is that guy now?”

“If it’s Sasaki, he’s off today.”

“Huh!? We have to submit the materials to the client by tomorrow, you know!?”

After the break, dealing with a senior who refuses to come to work and cleaning up after a troublemaker junior. On top of that, LI〇E attacks from my ex-boyfriend, and my days of peace were gone.

Weekdays were filled with overtime. Weekends, if I wasn’t careful, meant working on holidays. If this kept up, I might seriously break down.

About two months into this state, perhaps defeated by the summer heat, I collapsed from overwork. And to make things worse, my mother added to my misery.

[May? It’s summer vacation, you know.]

Even though it was a short stay, while I was hospitalized, my mother called me about my stepsister.

She wanted her to stay with me so she could attend cram school here.

In the quiet hospital room, my mother’s voice rang sharply through the phone.

“…No way.”

[Don’t be so mean.]

“I’m in the hospital right now. So, no.”

[Huh? What did you say?]

“Hos-pi-tal.”

[You’re lying again.]

“Whatever.”

In the worst mood, I ended the call and was about to turn off my phone when a message arrived. I usually don’t use my phone’s email address, so where did this come from? Feeling uneasy, I checked the email’s title.

[Want to buy a mountain?]

…Is this the Inari-sama?

The timing was so perfect, I wondered if someone was watching me from somewhere, and I glanced around.

“No way, right.”

Muttering softly, I opened the email.

[Summer vacation is coming soon. If you’d like, why not come play in the mountains again? This time, I’ll give you half price. I’d be happy if you could buy it.]

The fact that they weren’t forcing me to go to another world might mean they’re still a decent god.

“If they’re going to do that, they might as well make the camping free.”

Chuckling, I closed the email.

Soon after, I got another LI〇E notification from my ex-boyfriend. He keeps contacting me every time because he can’t talk to anyone else about his affair!

I was fed up with everything.

And then, at that moment, I received news that my paternal grandparents, my last stronghold and lingering attachment in this world, had passed away.

It was shortly after I was discharged from the hospital, in the peak of summer heat.
