Mountain, I Bought It – Living in Another World Isn’t Bad Either

Chapter 14

Chapter 14. Solo Camping in Another World (3)

A week of solo camping. Surprisingly, it was fun.

The portable toilet and bath lent by Inari-sama. To my surprise, even though I didn’t clean them, they were maintained in a brand-new state every time.

On the first day, starting with being shocked by the otherworldly information, unloading my luggage, and setting up the tent, I was pretty tired. After taking a bath, I fell asleep without draining the water, but the next morning, when I peeked in intending to clean it, the water was already gone, and it had returned to a sparkling, unused state.

The same went for the toilet, and even on the final day of camping, there was no unpleasant smell, which was a relief. After all, returning something smelly would’ve been unpleasant.

And the machete I borrowed from the management cabin turned out to be far more useful than I expected.

The firewood I bought was used up in a single night. I never thought I’d go through it so quickly. I could’ve bought more from the management cabin, but it felt like a waste of time and money to go back and forth.

So, I tried using the machete to chop down some young trees.

Snap

“Huh?”

It was surprisingly easy to cut through.

“Wait, what the—?”

……Dried firewood was rolling at my feet.

“No way, this can’t be right, can it?”

Wait, is this allowed because it’s another world? Is this the quality of another world? Needless to say, I was stunned.

And also.

The grass I pulled up before setting up the tent and the stones I gathered and set aside were gone. I thought maybe they’d been moved somewhere else, but the next day, and the day after that, even after I tried pulling up grass and moving stones, they disappeared again.

——Maybe this really is another world.

While I was filled with such strange thoughts, there were also some troubles, and among them, food was probably the biggest.

I had planned to enjoy camp meals, but I was also looking forward to eating out while sightseeing. However, traveling was a hassle.

Before heading to the campsite, I did some research, albeit briefly. In the end, there was a roadside station with a hot spring about 30 minutes by car from the campsite.

I spent one day in the middle of the week going there. Both shopping and the hot spring were satisfying. I thought days like this were nice, but doing it every day was out of the question.

“So, are you buying the mountain?”

“Huh?”

It was just before noon. I had work scheduled for the next day. Part of me wanted to stay a little longer, but thinking about my life, it wasn’t realistic.

I was about to return the machete to the management cabin and check out when that Inari-sama (human version) said to me.

“Ah, no, you’re buying it, right?”

“Huh?”

“Come on, a property like that isn’t easy to come by, right? Normally, you couldn’t buy it at that price. And it’s another world, another world!”

“Wait, wait, hold on a second.”

Their way of speaking was completely different. Inari-sama pressed on, and I found myself leaning back.

“W-well, it’s a great place to come and relax, but… living there permanently is a bit…”

“Why not? It’s nice, surrounded by nature.”

“Ahahaha…”

I laughed it off and quickly left the campsite behind.
