Ding! Warbat genetics detected. Do you wish to integrate?
"Integrate," Alex replied without hesitation.
Warbats possessed highly venomous fangs—perfect for softening up tougher prey. That kind of ability could come in handy when dealing with more durable kaiju in the future.
His body responded immediately.
His teeth reshaped, serrated grooves forming along their edges. Venom glands swelled into existence just behind his eyes, altering the contours of his skull ever so slightly. The mutation was quick and brutal, but it came with power.
Then came the howls.
"Oh, come on. Give me a break," Alex muttered internally.
From the tree line, wart dogs—brutish, tusked predators—came barreling toward him in a stampede of snarling maws and pounding claws.
"Am I public enemy number one in this place, or what?"
He wasn't sure if everything in Hollow Earth just wanted a piece of him, or if it was fate playing a cruel joke. Either way, he was tired. Every fight wore him down a little more—but he knew he couldn't afford to run.
Running meant leaving his kills behind. Kills that held not just EV Points, but biomass—essential for the massive growth spurt ahead. Radiation and EVs might evolve him, sure, but his body still needed raw flesh to bulk up properly. He wouldn't risk evolving into a malnourished Titan.
So when the wart dogs closed in?
Alex spread his wings and took off—not to flee, but to intercept.
"You want a piece of me? Come and get it."
He had to meet them head-on.
Before they defiled what was his.
---
Alex soared high into the air before diving back down like a meteor, slamming into the earth with a thunderous boom that sent dust and debris scattering in every direction. The wart dogs encircling him snarled and barked, mock-charging to bait him into turning his back.
One broke from the group, charging full-speed with bloodlust in its eyes.
Alex didn't flinch.
Just as it lunged, Alex snapped his folded wing forward like a battering ram, crushing its skull into the dirt with a sickening crack.
Ding! You have hunted: Wart Dog +4000EVs.
Wart Dog genetics detected. Do you wish to integrate?
"Hell no." The answer came without hesitation. No way was he mutating into something like that .
He turned his glowing eyes on the rest, his gaze saying it all: Who's next?
The wart dogs didn't back off. If anything, the death of their kin only ignited them further. With a chorus of snarls, they all charged at once.
Alex met them head-on.
He bit down, his massive jaws snapping bones. He flung others aside, his sheer size sending them sailing through the air like rag dolls. A few managed to leap on his back, biting at his scales. Their bite force was surprisingly strong for their size—enough to make him feel pressure—but nowhere near enough to break through.
His tail whipped around like a living mace, smashing into those trying to flank him.
The battlefield was chaos, but his EV points kept rising—ding after ding ringing in his mind with every kill.
Then they tried to dogpile him.
Big mistake.
Arcs of bio-electricity began to build around Alex's body. His eyes glowed, his scales crackled, and with a deep growl building in his throat—
BOOM!
He unleashed his third discharge of the day. Lightning exploded from his body, electrocuting everything within range. Wart dogs yelped in agony, flying off his body, some smoking, some charred, some twitching.
Ding! You have hunted: Wart Dog. +4000 EVs.
+4000... +4000... +4000...
The rest of the wart dogs didn't flee—not immediately. They regrouped, bloodied and panting, still snarling.
Persistent little bastards...
Then, the alpha let out a long, deep howl.
That did it.
The survivors turned and began to retreat into the jungle, but a few remained, holding their ground—covering the others' escape.
Alex narrowed his eyes. "Smart bastards," he admitted.
But he didn't give chase.
He wanted to track them. And with the scent trails left by their burned and bloodied corpses, he could follow them straight to their den.
Before that, he needed to refuel.
He hungrily devoured the fallen, absorbing the biomass he needed to prepare for future evolution. Once finished, he made his way back toward the cliff where he had killed the warbat earlier.
But it was gone.
There were drag marks on the ground, long grooves leading into the distance—something had hauled the warbat's corpse away.
Alex's gaze hardened.
"Someone stole my meal. Let's find out who."
With a low growl, he followed the trail.
---
After following the drag marks through the jungle for several minutes, Alex finally found the culprit.
It was a lizard-like creature with sharp jagged spikes running down its back and dull yellow eyes. It was lazily gnawing on the remains of the warbat he had killed.
Alex's eyes narrowed.
"Doug."
He recognized the beast instantly a —the infamous scavenger from Hollow Earth. In the movie although it was smaller than the one seen on the movie , Kong had allowed it to steal a meal and get away. But Alex wasn't Kong.
And he wasn't feeling generous.
With a beat of his massive wings, Alex took to the air, then folded them as he dove like a hawk, slamming down on Doug's back and sinking his claws into its scaled hide, drawing blood.
Doug roared in panic, trying to shake him off—but even with Alex's 240-ton weight, the creature stubbornly kept moving, stumbling forward under the pressure. To keep himself from falling off, Alex spread his wings, using the wind to balance himself as the beast thrashed beneath him.
Then he bit down, sinking his venomous fangs into the base of Doug's neck.
Doug screeched and staggered. The venom worked fast—one of the benefits of having just integrated warbat genetics. After a few more moments of stumbling and wheezing, the creature finally collapsed, its limbs twitching as paralysis overtook it.
It didn't get up again.
Alex stepped off the corpse, satisfied.
"You steal my kill, you become my kill."
With little fanfare, he turned his attention back to the warbat remains, consuming what was left—along with Doug—until his massive body felt full and heavy.
The day had been long and productive. He had gained EVs, new DNA, and experience in using his powers.
Now it was time to rest.
Most of the caves he'd come across in Hollow Earth were too small for his ever-growing size—or already occupied by other monsters he didn't feel like disturbing.
So he flew up instead, wings catching the wind as he soared to the summit of a craggy mountain. There, exposed to the stars and deep hollow sky above and below, he coiled his body, wrapped his wings around himself like a cloak, and fell asleep.
His muscles ached ,but wear already healing from tearing due to overexertion.
His bones still throbbed from earlier battles.
And tomorrow, he would be doing the same thing.
---
Time Skip: 8 Months Later
Alex had changed.
Eight long months in Hollow Earth had reshaped him—body, mind, and power.
His EV count had soared to the amount required to evolve to titan class and had exceeded the amount by thirty thousand five hundred . His radiation reserves had slowly climbed to 90 points, and his body had bulked up so much that even flying had begun to strain his wings. His once fluid aerial grace was now burdened by sheer mass and muscle.
And in that time, he'd learned that even a behemoth like him could be brought close to death.
It had happened when he'd gone to drink from a shimmering lake deep within Hollow Earth. Without warning, the surface had exploded, and coils had wrapped around him like iron bands.
A Drown Viper.
The monster had ambushed him with terrifying speed, dragging him under and wrapping around him with vice-like force. Alex had been caught off-guard.
He could breathe underwater thanks to his gills—but the viper wasn't trying to drown him. It was trying to suffocate him. Its coils constricted tighter and tighter, crushing his ribcage, and its fangs sank into his throat, cracking through even his reinforced scales. His windpipe buckled.
"This is bad," Alex remembered thinking.
His vision blurred.
In desperation, he had forced his system to upgrade his Bio-Electric Burst to Level 2, even as his body convulsed under the pressure. Then, in a final surge of will, he released a massive electric shock, flooding the lake with blue-white light.
The viper twitched and screeched underwater, its grip loosening just enough.
That was all he needed.
Alex latched onto its neck and injected his venom, refusing to let go even as the beast writhed and thrashed. He continued to shock it intermittently, holding on for ten grueling minutes until the giant serpent finally went limp, its body sinking in death.
It was the closest Alex had come to dying in this world. Even now, the memory made his stomach coil.
But he survived.
And now, finally, it was time to leave Hollow Earth.
He'd memorized the location of the entry tunnel—the very one he had accidentally fallen into months ago. With his enhanced senses and constant scouting, the layout of Hollow Earth had become familiar to him.
But there was one problem.
He was bigger now—much bigger.
Flight was difficult. Maneuverability was limited. Getting through that same tunnel now… it would be a squeeze.
Still, it was the only known way back. So, bracing himself, Alex took flight, his wings thundering as he ascended toward the land above.
"It'll be a tight fit," he thought, scanning the rocky ceiling as he neared the location of the cave.
The circular chamber greeted him, a haunting reminder of how far he'd come.
As he flapped harder, pushing through the intense updraft, he couldn't help but ponder a thought.
"I never sealed the entrance… Did anything else escape behind me?"
He paused.
Then shook his massive head.
"Nah… Even if something did, it wouldn't matter much. Not yet."
With one last push, Alex soared into the dark tunnel that led back to the surface—back to Skull Island—unaware of the ripples he'd left behind in the strange vast world .
End of chapter.
