Chapter 21: Chapter 18
Maybe dive-bombing from that height wasn't the best idea, Alex thought bitterly as he surfaced, jaws clamped around a massive chunk of flesh.
His skull throbbed, his jaw ached, and several of his teeth had broken from the force of impact. His brain felt like it had ricocheted off the inside of his skull. He had actually blacked out for a second—blacked out. But the results were undeniable.
The Megalodon he had dive-bombed was dead—its back torn open, spine nearly split in two. The water around him churned red, and pieces of meat floated to the surface. That kind of destructive power was impressive… but costly.
He winced as he moved, feeling the lingering shock in his bones. "Yeah… definitely not using that move against anything with heavy armor again," he mused. Sure, it worked—but at what cost? He'd land a critical hit, maybe kill his target—but he'd knock himself out of the fight, or worse, leave himself open to a counterattack. His regeneration had helped him recover fast, but without it, he'd be unconscious for hours.
Ding!
You have hunted: Beta Male Megalodon
+5000 Evolution Points
Megalodon DNA detected. Do you wish to integrate?
"Integrate," Alex commanded mentally.
Pain followed—but this time it was familiar, manageable. His maw stretched wider as more rows of serrated teeth burst through his gums, optimized for gripping and tearing through thick muscle. Beneath his scales, his skin thickened and strengthened, adapting to withstand even greater underwater pressure.
And then he felt it—just behind his lower jaw, along his thick neck—gills. They burst open like slits, giving him full underwater breathing capabilities.
Perfect.
He swallowed the piece of flesh then paused, exhaled bubbles from his nostrils, and turned. The first Meg was down. But there were two more.

MONARCH OBSERVATION VESSEL — OFFSHORE, SOUTH CHINA SEA
"Sir… you're going to want to see this."
The technician's voice was tense, eyes locked on the screen. A digital map showed a red blip—Subject: Black Wyvern—descending rapidly toward a marked marine disturbance near Fun Island.
The leading scientists, standing behind the console with arms folded, narrowed her eyes. "That's a terminal dive. What the hell is he doing?"
The room tensed. The feed from the satellite shifted from thermal tracking to high-resolution video just in time to catch it—
BOOM.
Water erupted into the sky like a volcanic geyser. A plume of crimson mist and sea foam rose more than 15 meters, followed by a shockwave rippling across the sea. Nearby boats were swallowed by the surge. Several agents stumbled as the ship shook faintly from the echoing blast.
The room fell silent.
"…That's new," muttered Brooks, stepping forward with a pale face. "He just dive-bombed a Megalodon."
One of the analysts turned. "Sir, you mean the Megalodons? Plural. We're picking up two more in the vicinity."
The leading scientists exchanged glances with the other Monarch leads on the vessel. The data was updating fast. Now the Black Wyvern's vitals showed a spike in metabolic activity, followed by rapid regeneration.
Then came the audio feed—low-frequency sonar clicks from the ocean and… something else. Crunching. Ripping. Feeding.
"He's eating it…" the scientist said slowly. "He's actually eating the Megalodon."
"Bringing in the DNA evolving again."
The technician nearby spoke up. "Ma'am, his body structure's already shifting—more rows of teeth, denser skin, improved gill function. He's becoming even more suited to deep ocean combat."
They looked down at the screen. Alex's icon glowed a little darker now. Stronger.
"Send this to Dr. Serizawa at Monarch HQ. Real-time updates. Tell them Fun Island has just become a secondary point of interest… and that the Black Wyvern is on the hunt .

MONARCH GLOBAL HEADQUARTERS – OBSERVATION FLOOR
Dr. Ishiro Serizawa stood silently, arms behind his back, as the drone footage replayed in slow motion across the massive screen—Black Wyvern descending like a meteor, tearing into the Megalodon with primal fury. The image froze mid-impact, a spray of blood and water suspended in time.
"To think it's developing strategies for aquatic prey..." he said, his voice low, thoughtful.
Behind him, the room was filled with murmurs. Scientists, military liaisons, and intelligence observers were all reviewing the data—growth models, behavior charts, . For the past week, Black Wyvern had dominated every Monarch briefing.
Some called it a potential destroyer. Others, a natural evolution of apex life. But for Serizawa, it was something more complicated.
"The creature is different from Godzilla," he continued, addressing Dr. Chen and Dr. Brooks nearby. "Godzilla is dormant until balance is disturbed. It acts with purpose, like a guardian. Black Wyvern... it behaves like a wild apex predator. Not hostile, but like any predator, hunt, eat, sleep repeat.
"Sir," said Dr. Brooks, glancing up from a tablet, "the governments are pressing again. They're demanding a preemptive strike. The footage from San Francisco and now Fun Island has them on edge."
Serizawa didn't respond immediately. He stepped closer to the screen, watching the moment Alex surfaced from the ocean—his body bloodied from the blood of the Megalodon, his mouth filled with it's flesh. There was no malice in those eyes just a predator hunting it's prey.
"I oppose any rash action," he said firmly. "Just like before. If we provoke it,it will retaliate and due to how fast it's growing we don't want it holding grudges".
Dr. Chen nodded. "There's also the behavioral pattern. It's gone out of its way to avoid populated airspace. Its current flight path is a wide arc over the Pacific. Minimal land crossings."
"Then it's not trying to provoke," Serizawa said, almost to himself. "It's migrating… maybe searching. Or preparing."
He turned to Brooks.
"Do we have a predicted destination?"
"Nothing confirmed," Brooks admitted. "But based on the direction… it could be headed toward Skull Island."
That got a few looks. Chen exhaled slowly.
"Skull Island is already dangerous enough If Black Wyvern is heading there and worse that place is protected by its king "Kong" the giant Ape.
Serizawa's eyes remained fixed on the screen.
"Then we'll be watching very closely. A confrontation is bound to happen , Kong won't allow a predator like him to roam freely on his island and due to how plentiful prey is ok skull island I doubt that black wyvern will back down even when he is outmatched, the risk exceeds the rewards and Kong has no way of stopping it when it wants to escape".
Jonas swam with all the strength he could muster, arms slicing through the water as he aimed for the small rocky outcrop jutting out of the sea. His jet ski had been lost to the earlier explosion, and now survival meant reaching solid ground.
But he wasn't alone in the water.
A deep, rumbling current surged behind him. He turned his head just enough to see it: a Megalodon, its massive form slicing through the ocean with terrifying speed, its jaws opening wide, rows of jagged teeth gleaming beneath the surface.
"Shit," he cursed, panic lighting a fire in his veins.
He kicked harder, faster—but he was still too far.
The Meg closed in. The water began to churn violently. Jonas turned around and braced himself to evade.
Then—
Boom!
From beneath, a black blur rocketed upward with terrifying speed. It was Alex, the Black Wyvern.
He slammed into the Megalodon like a missile, his powerful jaws clamping down on its belly. The two titanic creatures crashed back into the ocean with a thunderous splash, a towering wave erupting from the impact and surging outward.
Jonas was caught in the wake, the wave lifting and tossing him like driftwood.
But instead of being dragged under, the water pushed him toward the very outcrop he had been desperately trying to reach. He slammed against the rocks, coughing, soaked—but alive.
He looked back, eyes wide, as the sea frothed and bubbled red where the two giants had vanished.
With the Megalodon preoccupied behind him, Jonas turned toward the island—only to freeze.
Thick, writhing tentacles were rising from the waves, black and glistening, snatching screaming survivors who were to close to the coast and dragging them beneath the surface. One grabbed a woman mid-sprint from the shallows, yanking her down before her scream even reached its peak. Another curled around a raft, crushing it like paper.
Jonas's eyes widened.
"What the hell now…"they weren't only dealing with the megs now there was a giant octopus on the mix now.
He hesitated for only a second. People were still out there, and if that thing kept going, no one would make it out alive.
With one last glance behind him—where Alex wrestled the Megalodon in the water—Jonas clenched his jaw, then dove back into the water, swimming hard toward the island.
Whatever was happening here, it had just gotten a whole lot worse.
