monster verse:Gene Evolution

Chapter 20: Chapter 17

After much deliberation I have decided to continue with the fanfic and see it to the end but I have a new idea about writing another fanfiction about the Monster verse but with a different setting, different character ,malevolent one ,should I write it. Let me know by commenting anyways here is chapters 17.

The next morning, Alex awoke energized. His wings stretched wide, casting a massive shadow over the shattered dome of the avian enclosure. The sun had just begun its climb across the sky, its golden rays glinting off his obsidian-black scales.

Today was the day.

Skull Island.

He'd made up his mind the moment he woke up. It was time to go there—to see if the King of the Hollow Earth was real, and to test his limits against a place said to be a cradle of monsters.

But this journey wouldn't be short.

To avoid drawing attention from the humans—or worse, flying over civilian landmasses—he'd need to take a longer, safer path. That meant a route over the open ocean. He mapped it out in his mind:

> Isla Nublar → Pacific Ocean → Philippine Sea → Skull Island

The distance was enormous.

Even with his upgraded wings and stamina, it would take a full day of nonstop flying. Maybe more. His wings could carry him far, but eventually, he'd have to rest—probably somewhere over the vast emptiness of the sea. At most, it would take a day and a half.

Alex gave the island one last look—his territory, for now—and with a powerful flap of his wings, took to the sky, leaving behind a storm of wind and dust.

The ocean awaited.

--

Alex soared high above the endless stretch of ocean, gliding through cloud layers and doing aerial maneuvers to refine his flying instincts. Barrel rolls, steep dives, and sudden turns helped him get a feel for his wyvern-like body—though he was getting used to flight, there was still much to master.

But after an hour of acrobatics, boredom crept in. And fatigue.

Despite his regenerative power and stamina, he knew this wasn't a game. He still had a long way to Skull Island, and burning energy now would only cost him later.

So, he stilled his wings, catching the wind like a massive, gliding predator. Quiet. Focused.

Meanwhile – Fun Island

Chaos.

Fun Island—once a tourist haven—had turned into a nightmare.

The Megalodons had broken free, having escaped the thermocline after an explosion triggered by Monte to hide his actions. The blast punched a hole into the barrier separating the deep trench from the upper ocean. Now, the ancient beasts had surged upward, breaching into the open waters and causing carnage along the coast.

Screams echoed as tourists were dragged beneath the waves, boats overturned, and blood dyed the shoreline.

In the distance, more trouble brewed—the Snappers were also loose, hunting in the forests and hills of the island. With predators on land and in the sea, it was a massacre.

Jonas Taylor, riding a jetski carrying improvised harpoons with makeshift explosives attached to them, did everything he could to lure the Megs away from the beach. He zipped across the surf, roaring toward danger to buy time for the others to flee.

Elsewhere, Jiuming and Mac, who had been seeing off Jonas with the only jetski they had, paused for just a moment as something caught their eyes.

Far above the chaos.

A dot in the sky.

It wasn't moving like a plane.

It seemed to be flying but the way birds do which is by flapping.

And it was heading towards them, fast.

Mac squinted. "What the hell is that?"

Jiuming frowned, following the distant silhouette. "No idea… but it's flying. Not with jets—like a bird."

They didn't have time to dwell on it.

"Come on," Jiuming said, tugging Mac's shoulder. "We need more firepower. Whatever that is, it's not our priority right now."

But Jonas, closer to the shape than the others, could see more details. Wings. Huge wings. Not feathers—but leather-like membranes. He blinked as it passed between clouds.

Massive. Silent. Inhuman.

"What the f—?" Jonas muttered, stunned. "Is that a… dragon?"

He couldn't believe his eyes, where was something like this even coming from ,if it was also hostile things would get messy although it was still far away he could already see how massive it is,even bigger than the megs.

He couldn't help but worry about his friends safety back at the island especially meeting. He had to finish up the megs and has back to the island fighting against something that big and with it having so many advantages was impossible but maybe he could buy his friends some time to escape .maybe even for twenty seconds before getting eaten?

---

Jonas was still contemplating his next move, heart pounding as he led the Megs away from the beach, when a sharp whistling sound cut through the roar of the ocean and engine.

He glanced up—and his eyes widened in disbelief.

Descending from the sky like a missile was the Black Wyvern, its massive body folded into a streamlined dive, wings tucked, eyes locked on the lead Megalodon right behind him.

"Oh, shit!" Jonas cursed, slamming the throttle to max as the jet ski tore across the water, desperate to escape what he now knew would be a watery explosion. A creature of that size—diving at that speed—was going to displace a lot of water, and Jonas had no intention of being caught in the epicenter.

Meanwhile, Alex roared silently through the air, wind screaming past his ears. His eyes stayed locked on the Megalodon below—huge and fast. He felt adrenaline surge, but also braced himself.

He knew this was going to hurt.

Even with his Level 3 armored scales, the force of the impact would travel through every bone in his body his scales would transmit the force throughout his body. But this was a test—a high-risk, high-reward strike he might one day need to use against even greater threats.

Then—

CRASH!

Alex slammed directly into the lead Megalodon with thunderous force, driving it deep into the ocean. Water exploded upward, swirling around the impact point in a whirlpool that lasted barely a heartbeat before a geyser of seawater and blood erupted nearly fifteen meters into the air.

The sea roared in protest.

A monstrous shockwave surged out, and a towering wave followed it—sweeping across the surface like an aquatic avalanche.

Jonas, still escaping at full throttle, glanced back only to see the wave bearing down on him.

"Dammit!"

The wave slammed into him with raw fury, lifting the jet ski before flipping it like a toy. Jonas was flung into the air and then crashed into the water with a painful splash, swallowed by the chaos.

---

The wave didn't stop.

It surged toward the island like a living wall of water, sweeping across the shallows and dragging away anyone still unfortunate enough to be in the sea. Screams echoed along the beach as chaos unfolded—again.

Meanwhile, deeper inland, Mac and Jiuming crouched low behind a storage container, still debating how to make it to the helicopter without alerting the snappers. They were just about to move when—

BOOM!

The explosion rocked the air like a cannon shot. Both men flinched and turned instinctively toward the source—only to see a geyser of seawater erupt high into the sky, followed moments later by a monstrous wave rushing toward the island.

Jiuming's jaw dropped. "What the hell was that?!"

Mac blinked. "That wasn't—was that one of Jonas's harpoons?!"

Jiuming looked genuinely alarmed. "I told you those improvised explosives were going to get us killed."

Mac squinted at the ocean, the wave still ripping through boats and slamming into the beach. "Well, whatever it was scared off those damn snappers."

Jiuming nodded. "Then this is our shot. Let's grab the chopper before something worse shows up."

They both bolted for the helicopter, using the moment of chaos as cover—unaware that what caused the explosion was not Jonas's weapon… but something far, far bigger.
