Hiss!
720 EXP for just the goblin warrior!
Yone took a deep breath as he understood why the experience of killing the goblin wasn't immediately received. His heart raced with excitement." If I keep this pace up, I can reach level 10 in about a day or two, maybe before, if my quest gives way more experience than anticipated."
Hum!
With the sound effect of leveling up, Yone broke through level 3 and reached level 4 with 1020 EXP, having almost half the EXP required to level up to 5 in just three hours of the game's launch.
Yone was about to leave when another system notification rang in his ears and a panel appeared before him.
System: Give the mysterious box to the Mayor and tell him about the details of your quest.
No rewards.
Time Limit: Three hours.
Yone raised an eyebrow at the time limit, not understanding the reason, but he still didn't find much difference in it. He wasn't going to wait anyway, and he planned to give the quest back after doing some business down the lake's shore.
Alas, right before he was about to leave again an urgent system notification sounded in his ears once more.
System Notification: An external event has been detected. Would you like to log off and respond to it or ignore it?
Yone was dumbfounded as he read the message from the system. He was 100% confident that no one had visited him during the first ten days of the game's launch, much less right at the very beginning of the game.
An external event only meant that someone either called him, knocked on his door, or was trespassing with ill intentions.
Wary of the situation, he still waved his hand and pressed the button to log off.
Back in his room, Yone slowly removed the helmet, retrieved the gun from under his pillow, and stood without making as much noise as possible. His apartment was ordinary, worth 300 dollars a month. He had made this decision because his work was far closer to here, making him move from his parents' house.
'Phew! If not for the helmet's special effects, something bad might have happened, Yone breathed a sigh of relief as he thanked the helmet designer.
The helmet designer, except for the fact that it was a link to Eclipse Online. It had more functions than that. One of them is being able to perceive phone calls, doorbell ringing, knocking, or any sort of sound in the house and immediately inform the player to take immediate action.
This system ensured players wouldn't get killed out of nowhere, robbed, or even worse.
"Yone! are you here?! Open up you lazy pig," The door was almost about to break from the intensity of the force behind the knock, but instead of worrying, Yone hid the gun in the kitchen and laughed aloud.
"Of course, who else could it be except you, parrot? I'm coming, wait! " he yelled as he pretended to be far away. Inwardly, however, his expression was ugly. 'Such a long time no see, childhood sweetheart and my ex-girlfriend. Amy'
He chuckled but didn't dwell much on the matter. Refocused, he smiled, went to the door, and opened it." Amy, I have many times told you to call me before choosing to come over here. I have many things to do and..."
"Yes, yes, yes, it's always the same. You are busy with this, you are busy with that, and you never have any time for me," Amy pushed the door open and went inside, making the apartment her place.
She darted her eyes around the apartment, a slight frown attached to her face for a split second before it returned to normal.
'You see, I took that advice before, but it didn't end well,' he thought. On the outside, he replied casually," What do you want by coming here? Are you in need of money? I don't have much."
Amy had strikingly long white hair cascading down her waist and vibrant red eyes accentuating her delicate features. Despite her breathtaking beauty, she was in the same house as Yone, which is something any sane human being would be beyond shocked to see if they were here.
Amy sat down on the sofa facing the TV and crossed her legs, her short black skirt almost failing to conceal the upper part of her legs.
Yone clenched his jaw as Amy casually sat on his sofa with his hand tapping on his leg. He was nervous but could hardly control it, given the sudden situation.
"Come again? Hahaha, we both know that you are broke. I'll never visit you if it's about money, so rest assured about that point." Her delicate white hand caressed his cheek as she teasingly said," Have you forgotten who I am?"
Yone pushed it down and said, in a serious tone, his voice cold," I don't have time for mind games, Amy. Just tell me what you want so I can go back to the work I have to do."
Amy felt goosebumps run over her body, and her eyes widened momentarily. Something was different about Yone, and her gut, after knowing him for more than fifteen years, told her so, but she quickly brushed it off as lack of sleep.
'Did I just imagine that? Yes, it can't be that this weak-willed man changed all of a sudden, he is still running after me now and forever.'
Amy started sobbing, hearing his words, her voice shaky and body trembling," Why are you acting this rude to me? We have always been close, so why are you acting like this? You have known me for this long and know how I act, you are the only one who knows so yet you yell at me and try to dismiss me as fast as possible."
'Even if something is up, I can just soften him up a little again. It wasn't hard before, and it surely won't be hard now,' she thought, mused by her acting skills.
'Drama queen mode enabled,' Yone thought with a sigh. Still, this was not the time to break everything down.
For a brief moment, Yone wanted to hug Amy and cry on her shoulders. A part of him truly wanted to believe she cared about his attitude. Deep down, however, he knew this was merely acting. He had already seen how this story had once ended, which wasn't pleasant for him.
The girl undoubtedly treated him badly and cast him away after drying him clean, and he knew that acting based on emotions and small gains was never worth it. And Yone will make sure to return the favor tenfold!
Revenge is better served cold, and Yone will make sure to serve it freezing!
