Chapter 159 Interstellar Travel_2
After entering the bedroom, Tilan sat down on the bed and lay there, her smooth long hair spread across the sheets as she looked at the ceiling. Suddenly, she remembered something and stood up to search for the remote control device by the bed.
With a simple adjustment, the ceiling became faintly transparent, revealing the view of the starry sky outside, as if parting the clouds.
At this moment, the starship had already slowly left the Star Harbor and then began high-speed travel. It was expected that after leaving a safe distance from the planet, it would start to enter the super-temporal jump.
Wondering which mode of travel it would be, the girl guessed it would probably be the high-dimensional transition through the Aijieka Sea, then entering other Star Domains. This was currently the fastest known method for humans to cross interstellar distances, but it also placed stringent demands on the starship and its passengers. Most people could not withstand this great burden.
"The starship has entered sub-light speed travel status and is gradually ascending dimensions. It is expected to enter the Aijieka Sea in 7 hours, 11 minutes, and 31 seconds. Please prepare by entering the safe cabins in 6 hours and 40 minutes," announced the voice emanating from the wall, which then fell silent as the starship proceeded on its regular journey.
Lying on the bed, Tilan gazed at the vast expanse of stars above her head, and her mind unwittingly filled with a sense of emptiness and distance. Since leaving Jade Skirt, it seemed as if everything from her past rapid was quickly receding from her, creating a sense of psychological temporal and spatial distance.
Reality indeed influences psychological feelings, she thought and then closed her eyes, slowly easing into a restful doze.
For a solitary long journey, she seemed innately accustomed, showing no signs of difficulty sleeping.
After a quiet nap of one and a half hours, Tilan slowly awoke and checked the time. It was now 3 PM, with one hour remaining until dinner. Discover stories at My Virtual Library Empire
After sitting up, Tilan didn't feel like sleeping any longer, so she picked up her personal terminal, opened a book she had wanted to read but never had the time for, and began to peruse it slowly.
The book was a gift from Lady Heather, telling stories of the landscapes and tales of the distant Wind Dew Grass Star Domain.
The Star Domain was named Wind Dew Grass because the residing planets within it had unique landscapes, vast lands with sparse population, few residents, and extremely wide prairies.
Although the economy of the Wind Dew Grass Star Domain was average, without any high value-added products, the residents living there had a high happiness index and a particularly tranquil and leisurely pace of life.
Because it was removed from the hustle and bustle of other Star Domains of the Federation, the Wind Dew Grass Star Domain gradually became a legend on the Federation's starnet. It was generally said that if you are unhappy with life or want to escape from the world, you should travel there and wander around.
As she flipped through the stories in the book, time passed without her realizing, and by the time Tilan came back to her senses, it was already past 4 PM.
It was time to eat something, or else she wouldn't be able to eat once they entered the Aijieka Sea later in the evening.
She sat up and thought for a while before deciding to order her meal rather than go to the dining hall.
Soon, the selected dinner arrived: a plate of poached chicken paired with parsley and pumpkin rice cakes.
She couldn't eat too much; otherwise, it would be troublesome to need the bathroom once in the safe cabin, the young girl remembered the guidance given.
After finishing her meal, a chime sounded throughout the starship, notifying passengers and crew members again that in 2 hours and 48 minutes, they would enter the Aijieka Sea.
Having cleared away the mealware, Tilan continued reading for a while and then took another short nap.
So it went until the evening when the third chime sounded.
Following the instructions, she left her room and was greeted by two priestess sisters who had been waiting to escort her to the specialized safety cabin. This room, fortified all around, was located in the thickly armored protection in the middle of the starship. Once inside the safety cabin, the young priestesses flanked her on both sides as she lay down, and then the cabin lid gradually closed while a final announcement played within the starship.
Lying on the soft cushion inside the cabin, Tilan began to feel a sense of dizziness and an illusion of soul separation, as if her body and consciousness were experiencing a misalignment and disconnection. Thankfully, this feeling did not last long. As a special glow lit up inside the safety cabin, everything stabilized again.
This must be the entry into the Aijieka Sea, she thought, looking at the environment outside the safety cabin, where everything appeared like twisted images, full of afterimages.
"How do you feel, Tilan?" one of the priestess sisters asked her.
"It's okay."
"The first time can be disorienting, you'll get used to it gradually," another priestess comforted her.
Then, the three of them lay in the safety pod, watching time slowly pass until a few minutes later, a slight jolt and dizziness occurred.
"The starship has left the Aijieka Sea. All passengers and crew, please wait five minutes before leaving the safety pod."
"Countdown starting..."
...
"The starship has entered a stable cruising status; you may now leave the safety pod."
Afterward, the light blue transparent cover of the safety pod slowly opened, and two priestesses helped Tilan out.
"We should now have reached the periphery of the Floral Crown Star Domain, Tilan. You can walk around the starship, and we will be landing in a few hours."
"So soon?" the girl blinked, taken aback.
"Yes, this 'Spectra Wing' class starship is among the few capable of swiftly traversing the Aijieka Sea. If it were an ordinary superspace spaceship, it would be much slower because they are inherently two different modes of travel."
Accompanying the two priestesses to the observation window inside the starship, Tilan peered through the thick transparent metal glass, seeing the distant Stellar System. It was like looking at the horizon during polar night in the Arctic: though a hint of gold was visible, the night sky remained pitch black.
"Inside the Floral Crown Star Domain, there are fortress-like special planets, which are modifications based on the heritage of the Transcenders' era. Their defense capabilities are extremely strong. The entire planet is a massive planetary fortress and battle machine, with special stable zones inside that can isolate many world-ending attacks."
While speaking, one priestess raised her hand, pointing towards a tiny silver speck in the distance.
As the image zooming in, Tilan could see the scenery on that planet.
The entire planet was covered in silver interlacing orbits, with some orbits and hanging boxes growing all sorts of flowers and trees. By adjusting the combinations, they could quickly form different landscapes. However, a closer examination would reveal countless Autonomous Units hidden beneath the beautiful botanical vista, mostly in a dormant state, folded up like stacks of boxes forming the ground and skyscrapers. But once awakened, they would become a shroud of killing units, blotting out the sun.
Moreover, the planet's interior constantly stored a large volume of modular materials and mechanisms that could be quickly assembled into fleets of starships as needed.
As the power nexus and military core of the entire Rose Federation, this planet was undeniably qualified: it was solemn, dignified, powerful, violent, and more.
Perhaps to conceal the threatening atmosphere, the surface was covered in various flowers and plants, like a crown woven of blossoms. Although it looked beautiful, it firmly represented the Rose Federation's ultimate power, beyond question.
After traveling for about five hours, the starship gradually approached this planet, then descended vertically and landed on a pale golden platform.
When the doors of the five starships opened, a group of priests and accompanying officials stepped out and then gathered at the central exit.
"Did you have a comfortable journey, Tilan?" the High Priest, with his ash-blonde hair nearing white, asked the girl.
"It was comfortable, thank you for your concern," the girl nodded.
"Good, follow me then," he said reassuredly and then gestured, leading Tilan out of the Star Harbor onto the main thoroughfare.
Here, they saw hover cars of various sizes swiftly yet orderly shuttling by, while the streets were nearly devoid of pedestrians, only populated by government officials at work.
They were the brain cells of this vast Federation, each of them compiling and integrating information reported from various Star Domains, sorting it out and passing it to the departments behind them, like an assembly line, dealing with requests or proposals from all Star Domains.
While individually they seemed almost pointless and insignificant, when all the employees on this planet were brought together, it formed the brain of the country, harmonizing numerous problems, issuing orders, recording feedback, and ultimately ensuring the nation's survival.
