Chapter 159: Interstellar Travel
"This is Jade Skirt No. 2 Spaceport. In the upcoming time slot from 11:12 to 11:40, we will be temporarily under regulation, suspending the landing and take-off of spaceships and shuttles. Please rest for a while, passengers, and wait momentarily."
Walking on the silver metallic floor, Tilan couldn't help looking around. This was her first time leaving the planet below and entering space.
There are three spaceports surrounding Jade Skirt, and No. 3 Spaceport is usually not operational, being kept in reserve and for rotation. The one she was in now was the busiest—No. 2 Spaceport, where through the giant floor-to-ceiling windows nearby, one could see the distant starry sky and the spaceships coming and going now and then.
"Is this your first time here, Tilan?" Seeing her freshness, the Priestess who was guiding and protecting Tilan asked with a smile.
"Yes, it's my first time."
"No wonder. The first time I went into space, I was about seven years old. I also wouldn't leave the floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the huge and azure planet below. I still remember that sight to this day; it was very impressive." She said, reminiscing while holding her tin staff in one hand and brushing the hair in front of her with the other.
"You went into space at seven? Wasn't that unsafe?" The girl remembered that the textbooks said superluminal travel imposed a great burden on people, and one had to be at least Sequence 2 to do it.
"Not really, because that was a trip within the Stellar System, and the process was quite mild."
"The Stellar System I lived in as a child had two habitable planets. Since they were not far apart, one could travel to the other planet for a visit." She explained the difference.
While the two were chatting, six fully armed warriors came striding over quickly. They stopped in formation, and then a captain reported.
"The Star Harbor connection port has been checked. You can board the ship; please follow me."
"Then let's set off, Tilan." The Priestess accompanying them nodded at the girl, and then they protected Tilan in the middle with four on either side, while the warriors escorted them, entering the opened airlock entrance beside them.
Standing on the special magnetic floor without having to move, the group was conveyed along the track in the long corridor. This was a long arm corridor within the Star Harbor, and through the transparent metallic glass on both sides of the corridor, one could see the medium-sized Starship docked outside. The ship's body was slender, shimmering with white dots on its surface, and its shape was like folded wings, imbued with a sense of divine grace.
The 'Spectra Wing' class special Starship was less aggressive, but it had excellent defense and could perform various modes of superluminal travel. Ordinary warships found it very hard to track its trail, often serving to protect special individuals and objectives and as high-end vessels for interstellar travel.
"This is the place."
When the group reached the connection port of the Starship, the track floor stopped, and then the sealed specialized steel doors unlocked and slid open to both sides, revealing a bright yellow passageway.
The whole passage seemed to be made of crystal lattices of yellow, faintly glowing, causing Tilan to feel a wave of weightlessness and her body to float slightly upon stepping on it, given that this area was neither inside the Star Harbor space station nor inside the body of the Starship and thus lacked a gravity generator.
"Follow me." The Priestess beside her took Tilan's hand, and then they glided effortlessly through the bright yellow passageway like fish in the sea, guiding her into the vast interior of the Starship.
The corridor, about a hundred meters long, looked especially small against the backdrop of the space station, while the outer space was an even vaster and boundless world. Just traversing it was enough to give Tilan a uniquely different experience.
It felt new, almost illusionary in its awe, and she also sensed an unparalleled feeling of insignificance. She savored this experience of entering space for the first time.
Finally, when they arrived inside the Starship, the girl's toes, in light black shoes, touched the deck, and she felt the return of gravity.
Following the four Priestesses further in, Tilan passed through door after door until they finally arrived at a larger and more open space inside the Starship. The ceiling above was like transparent glass, reflecting the appearance of outer space outside the Starship, while around the dome were eight large display screens showing images from all angles of the Starship's surroundings. Here one could see the outline of the Star Harbor and other Starships docked beside other long arms.
"Miss Tilan, please come with me. Your room has been arranged." Another Priestess, dressed in a white uniform with golden leaves, came forward. She bowed first and then led the girl to a room inside the Starship.
"This is your key card for the room, and Tilan, please wear this bracelet as well. It can generate a shield at any time to ensure your safety and also send out a distress signal in case of emergency."

After speaking, the maid handed the girl a special golden bracelet with intricate patterns, likely a High Rank Transcendent artifact.
"Thank you." After receiving the two items, Tilan used the key card to open the room, which was fully equipped, somewhat similar to a luxury apartment in a bustling district, complete with a bedroom, bathroom, small kitchen, and even a living room and dining room. Of course, compared to the outside, it was a bit smaller in size, slightly more compact while also more structurally solid.
"Dinner will start to be prepared after 16:00. You can order in advance, and we will deliver it, or you can dine at a designated restaurant." Afterwards, she explained some other matters before bidding farewell and leaving.
