Chapter 5: The New Quest & The 'Sign From God'
Over in an abandoned house, a fair distance away from any nearby cities, I laid on one of the beds I stole while I checked out the news on the phone I bought recently. It's been about two weeks now since I burned down the Toga residence, and since then I have been pretty busy.
After the first night I did manage to find this house to sleep in for a while, but since I don't have a kitchen, or a way to make fire without giving away my location, that really limited what I could eat from the food I stole from that house. So, with the guidance of the system, I've been finding drunk douchebags, so I can steal their money and blood.
At first, it was a bit difficult, since I'm short as hell in this kid's body, so I couldn't use my most recent skill to the fullest. The first time I did have to kill the guy, since I couldn't knock him out easily due to the height difference. It did piss me off a little when his blood stained my old outfit, since I thought I looked cute in it. But on the upside I got to store his body in the inventory, so I just had the system separate all the blood from the corpse.
Using that blood has made it a lot easier to get around and knock people out, after that I just put them inside inventory for a bit, have the system take out like two cups of blood from their bodies, and leave them where I found them. With that it was also easy to go out to do what I needed to, from getting food to heading to a decent bath house to bathe. I even got an oversized black hoodie to sleep in when I went out to get this phone, so things have been pretty easy going so far.
Though, I wish I had gotten the blood of some women too, since drinking the blood of guys just feels wrong for some reason. Even if I'm cool with drinking blood, cause I know I need it to stay 'sane', it just... disgust me? I don't know how to properly describe how I feel about it, I just know it doesn't feel right.
"Hm? Looks like Sir Nighteye, Aizawa, Nezu, and All Might have volunteered to help in the recent kidnapping investigations. What the hell did you show Mirai? 'Cause I'm pretty damn sure that at least Aizawa would take some decent convincing to get involve in the investigation with them." The reason I didn't mention All Might was because he would just get involved the second he was notified about the case. As for Nezu, that rat will do practically anything if he finds it interesting or beneficial to him.
[Answer: After the first vision given to Mirai Sasaki, the System has kept the Prophet from using his quirk anytime he uses it on someone that will be involved with the Host. Now he must use it on someone the Host will never interact with, or rely on the visions that he is given each night]
"Wait, you can fuck with people's quirks? How the fuck?" That made me look away from my phone towards the system panel, after all, I don't remember any system that could fuck with anyone directly, outside their host.
[Answer: Affirmative. However, the Systems reach is limited to those that the Host creates a link with]
"So, right now you can only fuck with the prophets I chose? Dammit, if I knew this I wouldn't have picked Ibara on a whim..." Who am I kidding, I probably still would've chosen her. Especially after the system told me that gods and other 'divine' beings really exist, they just don't interact with mortals more than they need to.
I've often been jealous of the gods that people like her worship, those bastards barely did anything for their followers, and yet they got so much love and devotion. So, of course I'd want to take one of those oh so devoted followers for myself. I want the attention and love for myself, even if it's just from one person, even if I'm not given the familial or romantic love I desire, it's still something.
"Anyways, isn't Siren Song supposed to finish adjusting today, and isn't that quest supposed to trigger too?" It has been two weeks now, so I should get them today.
[Answer: Affirmative. The quirk known as Siren Song has already finished the adjustment process, and the Host can now use said quirk as they please. As for the quest]

[New Quest Alert!
Challenge Quest: Kill Them All!!
Description: You have been given the task of indirectly altering a world's plot by destroying a threat to it over the course of two years. Through this you will gain battle experience, and fuck over some random evil bitch that wants to destroy or rule the world!
Objective: Choose a world and kill the creatures from it, though do be warned, with each stage completed the enemies will become increasingly more dangerous.
Reward: All Rewards will be given depending on how well you do in each stage]
[Would you like to begin?]
_____________
After the quest panel showed up a second panel with a search bar, and a panel that looked like it was essentially a keyboard, popped up next to it.
"First off, two years! For all I know a major opportunity for more chaos could slip through my fingers in that time! How do I even know that being away for that time won't bite me in the ass down the line?" I still don't even know if this world follows the original plot, or if this world is essentially an AU!
[Answer: The System can assure the Host that no important events will happen in those two years, and any event in motion that is not a part of this world's plot would purely be the doing of the Host]
I let out a sigh at the system's words, knowing now that it is most likely speaking the truth. Over the past two weeks I've noticed that the system rarely speaks outside accepting rewards and giving quest, unless I ask it a question. And each time it did answer my questions, whether they be about random shit, or about certain topics, it would always answer truthfully. So, for the time being, even if I still don't trust it completely, I'll at least give it the benefit of the doubt until it give me a reason not to.
"Anyways, about the quest, will I go directly to that world, or will the things from that world come to me? Cause I can see multiple problems with either of those options." If I go to the world I run the risk of the big bad of it considering me a threat before I gain anything that could help me defend myself properly, and if these threats come to me, it will be several times worse for me overall.
[Answer: Negative. The Host will be transported to a pocket dimension during the quest. In said pocket dimension will be everything the Host needs to fight for the duration of the quest]
"Yet two years will still pass here. Fuck, I'll take what I can get. Is there anything else I should know before we begin? Maybe something that has to do with why Ibara hasn't gotten any visions yet?" I had noticed that the system never notified me of my second prophet, Ibara, getting visions. So, I'm curious about why that is, since Sir Nighteye got them as soon as I chose him as a prophet.
[Answer: Affirmative. When the Host is taken to the pocket dimension it will cause a spectacle that can only be described as 'a little much'. As for Ibara Shiozaki, her age limits how quickly the System can bestow the visions]
"Eh? Why's that?" If I recall in a lot of fantasy stories, or stories where gods are more involved in the world, there were often people of all ages that could potentially become a prophet or a 'voice of fate' or whatever the hell else they call them.
[Answer: The visions bestowed onto the Prophets can often take a toll on the mind, so a Prophet as young as Ibara Shiozaki can not safely witness the same amount of visions as a fully matured human without a 'Sign From God' to make the Prophet more open to the visions]
"Sign from god? Are we talking about the god from the Bible, or are you referring to me with this one?" It probably is, cause with the whole prophet shit, and the chance of me becoming a god, it feels like it's setting me up to become the god of this world, even if I need to fake it for a while.
[Answer: The System is referring to the Host]
"Alright then. But, what counts as a sign from god?" Hopefully it's not something difficult to do, or something that takes a lot of time to do, since I want Ibara to be my prophet sooner rather than later.
[Answer: A spectacle that is acknowledged by many as 'unnatural' or an 'act of god']
"So, my system is now a smart ass... No shit that stuff would count as a sign from god! I meant like the specific type of shit! Like the fucking Jesus chip thing, or whatever! What can you, or I, do right now, that would count as a sign from god?" I said while I got up from the bed and put it back inside my inventory, because I would need to start at some point.
[Answer: Apologize. At the moment the System could create a phenomenon that would be considered a 'Sign From God' when the Host begins the quest, though it will cost the Host]
"Hm? A cost? What will it cost me?" I better not have to sacrifice my quirks or skill, because I know damn well that my weak as will need them to survive the quest.
[Answer: The Host will be extremely limited when it comes to gaining powers or quirks until a main quest is triggered. Though, as a trade-off the chances of gaining a 'useful' skill will slightly increase]
"Fuck. So, does that mean that even during this quest I'll have to deal with that limiter? If so, I might have to just wait till Ibara grows up to become a proper prophet." Depending on the world I choose, not having a combat related ability in the later stages could be the difference between life and death. Especially since I don't even know how many times I'll be able to use Siren Song before it starts becoming a liability to my health.
[Answer: Negative. The rewards for each stage are solely determined by how well the Host does, so the System is incapable of putting a limit on the rewards if the Host truly earned it]
"Oh! Then sure, I'll pay the price for whatever you'll do!" I said before looking over at the search bar and keyboard, time to choose the world for my quest! Hopefully fighting for my life for two whole years won't fuck me up even more.
_____________
[3rd Person POV]
_____________
While our protagonist was figuring out would world to choose for her quest, over at U.A. in Nezu's office there was a meeting going on. This meeting had All Might, Mirai, and Aizawa, as well as the hybrid principal himself, present.
"Other than the Toga's, Tsukauchi has managed to interview the other familes that have been involved in the kidnappings. From this we have learned that there is no common link between them as a whole. It's almost as if they are being taken at random." Nezu said while he took a sip from his cup of tea.
"How the hell is that possible? They can't just be kidnapping random kids for no reason!" Other than the case with the Toga's, there was nothing that could even count as a lead, almost every house had nothing to even show that someone was kidnaped. So, Aizawa couldn't believe that these are just random, they just seemed too calculated for that.
"Whether these incidents are random or not, these children still need someone to save them!" All Might said, much to the annoyance of Aizawa as he practically yelled that in sleep deprived heroes face.
"All Might, while I would usually fully agree with your words without much thought, we have to be realistic here. We have nothing to work on other than these strange dreams I keep having, since my quirk keeps refusing to activate!" Mirai has been increasingly more frustrated with each passing day since the dreams started.
Not because of the dreams themselves, it's due to his quirk being constantly supressed for some unknown reason, and because that 'goddess' he keeps seeing at the end of the dreams hasn't answered any of his questions since the first one. Instead she's been counting down the days like something important is supposed to happen, but since nothing has given any hints as to what that important thing is it's been keeping him on edge. And, since last night was the end of the countdown he's been especially put on edge, worried about what might happen.
"Sir Nighteye, please calm yourself. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until we find something-" Before Nezu could try and calm the bespectacled man in front of him booming sound came from outside, followed by a shockwave that felt like it had shook the entirety of Japan.
The four of them immediately had one question on their minds as they looked outside the offices window. What the fuck?!
Meanwhile over in a church in the city of Atsugi there was a little girl with vines for hair, this is Ibara Shiozaki a girl who had been practically raised in this church, since her father worked as a pastor here. Some kids would usually hate being in a church as much as she has, but she often found the air of the church, and the rose garden in front of it, to be rather soothing.
Both of her parents had been raising her to be a courteous and honest girl, and she had stayed true to what they had taught her, and followed the word of god that her father would often preech about during his sermons. But, today, as the earth shook below her and she witnessed what was outside, she questioned if the god that her father follwed was the true one.
Outside, as plain as day for all to see, the sky had turned a dark blood red and a golden beam of light rose from the Earth to pierce the clouds above. It was as if heaven and hell itself had converged to become one, and all of Japan was there to witness it.
As the light continued to pierce the clouds, a voice seemed to come from the heavens themselves, a voice that only two people could understand, a voice that only one of those two recognized, and a voice that seemed to be so remorseful.
In the beginning I held such hopes for the human race. I found the things you would create, and the futures you dreamed of to be so very alluring and enchanting. But, something changed. You changed. Gone were the days of those I would see as in such a positive light, now replaced with the corruption that grew in the minds of those that desired power over their fellow man. You started wars, slaughtered your own kin, made me watch as you burned down the beautiful creations of those that came before you!
So, I came to a conclusion, if you all seek to trample over the weak and beautiful things of this world, why not give my blessing onto those that I saw potential in to protect this world? But that wasn't enough.... When my blessing first made itself known, many of those that I once saw a brighter future in decided to use my blessing to cause even more harm to others, and there were also those that chose to spit upon those that were given my blessing. This sight caused me such sorrow that I was unable to witness these atrocities for two centuries.
After so much time I had hoped that I would come back to a better sight, that if you all were given enough time you would see the gifts that were given to you as anything but weapons. However, I was wrong. Now you all are more divided than ever, now you have devils wearing the skin of man giving your kin titles such as heroes and villains, now you turn your backs on those that were given the gift of potential rather than power. You have broken my heart for the final time, and now I must take matters into my own hands.
If I can not trust in you change even after everything I've given to you, then I will have to place my being into the child that has been abandoned by the light and make the change myself! My prophets have been chosen, they shall be the ones to show you the truth. In two years time I shall return and begin my crusade to rid this world of the corruption that you have sown within your lands.
After those words, that the majority of people could not decipher, the light slowly faded to nothing and the sky returned to its blue hue. With this the people of Japan were confused as to what had just happened, some thought that the sight may have been the effect of some villains quirk, or a battle between two people with powerful quirks.
Meanwhile the prophets that were chosen were focusing more on what they had heard. Mirai, was hurrying to write down everything he remembered from his dreams, in an attempt to keep himself from forgetting any detail, as it could potentially mean life or death. While, Ibara, was running to find her father so she could tell him what she had heard from the light. She didn't know what a lot of those words meant, so she would have to ask him what the voice meant. However, she would soon learn that not everyone heard the voice and that she was given the status prophet without her knowledge.
